We had just finished visiting La Sagrada Familia basilica which itself was one of the most amazing experiences. Afterwards we were hungry and we wanted to find a typical bar/tapas place that is not a tourist trap where the prices are inflated. We were walking around in pretty stormy weather when we came across En Diagonal Bar. Rafael was great, very friendly and fantastic service. Not only is he the owner, he cooks the tapas and makes your drinks. The tapas were delicious and the prices were reasonable. For four of us, we only paid 50 Euros and we ordered five tapas, two coffees, three waters and a Sangria. I highly recommend En Diagonal Bar before or after your visit La Sagrada Familia.

Delicious food and a wonderful family. They don’t speak English, but they do have an English menu. I ordered the tuna and anchovies sandwich, a typical Catalonian sandwich. It was absolutely delicious. It had roasted peppers on it and was served cold. The bread was like a baguette, and was perfectly crunchy.
I definitely recommend you come here for good food at great prices.

Rafa is the owner, chef, waiter and all of the personality of this quaint restaurant. He is friendly and charismatic. The locals know him by name and you feel at home here. The food is fresh and so delicious. You have to get away from the touristic restaurants to get quality food and experiences like this!

I had breakfast here three times out of five days spent in Barcelona, being the bar close to my place. The "tostada" with raw ham and tomato was amazing and the owner extremely kind and cheerful. Absolutely recommended!

Fueron una pareja encantadora que vinieron tres días seguidos y desayunaban tostadas con tomate y jamón ibérico. También cafe y zumo de naranja.... Todos los días.
Me alegra mucho saber que tienen un buen recuerdo de En Diagonal, y que de algún modo, colaboramos un poco en hacerles feliz su estancia en Barcelona.

Wonderful service. Great Food. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended if you are in the l'Eixample! About two blocks away from the Sagrada Familia, this family restaurant serves up the perfect fare for an afternoon bite and drink after sightseeing. The mushrooms in garlic were to die for (no really, they were the best I have ever had), and the sausages a lovely compliment to the meal. Sangria was well balanced with fruit, sweet, and wine, and my glass of local white was crisp and delightful. We could not have been happier with En Diagonal.

We had a quick bite with my two kids after an unmissable visit of the Sagrada Familia temple. The place is not pretentious, cosy and offers typical Spanish tapas. The food was delicious (approved by the kids), prepared on the spot and not at expensive.
The owner is a very nice and sociable person who treated us great and even gave us as a present some tickets for a X-mas train :-)
I definitely recommend the place for a quick bite while on the go!

Excellent, if somewhat basic bar, on the busy Avenue Diagonal. Food was simple but delicious and served by a very friendly waitress who explained all the dishes in the menu.
Highly recommend if visiting the nearby Sagrada Familia.

En Diagonal is a very typical Spanish spot to have breakfast and lunch or a drink. Rafa was cooking and suggesting some local dishes and they were delicious.
A very clean location and a delicious food with a cozy touch from Rafa giving a warm Spanish touch to me and my family as tourists.
Definitely, I'd recommend it to all

Wonderful little place to grab a coffee/drink and some food. Coffee was excellent. Service was great and super friendly. Located near la segrada de famillia. We were early for our tour so stopped in here for coffee and a tapas. Indoor or outdoor seating.

We had lunch here after our visit to Sagrada Familia as it's only about a 5-10min walk away.
It could not have been better. It's a small friendly place and what sets it apart is the attention to detail and the care taken with everything, down to my beer glass being frosted (very welcome on a hot day!)
The food was probably the best we had in Barcelona. Everything was freshly cooked with simple but high quality ingredients. We loved the bread with tomatoes and sausages in wine, but all the dishes were delicious.
If we'd had longer in Barcelona we would have loved to return and work our way through the menu!

En Diagonal Bar has delicious food! It is cooked fresh, one item at a time so it comes out piping hot. Every dish we choice was perfect. A must visit on your walk back from Sagrada Familia.
