We ate buffet breakfast at Eaton's The Astor, the coffee shop at the basement level. The freshly squeezed juice was refreshing. The pastries were good. The chicken congee was tasty. The decor is nostalgic going back to the setting of a famous cinema Astor in the 60s in Hong Kong. Above all, it is value for money. It was about US$10 per person if you make a reservation on an app Eatigo.

If you arrive by taxi, it does seem strange when staff casually dressed (a blazer and T-shirt with Human on it) opens the taxi doors and help you with your luggage, you make your way in and are greeted at reception with staff dressed the same.
When you go to the lifts to go to your room or to the lower ground or basement, you need to go outside where the taxi dropped you off to get into the lifts and the reason why is part of the lift is made of glass so you can have a great view of the area and the northwest skyline as you are going up to your room.
We had a trio room, it was smaller than I expected as there was 3 adults sharing this room, it did have a fitted wardrobe, but we had 3 suitcases and 3 hand luggage as well. The beds were comfy and the bathroom had a separate shower cubicle (which almost felt like a wet room) as well as a bath. The room decor was modern and minimalist and apart from the size of the room the downside was the sliding bathroom door, it was made of glass, it rattled every time you open or close the door which is not great when you're asleep and someone needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.
My reservation was direct with the hotel and included buffet breakfast which was in the Astor restaurant in the basement, the restaurant is large and had lots of seating areas, normal tables & chairs, canteen style and casual/informal style (like the coffee shop Central Peak in Friend US TV show). There was plenty of food and beverages on offer Chinese, Continental, Hams, Cheeses, Salami and Western dishes, there was also a noodle station, but it was a bit hidden in another seating area, there was no signs, you would only know if you was sitting in that area. The food and beverages were great, especially the fresh fruit (pineapple, rock, water and yellow melon) it was sweet and not soaking it's own juices. The only negative point was the food and beverages was not in a central position, we were seated near the entrance/exit of the restaurant so you would need to walk about 20 meters at the back of the restaurant to get to the bread, rolls, toast, croissants and pastries.
All the staff were great, very friendly and helpful, the guys who help you with your luggage would always call the lift for you or hold the lift doors, it is an informal chic 5 star hotel.

Ace71, Thank you sharing such a comprehensive review of your Eaton HK experience online. We really appreciate the time you took in outlining all the little spatial details that go into our hotel - its got quite a bit of character with the new designs merging with the established architecture. It makes the Eaton truly a unique stay I am sure you would agree! The kind note on the service of our colleagues was also much appreciated. Thanks again and hope to see you soon. Regards, Marius

I regularly go to HK and have not been too thrilled with the hotels there. expensive, small, in need of renovation. That is, until I happened upon the Eaton. Smack on Nathan Road in Kowloon, across from Temple Street Night Market and a 5 min walk from Jordan MTR. It's a concept hotel, with an art space, music, the funnily named Bad Baby (L'Enfant Terrible) Cafe, haha, and a two-story food court in the open basement. Rooms are not too big, but sufficient. Great new carpets, and a bathtub, a real luxury in HK. Add to that the rooftop pool and gym, and you have a great place. It also boasts co-working spaces, a magnificent and very affordable breakfast, and is LGBTQI+ friendly. Amenities include recyclable toothbrushes and toothpaste, a converter and mobile charging cables, the latter in the desk drawer. Additionally, the young black-t-shirted staff is available everywhere and very friendly (in HK!). Prices are well below other HK chain hotels, so all good on that front as well. Minuscule gripes: the toilet paper feels cheap, and body lotion and Q-tips would have been nice. Overall, great find, I will return!

Dear Holger B, Thank you for choosing Eaton HK and for taking the time to write us a review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed staying with us during your trip to Hong Kong and that enjoyed our art and culture offerings, our amenities and customer service—welcome to the Eaton HK community! We appreciate your comments about the toilet paper and the in-room amenities—to cut down single-use amenities, we do not include items like cotton swabs and pads in the room. However, they can be requested simply by reaching out to our team. We thank you for understanding and for joining us in our efforts to be more eco-conscious! It was such a pleasure to host you this time and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future! You're always welcome at Eaton HK. Kind regards, Harvey Thompson General Manager
