Sir Albert Hotel enjoys a favorable reputation for its vibrant atmosphere and prime location, appreciated for being close to various attractions and amenities. While the staff often receives praise for their friendliness, guests have faced challenges with service efficiency. Although the design and atmosphere are considered cozy, the hotel's value for money is questioned due to overpricing and smaller-than-expected rooms. Cleanliness also receives mixed reviews, with some cleanliness concerns noted alongside compliments for tidy spaces. Moreover, while the amenities are generally a plus, some guests have found fault with specific room features and the bar experience.

An amazing hotel, we really enjoyed our stay and I couldn’t recommend it any more. The check in process was very smooth, we were even offered a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival. We arrived earlier than check in, however the hotel offered to look after our bags free of charge while we explored which was great. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was very cosy, modern and comfortable, perfect for a city break. The bed was very comfy and the TV had 6 English speaking channels, we also had a drink in the IZAKAYA bar which is attached to the hotel, it was quite expensive with cocktails being around €15 each however you can tell it is an upmarket bar in a trendy area so you can understand the reasons for the prices. The location is great, it’s around a 20 minute walk into the ‘centre’ of Amsterdam, however the area the hotel is in is very trendy and has lots of great shops, restaurants, cafes and even a market, we will definitely be returning to Sir Albert :)

The hotel is in a great location, near the main museums, but not too touristy. Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. The buffet breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we've ever had and very luxurious; fresh juices, eggs cooked anyway you like, a huge selection of food on offer and very good quality all round. There are a few niggles: The room was cold each night, and we would have to call reception to change it. The towels are too small for a good hotel. The reading light hanging over the bed is far too bright and we could not use it. I also had to ask for a shower cap, as they had forgotten to leave one, and also no cotton wool. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but one or two seemed a bit impatient and curt.

Even though we live in the region, we decided to spend the night at Sir Albert after we walked along the Amsterdam Light Festival. Upon arrival, the staff explained that valet service was not possible due to the covid-19 measures. Actually, no problem since the spacious public parking garage called AlbertCuyp is a stone's throw from the hotel. This guarded parking garage has many charging points for electric cars by the way. Back at the hotel, a warm welcome by the people at the front desk, where you can sit comfortably while everything is being put in order. Our room was on the 4th floor. A good size room for city standards with a separate shower and toilet and a lovely soft, comfortable bed. The room was well furnished, including a desk, coffee maker, as well as a steam iron, and an excellent hairdryer. We had booked an extra room for the evening for a small fee which was turned into a small living room with a dining table where it was possible to have dinner delivered from Izakaya restaurant. Breakfast could be ordered by phone in the morning. The service was very friendly and fast. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the omelet was delicious, as were the various pastries. In summary, lovely hotel, a great room, and all the staff are professional, passionate, and friendly.

Overpriced hotel with out of date rooms. No USB charging, they don't provide any international adapters and attempt to nickle and dime you by selling you an adapter for 20 Euro.

The shower in my room leaked through the seams in the door and soaked the floor which was right next to the bed. Randomly the TV would turn on while I was sleeping and wake me up.

At the end of my trip I accidentally left my scarf in the room, while at the airport I realized this and contacted the hotel. They were able to secure the scarf and refused to ship it back to me as they use a third party company to handle it.

The third party company is now charging me $100 to ship a 2 ounce scarf from Amsterdam to NY.

Avoid this place at all costs.

We stayed twice as a group of 7 with each time 3 rooms. As a special thank you, ours was just above the bar which means you get to enjoy the mediocre DJ at high volume with accompanying thump deep into the night. If you wanted to sleep... wrong place. Other rooms had special items like the sink in the middle of the bedroom with no door so your partner gets to see you brush your teeth as they lie in bed. The shower door also opens directly into the bedroom so you can dry off and change into your clothes also in the 2 sq m space between the bathroom doors and the bed. If you must stay here stay alone and ask for an upper floor.

I stayed here on a trip to Amsterdam for my Birthday. Staff realised this when i arrived and made the effort to write a personal birthday note and add balloons and banners to my room and i thought this was a beautiful gesture. Hotel is beautiful and very clean, staff are also amazing and very helpful! I would definitely recommend staying here!

Conveniently located in de Pijp, this cool hotel lobby invites guests to sit in "the study" on leather sofas and have a drink from the trendy bar/Japanese restaurant adjacent to the lobby. I'm not sure why there is a row of ceramic hippo faces lining the wall but it is visually arresting nonetheless. It's walkable to almost everything, including a metro stop nearby.

The front desk service was outstanding. Buren, who checked me in, offered a glass of champagne. After check in, he offered concierge services including making reservations for recommended restaurants and activities.

The guest room itself was cool with sleek, black glass enclosures for the closet and the bathroom. The furnishings were comfortable and they had the best pillows I ever lay my head on

My room was on the courtyard side which didn’t have much of a view but it was quiet which was great. I highly recommend renting a bike for 24 hours and using that as a way to get around town – I had so much fun doing that! It’s also really great at the hotel sells tickets to the metro and museums right there at the front desk for the same price as elsewhere. I definitely utilized that service. The free glass of Prosecco upon check-in was also quite nice!

At the point of writing this, we have emailed the hotel directly in hope of resolving our issues without needing to post here but sadly no response.

This hotel is in a great location and the immediate feel is modern and clean. However, we faced a number of problems that were not resolved to the standard you would expect given the price this hotel charges.

On our first night at around 3.30 am there was a power outage which resulted in all of our lights turning on and us unable to turn off. We rang reception but there was no answer leaving us no choice but to sleep as best we could with all of the lights on. There is a bright modern beam directly above your head. Our friends who had the room next door, faced the opposite problem. They had NO light at all.

We reported this to reception in the morning, who seemed absolutely unphased that both parties had had issues sleeping and they assured us they would investigate this. At this point I think it is important to note that we made it clear we fully understood they could not control an outage but would have definitely appreciated some slight empathy that we had barely slept.

After a full day in Amsterdam, we returned to the hotel in the early hours only to be left outside for 15 minutes as none of our cards worked along with two other residents. A friendly gentleman behind reception then let us in. We went up to our rooms to find that ours still had all the lights on with no option to turn off and our friends still had no lights at all. When returning to reception our friends had a room allocated but we didn’t. This took over an hour to fix leading us not to have another room till gone 3am in the morning. Our friends than had to pack all belongings in pitch black. Given the fact that our room remained the exact same as we left and no room allocated for us, it was clear they hadn’t even attempted to fix our problem which fitted the lack of concern or care we felt when we reported and showed photos the previous morning.

If they had spent time trying to resolve our issues, we could not understand how the hotel did not phone us earlier in the day when the problem could not be resolved and inform us we had rooms available with keys waiting for us at reception. For us, that would have demonstrated not only the expected customer service for the price but a genuine concern to make their guests enjoy their stay. If we had been contacted, we would have gone back to change rooms during the day.

The morning we checked out we explained we wanted to complain and share our experience only to be greeted again with a huge lack of empathy and they explained they couldn’t control a power outage. They were unable to see the impact this had on our two-night stay and tried to brush us off. They did eventually offer us 10% back on each room, they then assured us they would round up to 50 euros per room a gesture of goodwill. We have been refunded £10 for one room and £11 for the other – we have contacted but no response.

While this hotel remains in a good location, the service they provide does not match at all the price they charge you and given the vast amount of accommodation options all over Amsterdam & the brilliant service we experienced in all restaurants and bars we visited we would not be able to recommend.
