Unbelievable experience in the best possible way! From the moment we entered, we felt an aura of incredible history and rich culture: from the furniture to the small to the colors, it was beautiful. The rooms were beautiful with views and wonderfully furnished, so none of my family has any complaints about them. Everything in the hotel felt very high end and luxurious. With posh amenities like the mini bar with drinks and food throughout the rooms and hotel, to the numerous lounges and pools both indoor and outdoor that incorporate the nature, history, and qualities of Barcelona at its finest, the hotel truly felt like a resort. The Tea Time was just as superb as the people who served it. The staff was not also very amiable and accommodating, but each went above and beyond to ensure the quality of our stay. The breakfast should also be mentioned. If you are to believe that this is simply a continental breakfast, you would be mistaken, as it is a full on feast with incredible quantities of delicious food and lush furnishings around the room. The service here never quavered either: Vanessa, Tiontse, Ana, and Ewas were all incredible and so friendly. The location could not have been more central either! In the middle of La Rambla, a famous avenue in Barcelona, everything is within walking distance, including tours, shopping, culture, and history. Our stay at this wonderful hotel ended far too quickly, and before we knew it, we were gone from one of Barcelona’s finest offerings. Our stay was the epitome of a fantastic vacation, and we could not have asked for a better, more hospitable stay.

This is an excellent hotel situated minutes walk from the main shopping areas and the Gothic Quarter with the Picasso Museum and Cathedral . The hotel is well decorated with comfortable seating areas a roof terrace and spa . Complimentary tea is available in the afternoon as well as mineral water in the rooms . There is a supermarket next door if you do not want to use the mini bar . The only issues we had was that it took several minutes for the hot water to run , reception staff told us that it was recent issue that was being fixed and the failure to access the BBC news channel on the TV . Would definitely return here next time we visit Barcelona .

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Hotel 1898. What an experience from arriving on Friday to leaving on Sunday evening,it was my wife's 50th birthday i had emailed the hotel about this and on arrival they upgraded us to a superior room which was a very nice surprise. The room was beautiful with all the finishing touches that you love,bathrobes,slippers,free water and large television along with a king size bed. In one word, WOW! The stay at Hotel 1898 was amazing. In the middle of the hottest part of Barcelona, on the La Rambla Street, near everything and it's not even the best part. The staff made our vacation really special and kept surprising us during the entire stay. With great advice of where to go and how, answered every question, helped with every request we had about the room and just made us feel like we are the only guests in the hotel.
The hotel offers beautiful rooms, fully equipped and comfy. In addition, there's an amazing indoor gym and spa area, appropriate for cold weather as well, where you can relax after a long day of exploring. There's also an open terrace with a pool for these hot summer days and night.
We have to point out the breakfast, the waiters were very friendly and when we asked for salmon fish (as my wife doesn't eat meat) they brought us a big portion right out of the kitchen. The buffet is very rich and has so many sorts of meats and cheese kinds!
There are many activities the hotel provides which we really enjoyed such as wine tasting, free guided tour in the Gothic quarter, live music at the lobby at the evening and more.
Overall, we had an amazing time in Barcelona and much of it is because of this hotel and its staff. I would definatelly recommend the place to everyone!
Tip for pros: choose a room far from the La Rambla steers as the Metro makes noise even on the higher floors.

I visited this stunning hotel for the first time and it definitely won’t be the last time! Great location on Las Ramblas coupled with a lovely building makes for the perfect hotel in Barcelona. Once inside you are greeted by a well looked after property with very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant, bar & spa area are immaculate and I felt right at home as soon as I arrived. Had drinks in the bar (cocktails are gorgeous) and the live music was fabulous! The singer even gave me a copy of his CD. Staff in the bar were a real credit to the hotel. Very helpful and knowledgeable and I could see how well they kept an eye on service. The female manager on duty was extremely helpful and really made sure that the visit was an exceptional one. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Barcelona. The local area is full of places to visit and weekends are definitely the time to go. Apparently the singer is there on Friday nights and if you don’t go and see him then you’ve missed something special!

We stayed with another couple for five nights recently. There were many things to like about the hotel. Location is extremely convenient to everything that you want to do. There’s an excellent breakfast buffet. Our friends had a hotel room with a couch in the seating area overlooking the main road. It was a little noisy from the street and the subway but they liked their room. We had a room on the fifth floor with a terrace which was quiet from the outside but close to the elevator so noisy from the inside (ie, people in the hallway). Also, I’m not sure that booking a Terrace room, our choice, of course, made much sense in the winter. The rooftop terrace was closed in the evenings but they let us take a bottle of wine up to the rooftop one night and we were the only people there and we had such a great time, albeit we were very bundled up. When we checked in, the wonderful gentleman at the front desk gave us a map and told us about lots of highlights and suggested places to eat and told us about a free wine tasting at the hotel that night. On Saturday, we went down to the grotto pool which was fairly crowded with other people. It is a nice spa but it does get crowded fairly quickly. Overall, I would certainly recommend staying here. If you are a light sleeper, ask to be on a higher floor and away from the elevator.

Booked here for my partners 30th through EasyJet as a package.
Arrived at the hotel and was given our room key, the staff were friendly but didn’t give us much of a welcome explaining where we were and how everything worked i.e Spa etc.. so if you have questions you have to ask as we didn’t get told anything.
Rooms are big and spacious and include a fridge/mini bar, shampoo etc, hair dryer, robers/slippers, water, iron/board and tea/coffee etc.
We stayed 3 nights I think our room was cleaned once? But don’t quote me on that but it was enough and had clean towels etc.
The spa area is really nice but again had to find someone to tell us where we could change/put our belongings. There is also a gym.
We had a drink at the bar in the hotel as it had a lovely lounge and bar. We didn’t have breakfast included but I would recommend getting it at the hotel as there isn’t much for breakfast on the street.
Location is great, in walking distance to the main square (be careful of pick pockets & I would also not eat in the main square.. food isn’t great and you get pestered). To the airport we used the aero bus which is just up the road from the hotel which cost around €5.
I would definitely stay here again for location and room.

Great location along La Rambla that is easily accessible to the main attractions of the city. Walkable in 7 mins from the airport bus terminal which made the commute very convenient. We never had to use a taxi. Hotel has a good spa and is well upkept. However because of its location and accessibility, the lower floors tend to be noisy, as ours was, facing the main road. We could hear patrons from nearby restaurants quite audibly so the windows had to be kept closed. Hotel is also very near the metro so getting around the city was easy from there. Overall a good urban location for touring Barcelona.

An excellent hotel in the heart of Barcelona. The rooms are very well equipped and those on the side street very quiet - although some people may prefer those facing the bustle of Ramblas. Breakfast is plentiful and lots of choices are available. A simple evening meal is available to residents on the roof terrace, which also has a bar and a swimming pool. There is a spa in the basement. The bedroom AC is quiet and effective although the light switches require patience and some practice!. The ground floor is palatial, beautifully furnished and suffused with a delightful fragrance. Two Metro stations nearby and 5 mins walk to the Opera House. A good feature of the city is the excellent and reasonably priced taxi service.

I am in no way connected to this hotel or have any bias in my review other than first hand experience.
We stayed a couple of nights at this hotel while we were in town for a soccer match. Great location, a very short walk from Placa de Catalunya and with access from La Rambla.
A beautiful, fresh and inviting aroma can be perceived throughout the hotel that matches perfectly the sophisticated and modern decoration. Some hotels have areas that are better than others and some have not-so-nice areas. But every area in this hotel looked just as nice as the rest of it. This hotel truly impressed me, and I felt like extending my trip to continue to enjoy all of its amenities.
As far as customer service is concerned, its staff was welcoming, courteous, and helpful. The person that helped us with our luggage was so kind and attentive. He had been watching our luggage because we checked in early in the morning and our room was not available. When we returned later in the morning, as soon as he saw us walk in and without having to ask, he checked and confirmed that our room was ready. Upon arriving to our room, he offered and immediately went to the lobby to get us two plug converters. His demeanor was what any manager would like patrons to experience.
The rooftop bar and lounge, which includes a pool, was also very nice. It offers a variety of seating all around with 360 degree view of Barcelona. We ordered drinks and some food, including a glass of red wine. Our server asked how everything was tasting and I told him that the red wine was not what I expected. Our server apologized and told me I would not be charged for it.
The breakfast buffet, which was included, was excellent. There so much variety and was all offered elegantly in different areas so it never appeared crowded. Food and drinks were of very good quality.
There is so much to tell about this hotel, like its spa, but I think that if you are traveling to Barcelona, you must experience it yourself. I 100% recommend it and I look forward to staying at Hotel 1898 in the near future. It would be a true statement to say that this hotel is a great value, but this hotel is much more than that.
