We finally found a hotel that we would return to without hesitation. Barcelona is our favourite city, and hotel 1898 made this visit perfect. The rooms are very comfortable with amazing beds! The staff are awesome, as is the service they provide. Great atmosphere in the evening around the bar with live music over the weekends. The food served in the restaurant is also worth a try. And then there is the roof terrace!! Guys just go try this place ... you will love it.

In one word, WOW! The stay at Hotel 1898 was amazing. In the middle of the hottest part of Barcelona, on the La Rambla Street, near everything and it's not even the best part.
The staff made our vacation really special and kept surprising us during the entire stay. With great advice of where to go and how, answered every question, helped with every request we had about the room and just made us feel like we are the only guests in the hotel.
The hotel offers beautiful rooms, fully equipped and comfy. In addition, there's an amazing indoor gym and spa area, appropriate for cold weather as well, where you can relax after a long day of exploring. There's also an open terrace with a pool for these hot summer days and night.
We have to point out the breakfast, the waiters were very friendly and when we asked for salmon fish (as my wife doesn't eat meat) they brought us a big portion right out of the kitchen. The buffet is very rich and has so many sorts of meats and cheese kinds!
There are many activities the hotel provides which we really enjoyed such as wine tasting, free guided tour in the Gothic quarter, live music at the lobby at the evening and more.
Overall, we had an amazing time in Barcelona and much of it is because of this hotel and its staff. I would definatelly recommend the place to everyone!
Tip for pros: choose a room far from the La Rambla steers as the Metro makes noise even on the higher floors.

My friends and I stayed for a few days at Le Meridian in Barcelona. We stopped for drinks one night across the street at Hotel 1898. I have never been so impressed with the quality of service and incredible care and thoughtfulness of our bartender. He went above and beyond to help us find a restaurant for dinner. Far beyond the team at our own hotel. He was kind, courteous and fun. One of the best nights of our trip because of that experience. I will stay at that hotel next time there just because of his warmth and attentiveness. Thank you to Alberto Franco. If you’re like me, the experience is what makes a place special and people create experiences by their behavior. This hotel is a must go to in my book.

Lux and comfortable, this hotel has a good location near the picturesque & hip Gothic Quarter. Highlights for me: friendly staff, classy lobby using aromatherapy, spa with sauna and pool, delicious breakfast (recommend the fresh bread and cheese selection), as well as excellent espresso and mocktails available at the bar on the main floor (Alberto, the bartender, made an excellent Cortado, made me feel at home on my first day, and gave me tips on what to see and how to get there). My classic room was beautiful with wooden floors, green marble bathroom, & deep soak tub. I stayed on the 6th (top) floor with an interior room which was quieter and still had a great view of a cathedral if you opened one of the windows. I dined in the in-hotel restaurant for dinner which had excellent service and amazing salad. There is also a rooftop bar (open til around 6) and pool (not heated) which are available. You can also sit on the patio furniture on the roof after the bar closes to enjoy the city lights or cool off after the spa. Love this hotel!

My wife and I chose this hotel for a two-day stay prior to cruising out of Barcelona, and we couldn't be more pleased with the staff, accommodations, location, and food. This hotel is in the center of Las Ramblas, which is an amazing cultural experience within Barcelona. We will stay there again.
