Detailed Reviews
It was a great hotel with friendly staff and comfortable clean rooms. There is a bar accross from train station with great reasonably priced tapas. You have easy access to the city center and it was great to return to the calm of the hotel at night for a quite sleep. Currently trip advisor has it listed as a 1 star hotel but this is clearly wrong. The hotel posts 3 stars and it is one of the better 3 star hotels I have stayed in in Spain. We are coming back.

We stayed here during sticky August so we needed something comfortable inside if it was not to be outside. We drove so it was little hard to find on a back street but this is the only gripe. Room was very clean and well priced with well equiped bathroom. Soundproofing OK, maybe slightly muffled. Don't worry about location as metro is 30 sec walk up the hill and only 10 mins into centre of town. Very good for the price you pay. Go for it.

We stayed for four nights in this hotel. Rooms are not very big, but definitely clean, complete en nice. There is a small bathroom including a bidet and a hydromassage bath. Breakfast is served in a buffet with enough different things you can pick. Metro is just two minutes walking from the hotel. It is a quiet hotel which we loved because Barcelona city is noisy enough of itself.
We had a very nice and quiet stay, nearby the Guell park, and easy to go where ever we wanted in the city, because of the metro nearby. We would recommend it to everyone who wants to visit Barcelona en wants to be sure that you can sleep at night!

The location of this hotel is just perfect if you are not looking to be right in the rush of the beautiful city of Barcelona (but still close enough to it). It is a little hard to find if you arrive at night as it is positioned on a slightly hidden street. But it is close to the main attractions and gives you the opportunity to get a good night sleep after all that walking around. The rooms are clean and comfortable, service every day and they do a great job. The staff is polite and helpful. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as we decided to eat out and enjoy a cup of coffee on LAS RAMBLAS where all the tourists "meet" to "share" a meal.
Use a T10 ticket is is really the best way to get around with public transportation. A lot of main sites are at a walking distance from one another so you will not use the metro sistem that often.

We have just returned from a short break and found Hotel Mitre to be excellent.
Rooms were very nice indeed and the staff were very nice also. Hotel is located not too far from the centre, although to walk there would be pushing it.
Metro station (El Putxet) is very near by (2mins walk) which allows quick and cheap access ( 1.20 euro one way) to the centre (La Ramblas etc)
Transport links we found were unbelievable, always on time and very cheap, fantastic.
We had breakfast twice (buffet style,10 euros p.p) which we found good although limited hot food)
We would recommend Hotel Mitre without question and would definitely return.
Final thought, i read some reviews here that it's a 1* star hotel - can't see that at all because it says 3* star on the sign on the wall outside and by our experiance it is a 3* star hotel no question.

We stayed at the Hotel Mitre in June 2004 and found it to be pleasant, clean and quiet. They offered a variety of food for breakfast, including the delicious tomato puree with garlic on toast (sounds strange!). The metro station was close by and we didn't have any problems getting into the heart of Barcelona. A multirider kept the cost of transport down. In fact, it was nice to be away from all the crowds and noise at times. One of the 'hop on hop off' bus stops was not too far either. For the info of future travellers, there are 2 small supermarkets nearby and about 20 mins walk away from the hotel in a side street is a place where you can obtain internet access - it's not an internet cafe but a place where people play networked games. However, we were able to pay for 30 min blocks of internet access times, which helped with checking emails. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

The hotel itself was fine and located very well.
However we had to leave the hotel because we found bedbugs (!) in our bed during our second night. We found them on a pillow and wall. We were shocked and we didn't look under the bed. It was terrible experience, we got bitten the first night (we did not find them that night). The bitten areas was very itchy and looked very bad. We had to move immediately after we saw them marching on our bed.
Anyway the receptionist was helpful and completely managed our moving to the next hotel. After arrival (1 am) we had to throw all the things from suitcases outside and check them one after another ( once you take/got them it's hard to kill them). We were checking our luggage till 5 am in the morning and did not sleep well ( I hope you understand.
Cleaning servises was terrible - floor full of hair (unfortunately not ours), very bad smell of pillows,... We told the recepcionist about it but nothing changed.
According to this really bad experience we would not reccomend this hotel to anybody.
(I tried to post this review much earlier, but it was rejected for no reason.)

The hotel is on the outskirts of Barcelona but right by a metro and bus stop.
It's a basic no frills hotel, the room is an adequate size for what we needed. Room very clean, cleaned daily and top up of toiletries. They don't provide shampoo strangely! There's a fridge in the room, but no tea/coffee making facilities.
We didn't have the breakfast in the hotel, there are several nice cafes within walking distance and reasonably priced.
Getting from the airport I would advise the airport bus (A2) to playa catalunya then either the metro (L7 entrance opposite Hard Rock cafe) to El Putxet
or the V15 bus to Mitre stop. Public transport is excellent and easy to navigate, we bought a travel card to cover 3 days (Hola BCN).
This hotel is a great base for exploring depending on the cost, we got a great flight & hotel deal, so much cheaper than hotels in the centre.
The lady on reception when we arrived was very helpful, gave us a map and pointed out areas of interest.
I would certainly stay here again, good base and bars/restaurants, a supermarket all nearby.

No parking available at the hotel. Only a 2 minute walk from the nearest metro station and then 10 minutes to Las Ramblas metro
I could not remember actual on site parking. Due to the location, alternate parking should be found.
The entrance to the hotel has a step outside. The street is also on an incline.
It can take approx 30 minutes from El Prat by car or just under the hour by airport bus/metro.
Yes, it does! 2 actually.
