Hotel's Favourite
We had a perfect week at Bay Gardens Beach Resort in March 2023. We have travelled all over the caribbean and this resort is our new favourite. The island itself is breathtaking wiht scenic beaches on a backdrop of hilly countryside. The resort is small and ideal for those not wanting the mega resorts. We thought it was great for couples, families and children. It is very well managed and the service was excellent.

We loved it here and felt that it was the perfect resort for our family. We felt safe and welcomed. We will definitely be coming back.

We went there over Christmas Vacation for a week with our three adult children. The pool was beautiful and was open until 9 pm, but there are no lights after dark there, so not sure of the safety for little ones. We had an ocean view room. The food is good onsite, but very very expensive. The service is mediocre at the bar and at the restaurants.
The beach is beautiful, and it has mostly clear Caribbean water which was calm so it was amazing to swim in. Non-motorized sports are included, so we went Sea-Kayaking, which was lots of fun. Snorkeling equipment is NOT included, so bring your own. It is $10 per set per day. Not worth it to rent. Many many people approaching you to buy jewelry, buy fresh coconut water, and rotis. No service on the beach for the bar.
The seagrapes restaurant is horrible, and has poor service. We complained to the manager of the entire resort, and I think that she was concerned, but this poor service was a theme throughout the eating places onsite.
Parents beware that there is usually very loud music playing until about 10 pm daily. There are lots of nightly shows and such, but it is very loud at night.

Unfortunately our stay at the resort wasn't as we had planned to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. This had nothing to do with the hotel but the timing of our visit just before the coronavirus impacted on flights and the island. We had booked for 12 nights but in the end we were there for a week due to our return flight being cancelled and having to re-arrange an earlier return flight We were unable to book any trips and local restaurants were closing down due to curfew and lack of diners. I cannot fault the lengths the hotel went to in regards to infection control. All meals were served a la carte and hand sanitizer was provided. The staff are so friendly and always checking if we were ok and doing their best to help us enjoy our time there. The reception staff were also very helpful making telephone calls for us when required. We both enjoyed the food, even if the wait was a bit lengthy on occasions, but we were not in a hurry to go anywhere so it wasn't a problem We will definitely return one day to experience all that Bay Gardens Beach Resort and surrounding area have to offer.
The hotel is quite low key and ideal for couples and families wanting a safe relaxing time. Our room was a garden view and both bedroom and bathroom were large and housekeeping was excellent. The transfer from the airport is about an hour and a half but it went quickly but we were able to see some more of the island on the way.

Let me start by saying that we probably chose the wrong hotel for our needs. Plenty of other reviews on this site will tell you about the very pleasant location of this hotel on the beach, just outside the main part of Rodney Bay. The hotel shuttle was great for seeing more of the locality, even acting as a taxi service for their ‘Dine Around’ option.
However:
1. Be aware that this is primarily a family hotel with lots of rooms/suites clearly designed with such travellers in mind. It has great facilities for kids. Not so great if you are looking for some peace and quiet away from screaming children. Unfortunately the design of this hotel makes it difficult to escape that particular background annoyance.
2. Restaurant service. Oh dear! Whilst many of the hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming this did not extend to the restaurants. If you want to eat at 8pm book a table for 7pm. We never complained about the delays, perhaps others did, and this affected the demeanour of the waiting staff. A smile must be banned by hotel policy, unless you happened to have a young child in tow!
I said we never complained, that was a lie. For our last night we had booked a table at the ‘Seagrapes’ restaurant a couple of days in advance, at hotel reception. Upon arriving we were told they had no booking for us. Eventually we were found a table. We were quite close to the pass and could see that the kitchen was in absolute chaos. They clearly could not cope with the numbers booked in for early evening. Nobody was in charge of the pass and so plates of food arrived and the waitresses had to try to match them up to the checks. Tables were getting the wrong combination of dishes. (We even had to ask for the correct garnishes to be placed on ours.). But most annoyingly we, and many others were waiting up to 90 minutes for our food. At the end of the evening I sought out the manager in charge of the restaurant that evening and politely passed on our comments. I suggested that the first thing she did the next morning should be to gather together all the staff from that night (both front and back of house) to discuss just how things got so bad, and what could be done to improve the service. I would suggest they arrange to observe how things are done in a “proper” restaurant and learn a lot more about restaurant and kitchen management. (Of course there are very few ‘paying’ customers here as most are on all inclusive.)
Not the plus side, it was nice to see that the hotel was fully owned and staffed by Lucians. The one waitress who did apologise for the delay and managed a smile received a handsome tip.

The hotel is situated on the beach within walking distance from Rodney Bay. The rooms are modern and comfortable with both pool view and beach view available. The pool is big enough for the hotel but spaces are limited and towels are put out early.
Although most reviews about the food are really good, personally I was disappointed with the choices available and also the length of time for food to arrive. There seemed to be more choice available at lunchtime although the daily specials didn't change in ten days and the choice of desert was very poor, some days only one desert available. The drink choices were excellent with lovely crushed ice smoothies and non alcoholic cocktails.
This is a small hotel with no entertainment on an evening, this suited us and we knew that before we arrived, choose a different hotel if you want singers and shows etc..
There are tours available to book through the hotel and a spa on site (very expensive but check with reception you may get some complimentary massages included).
The dine around programme can be used twice in stays of 7 days or more, you get a voucher for 100 EC dollars to spend in a selection of restaurants.

I would stay her again but hope the food choice would be improved.

We stayed here for a week in February 2020. Good value for money.
Lots of pros - The room was very clean, air conditioned and spacious. The staff were great. Our room was on the top floor looking north with a view of Pigeon Island and Gros Islet. There are lots of activities for children (ping pong, water climbing obstacles in the water, soccer field). There was secure parking for the rental car. There were only a handful of spots but they were never full at night. The beach is quite long and good for walks. The hotel is located on a strip of great restaurants as well. There is also good views of the boats coming in and out of Rodney Bay Marina. There is a pool, steps from the beach. The bar at night was quiet and not busy.
The food was decent but service was a bit slow. It was expensive enough that I would recommend eating at the restaurants along the Reduit Beach strip or driving to the Naked Fisherman at Cap Maison. There is a fridge in the room so you can go to the local supermarket for lunch and breakfast food.
One big con, running water interruptions. There was no running water in the room on occasion for hours at a time. It happened three times in our one week stay. We noticed it at night but were not in the room during the day. The times were random, sometimes as early as 8pm and other times in the middle of the night or early morning. I suspect that it was maintenance outside of the control of the hotel but if it is a regular thing, it would have been helpful to be aware of the possibility in advance or been left water in the fridge each night.
A caution on location. The hotel is located on the north part of the island, quite far from the larger airport (1.5 hours without traffic, which can be standstill through Castries depending on cruise ships and accidents). A rental car is not necessary although it is economical if you have to pay for a return trip in a taxi from the airport regardless. It also gives you the chance to explore the island on your own time. It is far to some main attractions such as anything around the Pitons (about 1.5 hours again, traffic depending). The hotel is right in Rodney Bay/Gros Islet - close to lots of restaurants, shopping and Pigeon Island.

Had a really good time here. The location was amazing, the beach clean and the sea warm and clear. I maybe wouldn’t be quite so keen if the island was open for business as usual with the same beach being a popular drop off point for cruise ship customers. As it was, the beach was pretty much deserted and perfect for us that way.
The kids enjoyed the on site inflatable water park, as did I! The sunbeds were a little hit and miss with some due upgrades, on the whole or was easy enough to find a comfortable one. The sea was clear and snorkelling of the beach around the entrance to Rodney Bay marina was excellent with lots of fish. The pool looked nice and was cleaned daily, not my thing but the kids liked it!
The hotel felt compact, which was nice, the staff were excellent and helpful.
My room was as described. With a king size comfortable bed and a really high pressure shower. Room and beach towels were provided.
I stayed with the all inclusive option which was good, given the circumstances (Covid 19), there was a great variety of drinks including 5 different beer options! The food menus were heavily restricted and the buffet closed. Service was very slow for food as the hotel adjusted to their new demands. The staff were good at keeping the drinks topped up whilst we waited. We used the local restaurant delivery service as part of the all inclusive activity on three occasions, we used the Indian restaurant, the food was excellent and was by far the best meals of the holidays.
On the whole I would recommend this property. Good location, comfortable and good staff.

We returned god our third visit to Bay Gardens, we choose this hotel for its location afternoon having a couple of weeks at an all inclusive elsewhere on the island.
The location of this hotel is first class,right on the beach with numerous amenities close by and Rodney Bay a 10 minute walk away.
However- given we are all coming back into tourism with Covid in the background I think this hotel has slightly dropped the ball.
Attention to detail- at breakfast the tables often didn't have all the cutlery, no salt and pepper, the waiting staff often caught the eye and saw something was wanted but turned away..even asking for water seemed an inconvenience to some..
The Sea Grapes restaurant was lovely but felt unfinished, it's a breezy spot so why not put drapes all around to make it all feel more inclusive and protect from the wind. Also a designated spot for the bar area would be nice.
The bar area around Hi Tides is certainly missing a trick, lots of space, even with Covid restrictions you could have high tables close to the bar and seats - distanced at the bar. Make more of the pool,area at night, light the pool up, get rid of the awful fluorescent strip lights.
The towel cabin is just the greatest fun ever! Why? Just why? Put towels in the room or leave them out for people to collect rather than an interrogation each day about if it's your first visit ( that day, ever...??, the girl in the box certainly didn't seem to know)
I love this hotel for it's location and we'll definitely come again but a bit more attention and customer service would be greatly appreciated

I have stayed at BGBR several times and thought that it was great, but when I called to inquire about staying there for 10 days over the Memorial day week it did not sound good. The persom\n that took my phone call was not very friendly and I was told that I have to book online previously I always made reservations by phone. The reason for doing it that way is because I could get a certain room because I knew the layout of the property. I believe that I spoke to Erin and she asked if I was aware of the Covid guide lines, I said that I was and had been vacinated and tested. I wanted a ocean view suite with a kitchen. She informed me that with the dine around plan some of the restraunts were on limited hours and we could not walk to them but HAD to use a covid certified Taxi. I then said that was one of the reasons that I wanted a kitchen to avoid that problem and that I could buy groceries ay the local G&L market that we know well. Now I was told that I could not leave the property to go to the store and they would have to go for me with a 20% surcharge! So you are not allowed to walk outside the property...sounds like you are in a minimum security prison not a relaxing resort. All this was told to me with an attitude I did not feel comforatable with sorry BGBR I will spend my $ some place else. The pictures in the adverts show smiling people and kids splashing in the water I wonder if they make you wearprison clothes with a number on your vacation? Sorry BGBR you lost a good customer. The hotel is located a long drive from the airport and that is not good but once we arrived the staff was welcoming and friendly. This is a beachfront property with beautiful gardens and a pool if you don’t want to get into the ocean. A person offered us rum punch. Perfect after the drive.
My room upstairs for which I received help with my bags. It’s a queen size bed that’s comfortable and the AC is full force. There is a small refrigerator and a coffee service. Breakfast was included in our package and it was enjoyable. There are water sports available but the water was too rough to be able to paddle board. I took a private car to pigeon island because the boat service offered by the hotel was not available which was far calmer and spent a couple of hours on the beach. The driver waited for me and gave me a tour of the town.
I returned to the hotel and spent the last 2 hours on the beach at the hotel. It was quiet and enjoyable.
I came down early and sat on the porch with a nice breeze...it was a nice end to a beautiful day....

High tides was only a buffett one night the rest of the time we were there it was menu order
It’s varied but mostly instrumental musicians. We spent 2 weeks there and on one night there was a fire swallowing/acrobatic show which was good.
Yes, we had no problem getting a cab to the resort. There were plenty available.
There are a few restaurants in walking distance, although we tried only one. They do have some nice 'apartment-like' units. There is also a shuttle to take guests into the town of Rodney Bay, which is quite 'complete' with groceries, banks & such. We'd rented a car & barely used it - hotel shuttle and small tours, as to Pigeon Point can be arranged.
