Our group had 3 rooms for a night with the kids swimming. The rooms were unbelievably hot. One of the rooms was like a sauna. The rooms themselves were average a little on the small side the mini fridge was so loud.
When we got to the pool it was so loud as it was pretty crowded. The pool area was filthy. There were 2 drains near the small kids pool and they were surrounded in grime. The pool area clearly had not been cleaned in a long time. The pool bathroom floor was soaked and there were paper towels in the sink and all over the floor. I picked a few up and put them in the garbage but it was disgusting.
The pool itself had cloudy water and I did not see one staff person in at any time doing a pool area check or chlorine test. The hot tub jets were barely working. The stairs leading up to the slide were pretty wobbly.
We returned to the pool the following day and it was evident that no clean up had taken place. There were still cheezies on the pool deck floor and the drains were still clogged with scunge.
Going to the pool you had to wait for a staff person to let you in because of COVID protocols which was fine, but the hotel is clearly very short staff as we had to wait several minutes for someone to let us in the pool area. The staff that was there was very nice and it was clearly too busy for them to monitor the pool entry while managing the front desk.
I don’t mind outdated hotels but for the price we paid I expect that the hotel has decent sanitation maintenance, and temperature controlled rooms. We will not be returning to this hotel.
Two areas though, are suggested for improvement; the cable TV kept losing its signal numerous times and we had to shut it off each time and then restart it and find our original channel — just as we were watching an exciting WPG Jets close game. This was very frustrating. We didn’t call for help as we were only there one night, and felt we could manage the annoying power re-starts. Secondly, we waited abt 10 min to check out which was far too long. Only one front desk staff was on duty and only one couple was in front of us checking out, but there seemed to be a problem with their bill or payment process or ?? so she was tied up for a long time. The manager (we assumed) walked out from the back office to the front desk to pick up a paper but retreated back to his office. We thought he was coming out to serve us. No he wasn’t.
This well run and established hotel can & should do better in both these areas.
Otherwise, the accommodations and service were very good!
The hotel room was older, but still comfortable and clean. Bed linens were clean and fresh and there were always housekeeping attendants around to get a fresh set of towels or amenities.
We had some technical problems with the tv and when we called, they sent someone up right away to look at it. The place was quiet at night, even though there were so many kids staying in the hotel. Room service was quick and hot and super tasty.
The check in and check out process was really efficient and easy. The front desk staff were knowledgeable and professional. Actually, every staff member we encountered was amazing and held open doors for us, smiled and greeted us, and even wished me a Happy Mother’s Day!
Overall, a really great stay and will definitely stay again. The staff made the experience so wonderful and you could really tell that they cared about their hotel and guests.
After complaints the did not offer any discount on a room that cost us $300 for one night.
