The rooms are a good size, and are kept very clean. I even had a large balcony! Extremely convenient with the metro 3 minutes away, a pizzeria and a little supermarket across the road. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak good English.
The walls are thin though, so if you're a light sleeper you may have trouble. Also, the wifi in the room works perfectly until you stop using it for a few minutes...it then logs you off automatically. Easy enough to sign back in, but a little irritating if you're messaging someone and they don't reply within 2 minutes!
Otherwise a great little place which is good value for money. I would definitely stay here again.

A standard city hotel with clean rooms of adequate size and a well fitted bathroom and aircon. We chose a non smoking room. E 20 deposit on room safe- refunded in full. Breakfast very average although a reasonable choice. Rooms on street side can be noisy. Take a travel kettle, cups etc- room has a fridge. Domino Pizza 2 minutes away and also other cafes used by locals. Taxi from Hotel to airport cost E 25 compared with E 45 when booked with HotelExtras to collect us from airport on arrival. Hotel 2 minutes from El Putxet Metro which is an ideal starting point for visiting all Barcelona. A book of 10 tickets is called a T10 ticket and costs E9.80 and is very good value as it took us to all the popular sites including the Aquarium and Museu National D’Art Catalunya (free to OAPs closed on Mondays) as well as the central Gaudis. T10 tickets covers all Metro lines so usually only need 1 ticket per day each way and seems to cover all zones. (You can tell how many trips left on the T10 by checking the last digit printed on the back after each use). Book on line for Sagrada Familia and Casa Battlo ( pronounced Bayeax) to avoid queues. We walked to Park Guell- 20 minutes -but could not find the hotel’s back street location when we returned on the Metro. Tip- find the Metro first and start your trips from there.
The Metro pick pockets are very skilled, usually women working in pairs much like Rome. Example- an outstretched elbow happening to rest on my bum bag. But then it started to move! The accomplice had worked her hand beneath her friend’s cloaked forearm and was unzipping my bag! Keep your hand on your money always.

We stayed in the hotel last week for 4 nights, having read previous reviews I was a little dubious however we were not disappointed we had a great stay at the hotel, the staff upon arrival were great showing us the best maps to use to get around pointing out landmarks to go to and the best way to get around Barcelona with the Metro. Yes the hotel is a 10 minute Metro trip into the centre but its so easy and cheaper then getting taxis everywhere the hotel is literally 10 minutes form anywhere and if you unsure of which line to get just ask the hotel staff who are more than happy to assist.
The hotel room was lovely basic but just what we needed for a weekend, we had a surprise in the room with jacuzzi bath which was great to use every night. We didnt have breakfast as we found really great places to eat round the town and in Barcelona for about 5 euros for a coffee and a pastry so this is reccommended
Fantastic visit to Barcelona and the Hotel was great thank you for all your assistance.

I stayed in this hotel for a weekend and I wouldn't have much to complain about. I found the place to be a very good deal, it's a very nice 3 star hotel, nice staff, very good rooms, comfy bed. I just found the location to be the only problem, a little far away from the main sites, but then the place is quiet....so it makes up for it. Parc Guell is a 15min walk from the hotel, cheap cafes and grocery stores all around so no need to spend the 11€ the hotel asks for a breakfast.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a quiet, comfortable room in Barcelona, while visiting for a few days. Don't go there if you need entertainment, nightlife or even Spanish Charm, it is after all a very good standard 3 star hotel...... :)

Well what can I say. The hotel is located near the excellent, clean, easy to use extensive Metro system which is the quickest way to get around (the nearest station is El Putxet), and you can easily reach each part of Barcelona. The rooms are clean and quiet and the breakfast is very good. I would have rated it as excellent until I became very very ill on my last day. I rang reception and asked if I could check out later and they gave me another couple of hours, but I was then pretty much thrown out of my room. I managed to get downstairs and collapsed on a sofa on reception where I had to stay, in between dashes for the loo, for 5 hours with no offer of a doctor, or help in any way. A single woman, travelling alone in a foreign country, throwing up every hour on the hour and frankly terrified that I would not be able to travel home. Somehow I made it to the airport and, although I was very ill on the plane, my dear friend came to the airport to meet me and got me home.
So, would I recommend this hotel? For value for money - yes. For service and caring staff - no.

A great hotel, especially for the price! Located in a quiet, upscale district of Barcelona with easy access to Metro/local trains (efficient 10-15min transport to the city center) and walking distance to amazing Parc del Turo del Putxet and Parc Guell. While Gaudi's Parc Guell is a must see, the adjacent Parc del Turo provides quiet (i.e. nearly tourist free) shaded views of the city. Pick up a few items at one of the nearby market and you have the makings of an ideal picnic!

The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming, one of the few places during our tour of Spain where they immediately offered a map and inquired if we needed any directions/recommendations.

The jet tubs in every room were very much appreciated after a day of walking the city!

Positives: friendly, very helpful staff; rooms quiet, clean, well updated; great location in quiet/safe neighborhood; proximity to transport/parks; easy wi-fi access; jet-tubs in each room; a great value!
Negatives: smaller rooms/bathrooms; our broken mini-bar was never repaired during our 5-night stay (would have been nice to have access to cool beverages)

We would definitely stay hear again on our next visit to Barcelona. If you don't mind a 10-15min ride into the city center it is worth certainly worth it for the quality of this hotel/neighborhood.

Just back from a long weekend in Barcleona and we stayed in the Mitre Hotel. It was a great location - only 5 metro stops from Catalunya (city centre) and the hotel was only two mins from the metro station. To find the hotel from the metro station take the balmes exit and then take the first left, the first right and the hotel will be on your right. Our room was quite basic but was clean and was plenty roomy for the two of us. The double bed was a proper double bed and not two beds pushed together. I had chanced my arm and requested a balcony and to my surprise they were wiling to give us a double room with a balcony but it would have taken an hour for the people in the room to check out and we were wrecked so we took a double room with no balcony.

The man on reception, Ricardo, was very helpful and patient and helped us organise our sightseeing. There was another guy there on our last night though who was a bit standoffish and not very helpful at all-didnt catch his name.

We went on the bus turistic and I'd really recommend it as a great way of seeing Barcelona in a day or two! The red stop is around 10-15 min walk from the hotel up at the top of the hill by the roundabout. A day pass was E20 and a 2 day pass was E26.

Had breakfast there one morning - E10 each and it was OK. Filled the gap! We had a safe in our room which we put a E20 deposit down on and got it back when we checked out. Our room was cleaned everyday.
There was no noise from the surrounding area at night as its a quiet area. Walls were perhaps a bit thin between the rooms and the corridor but not excessively so. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. The room also came with air conditioning at no extra cost.

To get home after a night out we took taxis and they cost between 12 and 14 euros which is great!

We generally ate in the city centre as we didnt find many places to eat in the area but since it was so close that didnt matter! Plus we found there was more of an atmosphere in the city.

A few must sees in Barcelona in general: Sagrada Familia (even though we didnt bother going into it), La Ramblas, the cable car to Barceloneta Beach, Portaventura (not technically in Barcelona but only an hours train journey away-make sure you get the priority passes when going in!!trust me-they're worth it!!), The Hard Rock Cafe, The Sunset Dance Club, Nou Camp, Park Guell, The Magic Fountain, Park de la Ciutadella.

Overall I would definitly recommend the mitre hotel to anyone!

The Mitre is in a nice location, not too far from the centre but close enough to everything, It is a quiet area no noise problems from the in hotel or area at all and the hotel and rooms are very clean and good for a 3 star (even has a whirlpool bath which we loved after a tiring day sight seeing) Noticed when in the centre the noise was very loud at times so it was great knowing i would have no problem sleeping of a night at the Mitre.
There are few small shops nearby and also some cafes& restaurants. It is very much an area with local people (all seemed to be friendly) and i definatly felt safe here.
The hotel is only a 2 minute walk from a metro station El Putxet which will take you on a direct line into the centre which only takes about 8-10mins. They come every 10mins also and the last metro from place catalunya back to the hotel is about 11.30pm.
TIP: if you have travelers cheques the hotel or surrounding areas do not exchange them, we wasted about an hour going into what we now know were only savers banks nearby trying to get them changed . In the end we ended up having to go place catalunya to get them changed but later on that day we noticed a Barclays bank about 10mins walk away from the hotel so you could prob get them changed there.
Also there is a bus stop at the top of the road 10-15min walk, we only found this out the day before we left, so if you need buses they are there and also there is the RED bus stop there this is for if you get the tourist bus that takes you to sights which you can hop on and off about (18euro a day) you can get off at the top them walk down to the hotel saves having to get off at place catalunya and paying the 1 euro.20 from place catalunya to El Putxet.
Also i had no problems with pickpockets, i was very worried about this before i went but i think its just about being sensible, have a zip on your bags, keep it in front of you and dont open you bag/purse in a pubic place where lots of people can see ( weeven but ribbon through the zip and then around the bag stap so there was no way a pick pocket could just unzip it without having to undo the ribbon 1st)
All in all very impressed and i would definatly stay here again!!!

Just back from Spain ....

Lived at Mitre Hotel for 3 nights in Barcelona. I and my girl friend booked the hotel at Seville one day before we arrived in Barcelona. We found that the hotels of Barcelona generally have rates quite high (80 Euro + is very usual, and 90+ is no surprise too....). We gave Mitre a try as the rate was only Euro 174 total for 3 nights, in which one night is Saturday. We knew from map that the place is not close to the central part of Barcelona city,i.e. the plaza Catalunya. After all , it is like at least 20 Euro less than other hotels for every night...and we accepted the down side of the more time that we must take for travelling to the attractions in the city.

Refer to the previous review, I think the reviewer departed in metro station instead of the FGC train station 'El Putxet'. The hotel is pretty close to this FGC train station and is really just 2-min walk from the station.

The hotel is quite new ...Facility is quite enough.. the bathroom has some water-massage system ...

All in all, good for the value...Unless you do absolutely hate taking some time to travel to city centre ( if going to where the Metro line covers, u gotta exchange lines at Diagonal , i.e., station Povenca as in UGC, or Catalunya )

The hotel was very clean, furnishings new and the hydromassage bath definitely a plus. However, the metro station was a good 10 - 15 minutes walk away (I don't understand how anyone could do it in 2 minutes, as stated by another reviewer) - walkable, but much further than I personally had anticipated. The staff at the counter were not terribly friendly - maps and guides to the city were not at all forthcoming - you'd have to request for them. TV programming in English was rather limited - to two news channels. And a warning - if you would like to park your car in the hotel's garage, you'd have to book in advance - spaces are very limited.

No parking available at the hotel. Only a 2 minute walk from the nearest metro station and then 10 minutes to Las Ramblas metro

I could not remember actual on site parking. Due to the location, alternate parking should be found.
