My husband recently spent 2 nights at the Hilton Milan. It was a wonderful experience, and we wouldn't hesitate to return. As others have mentioned, the hotel is a 5-minute walk from Milano Centrale, and a 10-minute subway ride from Il Duomo. There are several restaurants and stores nearby, including an Aldi supermarket right next door.
We were greeted with a warm welcome and the check-in process was smooth and quick. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was a pleasant surprise. Although we're Hilton Honors Gold members, we were aware that the hotel was sold out, possibly due to Milan Fashion Week.
Our room was on the 4th floor around the corner from the elevators. It was quite large and had a sitting area in addition to the sleeping area. The bathroom was a decent size, and I was grateful to see instructions on how to operate the shower posted on the wall.
The only recommendations/suggestions for improvement I have are minor and didn't disrupt our stay, nor warrant being addressed by staff:
- Additional/better lighting needed in the sitting room area in the suite
- Install a larger TV - it was quite difficult to watch TV from the bed due its location (far wall) and the room size.
- Install USB ports on the business desk or near the bed.
Breakfast was buffet style and a delicious assortment of pastries and breads, cold cuts, cheeses, fruit, as well as hot items such as scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and beans. Wait staff were on hand to take orders for eggs and omelets, coffee and waffles. Service was smooth, efficient and friendly. There was also a machine that produced freshly squeezed OJ 0- it isn't often that you see that included in a buffet!
We didn't have dinner at the onsite restaurant but had cocktails at the bar in the evening. The drinks were tasty and priced appropriately.
I highly recommend asking the concierge for recommendations of places to eat. Both restaurants he recommended - Il Tavolino for pizza, and Barzac for an authentic Italian meal - were spot on. Be sure to check them out during your stay. They are less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Hilton Milan and encourage you to consider staying there while in Milan.
