They say that the only places that will thrive Despite a bad economy will be the ones with great customer service ... which I guess means this hotel should be shutting doors down there soon. Right? My bad experience started in the USA, when I called the 1-800 line for Barcelo hotels to ask about how many beds the "family" suite we had booked would have. The hotel operator had the nerve to tell me she does not know, and that I should call USA directly to ask? huh? Is not that HER job??? After I yelled a bit, she made the call and got me an answer. We showed up at the hotel, Which is actually quite nice, and neatly kept. It is right across from the ocean, but I think it is a bit of a stretch to say it is across from a beach-it is not really a "beach" area. It is not convenient at all to public transit-allow 20 minutes to walk to the nearest metro stop, and an another 20 minutes to get into the city center. Assume that if you have any luggage, you will have to take a taxi to and from the airport, Which Will be about 35 euros each way (without traffic). .... Then there is the lousy hotel service. We have been here 4 days so far, and 3 of those days the wifi service has been broken. Which means I am spending lots of money on accessing wifi on my iphone, I have a job where I simply need to have wifi access to check my emails. Oh yeah-then, we tried to order room service, and got our food two hours later after multiple phone calls and more yelling. Lots of other small details lend to my labeling of this hotel as a "2-star" place. They give you shampoo, conditioner or lotion but not. The televisions look 20 years old and have very few channels. There appears to be no alarm clock, no coffee maker, and no easy way to get hot water from the restaurant when they are closed (which seems to be most of the time). We have 2 days left at this hotel, and I must confess, I can not wait to leave. My suggestion? find a hotel that is in the central part of the city. Trust me, you will thank me.
