The Met Éireann funded TRANSLATE research report is now published. Here, we provide a comprehensive overview of the new Irish climate standards and projections, as well as the development and application of climate services, specifically a GIS-based semi-quantitative risk framework and a fully quantitative risk framework. Plenty of new data, standards, and frameworks that should be of interest if working in the climate space in Ireland. For two sunny days in Cork data stewardship, open research and the Sonraí Conference were the hot topic. Speakers, panelists and attendees all leaned into the theme, Challenges and Opportunities. We considered role of infrastructure and the relationship with data stewards. We discussed how data stewards can act as translators between infrastructure, ethics, compliance and the researchers. Who pays and funding of course came to the fore but also the wider context of cultural change, research integrity, rewards and incentives for open research and buy in from institutional leadership was explored. The discussion was lively and thought provoking but also open, honest and optimistic about the future! There are challenges but also opportunities. A key takeaway for me is that as part of the coalition of the willing I must lead from where I am and continue to advocate for and enable an inclusive and holistic transition to an Open Research landscape. I truly feel that through Irish Data Stewardship Network Sonraí I have found my tribe. And this is just the beginning, Sonraí has big plans and we hope to see you all again soon! Huge thank to the Sonraí project partners, especially Junwen Luo, my colleagues in UCC Library, our excellent speakers and panelists, the amazing Hazel Hurley our visual scribe and our supportive and engaged audience in making the first Sonraí Conferences such a success.
