Launched in September 2023, our MSc in Clinical Measurement Physiology is a full-time programme designed to support you in developing the knowledge, skills, and professional attributes necessary to practice as a Clinical Measurement Physiologist. The Clinical Measurement Physiology programme will appeal to science graduates with a background in physiology and individuals from other healthcare professionals interested in developing professional skills in the diagnostic evaluation of patients in one of four different disciplines: cardiology, neurology, gastrointestinal and respiratory science. A unique element of this programme is the focus on neonatal physiology. We aim to provide an excellent educational experience in both academic and clinical environments and to support you as you develop the necessary attributes to contribute to the constantly advancing and evolving nature of clinical measurement science. The third Irish Implementation Science Training Institute Seminar recently took place in UCC. #ISTI2024 Following a very successful seminar, we wish to thank the facilitators, speakers, HIRH staff, staff at Nano Nagle Place & UCC, and Health Research Board (HRB) who collaborated to make this seminar possible. We are thankful to the participants & hope you expanded your knowledge of implementation science. Prof Ella Arensman, Head of School of Public Health, said: "I would like to congratulate Dr Sheena Mc Hugh McHugh, Tania McCollum and all colleagues involved in organising an excellent three-day seminar on behalf of the Health Implementation Research Hub , which they organised for the 3rd subsequent year. The Seminar was attended by more than 60 delegates, including representatives from the US, Australia and the UK. Delegates covered a wide range of settings and topics, including primary care, hospital settings, community settings, and the Irish prison service, and health priorities, such as diabetes management, neonatal care, kidney transplantation, mental health and dementia. The Health Implementation Research Hub fulfils a critical role in increasing capacity building in transferable skills in implementation research across Public Health priorities, and I am delighted to see the increasing global interest. Professor Helen Whelton presented an engaging closing statement at the Network Meeting on Tuesday evening in UCC's Aula Maxima, whereby she underlined the leadership of Sheena and her team in Implementation Science at both national and global levels. CiSA Impact Report Highlights: 2021-2022 "As Head of the College of Medicine and Health (CoMH) I am proud to present the College of Medicine and Health interdisciplinary Seed Awards (CiSA) Supporter Impact Report. https://lnkd.in/e7K_EfcM This report offers a window into the multidisciplinary research being carried out at University College Cork and the direct correlation with improving patient outcomes. Research impact takes many years to unfold, and in this publication, we highlight the early and immediate outcomes of projects made possible through the 2021 CiSA Awards. These initial impacts will undoubtedly be augmented as researchers build on their findings and pursue larger grants. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each of our partners - Boston Scientific, GSK, Laya healthcare and Pfizer for the steadfast support of our research endeavours. It is the spirit of philanthropy that paved the way for us to establish the CiSA seed funding awards back in 2019 and since then, the CiSA Awards have been a catalyst for forging both clinical and non-clinical research collaborations. Delivering positive patient benefits continues to be a key driver of the CoMH research strategy, and with this in mind, the UCC Academic Health Sciences (AHS) was formed in 2022. The UCC AHS works in tandem with the CoMH health sciences schools to provide a formal channel for cooperation with its affiliated health partners Thanks to the ongoing generosity of our partners, we are delighted to announce the continuation of our seed funding awards programme in 2024. However, in recognition of the critical importance of the recently formed AHS the awards will be renamed from CiSA to the AHS Awards. Regardless of the name, we anticipate an array of groundbreaking research that will significantly benefit the healthcare sector in Ireland and enhance the quality of life for patients." CoMH Summer 2024 Conferrings On Friday 28th June, CoMH staff, graduands and their families gathered in UCC’s Devere Hall for our Summer Conferrings. President John O'Halloran opened the ceremony, warmly welcoming attendees to UCC to celebrate our students’ extraordinary talent as they graduate on this incredibly special day. The ceremony was also livestreamed and President O’Halloran welcomed those “special people, not here in person, who want to share this wonderful day, this special moment, with our graduates.” With graduates from all of CoMH’s six Schools, graduating from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, President O’Halloran said he is very aware that students benefit greatly from the support received from family and partners, and there was a lovely moment during the ceremony when our graduates turned and applauded those who have supported them on their journey through UCC. President O’Halloran also thanked UCC colleagues for the commitment shown to students, he acknowledged they have one objective, to ensure our students are successful. Prof Patricia Leahy-Warren, Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, commented that: “It is a source of great joy to have 167 students graduate this Summer and these conferrings are a highlight of the CoMH calendar. We are immensely proud of the achievements of our recent graduate Jack Murray from School of Pharmacy, UCC. Jack is a PhD student in Pharmaceutics at UCC. His research explores computational methods to streamline the development of orally administered drug candidates. He obtained his BPharm and MPharm from UCC and completed his pre-registration training at Mercy University Hospital Congratulations to all five UCC scholars on receiving prestigious Fulbright Commission Ireland for 2024-25. https://lnkd.in/eZcZgDX7
