We participated in the 10th Africa Sustainable Urban Mobility Course in Abuja, where the need for sustainable, safe, and efficient transport modes in Nigerian cities was emphasised. Currently, there is insufficient non-motorised transportation (NMT) and public transport infrastructure in Nigerian cities, but efforts are being made to improve the situation. The National Cycling Policy sets the goal of achieving a 10% modal share for cycling by 2030. During the workshop, Olorunola Olufemi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, delivered a speech emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable, safe, and efficient transport modes in Nigerian cities, considering the challenges posed by rapid urbanization and population growth. We presented on key topics essential for sustainable urban mobility, including ✅ Complete street design principles, ✅ Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) planning principles, and ✅ Design exercise for safer intersection.

Here is how cities in the region have been improving public transport https://lnkd.in/g-K7Brrd
The Kenya Motor Vehicle Tax proposal is a great opportunity for us to rethink the state of our public transport. An efficient mass transit system means commuters will not need to use private vehicles. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dCKdJyCB
