Day 2 Bonus: A map of Lagos showing the Railway Routes. As Lagos continues to grow and evolve, so too does its transportation network. The recent commissioning of the BLUE LINE railway from Okokomaiko to Marina marks a significant step forward in enhancing mobility within the city. Under the visionary leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo - Olu, commercial operations have commenced on the first phase, running from Mile 2 to Marina with essential stop-overs at key locations including National Theatre, Iganmu, Alaba, and Mile 2. But the excitement doesn't stop there! The ongoing construction of the RED LINE promises even greater connectivity across the city. Spanning 37 kilometres from Ebute Metta (Oyingbo) to Agbado, this railway line intersects with major passenger routes such as Agege, Mushin, Yaba, Oshodi, Jibowu, and more. Once completed, the RED LINE will further streamline travel, reducing travel times and enhancing accessibility for residents and visitors alike. The introduction of these railway routes not only improves commercial movement but also alleviates traffic congestion, promoting a more sustainable and livable city. #LagosRailway #InfrastructureDevelopment #UrbanMobility #qgis

Head of Administration & Training l General Manager I Strategic Business Coach I Management Consultant
PATHWAYS TO PROJECT SUCCESS: Imposed objectives and unrealistic expectations are major reasons many projects fail. This makes the project managers struggle with the project multiple constraints. Proper planning of procurement, human resources, risks and stakeholders management can help the project manager succeed. In 2010, before we started rail rehabilitation of tracks between Jebba to Kano, our project team had careful planning of project execution so we divided the team into four locations: Minna, Kaduna, Zaria and Kano with workforce spread across three northern states. We had challenges: Kaduna crisis, snake and scorpion bites but our medical team were on ground to help. I actually escaped Kaduna crisis with my team with the military ambulance provided by our employer-- @Costain (West Africa) Plc. Most difficult aspect of the project was timeline. We were slowed down due to the bureaucracy nature of public sector official who supervised and coordinated the project. But it was a career breakthrough for me. I grabbed quality workplace skills as I was performing multiple tasks: internal controls, warehousing, stock control, wages and salary, procurement, office practice, HR, banking relationship, labour relations, project management, etc. However this did not come without paying price of time and family distance ( I left my newly married wife and twin in Lagos) hovering across Kaduna, Kano and Minna. The project was a successful but not without challenges. We came. We saw and conquered. #project #finance #planning #risks #career
