🔋 #QuitoSostenible | El Municipio de Quito, a través del Fondo Ambiental de Quito, presentó y entregó cuatro vehículos ligeros de cero emisiones en el marco del proyecto 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗽𝗹𝘂𝘀, una iniciativa global financiada por el Programa de Investigación e Innovación Horizonte 2020 de la Unión Europea. Estos innovadores vehículos, diseñados y fabricados por MIRAL Autobuses, forman parte del plan piloto de movilidad eléctrica en 10 ciudades alrededor del mundo. El Fondo Ambiental de Quito, en colaboración con la Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) , ha sido el encargado de canalizar los recursos económicos para la realización de este proyecto, teniendo como contraparte técnica a la Secretaría de Movilidad Quito. Su uso estará destinado a las actividades de reciclaje del Centro de Educación y Gestión Ambiental (CEGAM) Manuela Sáenz, a la Empresa de Transporte de Pasajeros Quito, y a la Administración Zonal La Mariscal, entidades responsables de su operación, asegurando que su uso maximice los beneficios para nuestra comunidad. 🌍🚍 #FunFacts: The #eBRT2030 project is committed to closely collaborate with end-users to enhance eBRT services, aligning them with the real needs of citizens.   What needs to be done to electrify Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in the Global South? The eBRT2030 project brings together expertise from diverse stakeholders, including public transport operators, bus manufacturers, technology providers, and academia. The project will test these innovative solutions in real-life demos across Europe and share valuable lessons with the Global South.   An important focus of the project will be to translate and apply eBRT solutions not only in Europe, but also to tackle challenges on pollution and emissions in developing countries. To raise awareness and promote investments on active mobility in Africa, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and its partners are leading the development of a Pan-African Action Plan for Active Mobility (PAAPAM). A series of stakeholder consultations are being held on 23rd and 25th July 2024 and on 11th and 12th September 2024 to finalize this action plan which will provide guidance on priority actions that governments and relevant stakeholders could implement over the next ten years to ensure healthy, safe, equitable and #SustainableTransport for road users, especially pedestrians and cyclists. Partner presentation: Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) We've already introduced you to our coordinator AVL DiTEST and now it is time to tell you more about the host of our recent General Assembly meeting, Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) . With commitments from industry and government, UEMI functions as an open forum for knowledge transfer and support for the take-up of e-mobility solutions around the world. It facilitates dialogue and continues to gather commitments from local and national governments, civil society and other key stakeholders such as businesses and academia. By bringing together committed cities, road safety agencies, and experts, the project aims to create safer urban environments. BOOST a collaboration with GIZ, seeks to unlock local job creation potential through sustainable mobility initiatives. By partnering with local entrepreneurs and technical experts, BOOST aims to foster economic growth and climate action. ♀️Working towards gender equality in transportation! 🚍 In Quito, the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) granted scholarships for 17 women to study and obtain professional driving licenses to drive buses and logistics vehicles. 🇪🇺 Thanks to the funding from the European Union through the SOLUTIONSplus project and a joint effort with the Quito Municipal Public Transport Operator (EPMTPQ), the Courier School promoted by Grupo Entregas and the Pichincha Drivers' Union, this important milestone for inclusive mobility has been achieved. ⚡ The initiative was also supported by UN Environment Programme as part of the project E-Mobility as a driver for change: towards a gender transformative and just transition to electric mobility which collected baseline data about the situation of women in transport in Ecuador. 📣One of UEMI's goals is to keep empowering women in electric mobility with the projects implemented in Quito and Ecuador. #WomenInTransport #GenderGap #ElectricMobility #EmpoweringWomen #InclusiveMobility

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the recent training by Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) & GIZ Rwanda for University of Rwanda students & professionals interested in the EV space. We introduced our EV maintenance in partnership with Safe Auto garage and charging infrastructure. Our team also shared technical insights on battery health and performed a diagnostic demonstration. These elements are critical to the strength of the EV ecosystem we are building in Rwanda. Together, we are driving towards a sustainable future! 🌍
