Furtado's dark locks were parted in the middle, and effortlessly flowed down straight past her shoulders.

In a lengthy caption, Nelly opened up about her upcoming single titled, Corazón, which will be released on Friday, July 12.

She also got candid about the process of putting her seventh studio album together which took four years - and also revealed she had created a whopping '400-500 pieces of music' during that span of time.

'How do you explain a song that took 2 years to make, in three different cities, with an army of people, and that's just the ONE SONG named CORAZÓN,' the star began.

She explained that creating music is not a 'job' for her, but is rather something 'personal.'

'Music is my whole language and life and love and blessing, so sometimes it's hard for me to wrap that up in a bow.'

The I'm Like A Bird songstress added, 'I first felt the energy of what Corazón would become on a trip to Colombia with a couple of friends and then I kept on recording and four years later I have an album.'

'And it's really always about the journey, honestly. That's the sad part because you can't relive the journey - the magic and lessons happen DURING the journey.'

However, out of the large amount of pieces that had been made, 14 songs were chosen for the new album.

'Phew - they come together just by nature of being in the same collection, 7, kind of like random seashells that may be similar but not at all alike.'

In regards to the process of creating the album, Nelly admitted that she 'experienced it all and cried the tears and made the friendships and felt the joy and fear and pain and I learned a lot and that's all that matters.'

'What is cool though, every time I would doubt myself I would see the number 7 everywhere,' she continued, possibly hinting at what was behind the title of the album.

In conclusion, Nelly gave a special shout out to all that were involved in bringing the album to life, and revealed that the music will drop later this year on September 20.

'I cried a lot in the studio,' she admitted. 'But it's not a sad album. Because quickly, my Friday nights at the studio became my whole social life...It quickly became like, a celebration, you know?'

'You can show up to the studio with a little bit of heartbreak, and you can quickly turn it into - it's like you're mining for gold.'

She added, 'You're kind of mining and then you see a glimmer of gold, and then all of a sudden, it's a gold rush of passion and inspiration, joy, tears, celebration...'

'In her spare time, she would come to the studio and she even wrote some songs with me. Total blessing. I could've never imagined that.'
