Christian McCaffrey hints why he and Olivia Culpo didn't invite 'bitter' Cam Newton to their wedding

Christian McCaffrey has fired back at Cam Newton after his former Carolina Panthers teammate admitted he was 'bitter' not to have been invited to his wedding.

McCaffrey, who reached Super Bowl LVIII with the San Francisco 49ers last season, tied the knot with Olivia Culpo at a lavish ceremony in his partner's home state of Rhode Island last month.

A number of famous faces from the NFL world were invited to the wedding, including the 49ers star's teammates Kyle Juszczyk and George Kittle and commentator Greg Olsen.

However, there was no invite for Newton - much to the ex-Panthers quarterback's surprise.

During the latest instalment of his '4th & 1' podcast, Newton expressed his shock at the snub from McCaffrey, whom he shared a locker room with for three seasons in Carolina.

Referring to an old dispute he had with 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, the 35-year-old said: 'Look, damn, C Mac, I couldn’t get an invite? Is it because of the Brock Purdy beef? Was Brock there?'

After hearing what Newton had to say, McCaffrey responded to a clip on social media of his comments and suggested he was not invited because they haven't spoken for four years.

He recalled a conversation with Olsen in which he admitted the day would have been a lot more special had Newton been present.

McCaffrey wrote: 'Me: *Talking to Greg at the bar "This was a great night, but you know what would’ve made it even better?"

'Greg: "What?" Me: "If Cam were here. I haven’t got a text back in 4 years. In fact, they just go green now."

'Greg: *Takes sip of whiskey "He would’ve loved it… 4 years? Even on Instagram.

'Me: "Only once on there but that don’t count” (Insert laugh track). *He orders another round while they both sit in silence for 30 seconds.

'Christian: "Why don’t he love me man?"

But the 49ers running back has responded to his comments and suggested they haven't spoken for four years

McCaffrey and Culpo tied the knot at a dreamy oceanside chapel near Taylor Swift's house

Newton then replied to McCaffrey's comment by joking: 'What [phone] number do you have?! (share it here) – love.'

The former NFL MVP had also joked that he would have 'crashed' his former teammate's wedding had he received an invite.

'F**k that, man! You lucky I wasn’t there C Mac, because I would’ve crashed that mother f**ker.

'I would’ve crashed it man, oh my God it looked like they had so much fun. I don’t know if I would’ve been able to go.

'I at least wanted to say, "Bro I can’t make it." I at least wanted to give you a present or something.'
