Anya Taylor-Joy 'flees restaurant to avoid awkward run-in with the stars of Fantastic Four after almost being cast in the film'

Anya Taylor-Joy reportedly avoided an 'awkward' run-in with the cast of Fantastic Four in London on Wednesday night.

The actress, 28, was seen making a hasty exit from the Chiltern Firehouse restaurant after the upcoming film's stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn, as well as director Matt Shakman, made their entrance.

Anya was said to have been dropped from the upcoming blockbuster after being in talks to the star as the villain Silver Surfer.

According to The Sun, the film star fled the swanky restaurant to avoid any awkward moments with the cast when she saw them inside.

A source said: 'Anya looked happy and relaxed when she arrived for dinner. But she left about five minutes later looking pretty annoyed.

'It turned out that Pedro, Joseph and Vanessa were all inside eating and it seems Anya saw them and turned on her heel.

'She made a quick exit and seemed to be pretty angry by the look of her face.'

The publication reports that Anya left the Chiltern Firehouse at 8:34pm, just three minutes after she went inside.

She then got into her chauffeur-driven car and drove away.

Pedro, Vanessa and Joseph were seen leaving the restaurant just before 11pm.

Anya was previously said to be in the running for the role of Silver Surfer but it was reported in April that Julia Garner has been cast in the role.

Pedro will play Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa will star as Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman and Joseph will play her brother Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch.

The film will also feature Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm aka The Thing.

In 2005, the first big-screen adaptation of Fantastic Four debuted starring Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, a role he reprised in the 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Joining him were Jessica Alba as Sue Storm/Invisible Girl, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

While the initial film enjoyed success, grossing $154.6 million domestically and $333.5 million worldwide from a $100 million budget, the 2007 sequel saw a slight decline, earning $131.9 million domestically and $301.9 million worldwide with an increased budget of $130 million.

After a prolonged hiatus, 20th Century Fox attempted to revive the franchise in 2015 with a reboot that featured Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Invisible Girl, Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch, and Jamie Bell as The Thing.

However, the film was met with scathing reviews and reports of production turmoil, resulting in disappointing box office returns of $56.1 million domestically and $167.8 million worldwide, against a reported budget of $120 million.
