Kamal Haasan is living one of the most interesting times in his career, on one side he has delivered a Rs 500 crore hit in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, and on the other hand, he is teaming up with his old friend Mani Ratnam after more than two decades for Thug Life. He will next be seen in Shankar’s Indian 2; the sequel to his 1996 blockbuster film Hindustani.

The film is slated for release on 12th July, and will be clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira but going by the numbers, the film has taken a decent start at the box office, at least in the United States of America. While advance booking for the film has opened in limited numbers in India, it is the USA where ticket sales began at least 2 weeks before the release date. For its premiere shows, the film has till now sold more than 10,000 tickets, amassing nearly US $ 237,000 ( Rs 1.97 crore) as per Track BO. The film is seeing a steady growth in its numbers, just 5 days ago, the film had sold just 5600 tickets.
Initially, Indian 2 was planned as a sequel, but director Shankar has expanded it into a trilogy, with the third part set to release next year. During editing, he realized the second part had substantial scope, leading him to split it into two films. The cast includes Siddharth, Kajal Agarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and SJ Suryah. While A. R. Rahman composed the original's music, Anirudh has taken over for this installment. Following Indian 2, Shankar will release Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani.
