Syria Cross-Border Türkiye

On 6 February, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck southern Türkiye. This is the strongest earthquake recorded in the region since 1939. At least 78 aftershocks were reported, followed by a second earthquake of 7.5 magnitude. The earthquake also severely affected north-west Syria, a region where 3.1 million people are in need of health related humanitarian assistance. Currently, Syrian communities are simultaneously affected by an ongoing cholera outbreak and a severe winter events. Humanitarian assistance is largely overstretched, and a 69 percent funding gap has been identified for the last quarter of 2022.

Based in Gaziantep,Türkiye, the Health Cluster does cross-border work to provide medical care to families in northern Syria. The Turkey Hub monitors attacks against health care in Syria, of which there is an extreme number. Services also include vaccination, trauma care and chemical incident management.

The information displayed here is updated in reference to the Health Cluster dashboard, in quarterly periods.
