When emergencies occur, coordination is necessary. No one organization can respond to a crisis alone.

The work of the Health Cluster is guided by its Strategic Framework and workplan that articulate its vision, mission and strategic priorities.

Task Teams are in place to implement key components of the Health Cluster workplan. The Health Cluster collaborates with the World Health Organization and other partners on specific thematic projects and works closely with other Clusters to strengthen multi-sectoral action and improve health outcomes in emergency settings.

As outlined in one of the Health Cluster strategic priorities, the Health Cluster works to ensure capacity to fulfill coordination functions for national and sub-national coordination platforms in acute and protracted emergencies by building capacity on coordination at all levels.

Strategic Framework

The work of the Health Cluster is designed around its 2020 - 2025 strategy and the corresponding workplan.

Vision

To save lives and promote dignity in humanitarian and public health emergencies.

Mission

The Health Cluster collectively prepares for and responds to humanitarian and public health emergencies to improve the health outcomes of affected populations through timely, predictable, appropriate and effective coordinated health action.

Key strategic approaches

  • Strengthen coordination for collective action and collective results.
  • Ensuring empowered leadership is in place.
  • Building capacity of national and local health partners.

Strategic priorities

Five strategic priorities guide the work of the GHC and provide a structure in which to examine our accomplishments and challenges.
