In the last week have returned from a fantastic safari holiday staying at this beautiful location with its stunning views. We were first met by the lovely John, who collected us from our overnight accommodation in Nairobi & then escorted us to Wilson for our departure to the Mara.
At Angama our accommodation was excellent, very clean & well appointed.
George, the Manager, was very welcoming & had a great sense of humour. We were very well looked after by another George, our butler. Truly a lovely chap who always greeted us with such a warm welcome whatever the time of day & nothing was too much trouble.
Our excellent guide & driver, Elly, was just so keen & full of enthusiasm to make sure we got the best experience possible & this enabled us seeing the fantastic wildlife, including the Big 5, within the 5 days we were with him, plus finding beautiful locations for an outdoor breakfast & coffee stops.
Saying that, all the staff we came into contact with, whether being escorted to & from our 'tent' during the hours of darkness or those we just casually met, were so polite & welcoming.
We experienced some lovely food at all meals & Evans, the chef, was only too pleased to share his recipes if asked. A tour around the kitchen garden followed by lunch there was a real treat too. Head gardener, Jeremy, showed us around & then freshly picked various items that he then prepared to accompany our lunch.
My wife took advantage of a couple of massages & she was very professionally looked after by Celine, receiving the treatments with the back drop of the Mara from our tent, unbelievable !
A real blessing was the inclusive laundry service, as for when travelling lightly this is a real plus👍🏻
So if you're looking for somewhere special to be looked after & get the full safari experience then look no further, you'll not be disappointed !

Dear aesica, On behalf of the Angama team, thank you for sharing your experience here - which some interested folks have already found helpful. We were particularly pleased to see that you appreciated the attitude of our team of askaris - the security men & women who accompany guests at night - as even those who are learning English take pride in ensuring that guests feel welcome, and cared for. James, Japhet, Sammy and the team in the laundry also joining me in thanking you for appreciating their work, so our warmest thanks from the whole team for coming to stay, Kind regards, Steve

I am not sure where to start from, but it was a perfect experience from start till end. As I arrived, my guide was waiting for me at the air strip, gently introduced me to the place and to the animals that were gracious enough to welcome all the visitors. My tent had all the needed amenities and overlooked the Masai Triangle. Occasionally, I did have visitors, such a cuddly hyrax that allowed for a selfie. The electric blanket provided well desired warmth while lying in bed gazing at the twinkling stars or silently listening to the thunder and gushing rain. The laundry service was a great plus and my house keeper, Violet, did a great job taking care of the place. My guide, John, was also considerate and experienced such as our gracious butler. Finally, my hike guide, John, was extremely knowledgeable and taught me much about the plants and Masai heritage and culture. I would love to visit again and would recommend everyone does so as well!

From the title of your lovely post all the way to your desire to return filled our hearts with pride. Thank you for this lovely review. It could have been titled The Three Johns. Together with Violet they all asked me to forward their heartfelt thanks for your kind comments about the way in which they cared for you. And now for some happy news. I am sure you noticed that Violet was expecting a baby - well, as soon as you left she surprised us all by having her babe two and a half weeks early. Babe and mother are both well, I am happy to add. We all look forward to welcoming you back to the beautiful Mara soon Warm regards and a happy New Year Nicky

My family of 6 adults and 4 children decided to take an impromptu trip to Masai Mara and my sister found great reviews on Angama Mara and we decided to go with it.

There is very little I'd change about this place for it to be perfect! The tents were well equipped with everything from milk for your coffee to an air horn to call for help Incase you forgot to close your balcony and a baboon decides to visit. (Luckily they didn't have to be used) The pantry was well stocked, a few good reads left around the room for your evenings in, and great toiletries and amenities. Perhaps an iron would be a great addition (but then again they offer free laundry service, so why would one want to iron their own clothes, time permitting?)

What stands out here is the incredible service though. From Joseph who tended to our every need, and James who was our private butler, there was no room for any want. Everything was handled with extreme professionalism and efficiency, but most importantly, a massive smile. From housekeeping, to the manager and everyone in between, there was a genuine warmth exuding from everyone which made us feel right at home. The highlight for me was Alice, our safari guide who was there every morning at the crack of dawn, or even before to take us out to the park for our game drives or drive us to our sunrise hot air balloon ride. Not only was she an encyclopedia of information and knew the workings of the Mara and its inhabitants inside out, she was extremely good with keeping the kids engaged and within a day, became an extension to our family. Her good vibes and warmth were unparalleled to any guide I've come across anywhere, ever. Flying out of the Mara to Nairobi, the last words I heard from the kids were, 'We're going to miss Alice'. I miss Alice, too!

The food served at the common guest center was very good, and the chef was open to take requests and food preferences. They rotated the menu to keep it interesting. The picnics packed for breakfast on our game drives were extremely well thought out from yoghurt with granola, sausages, passion fruit juice, some fruit, an egg sandwich and the works. What stood out though was the bush BBQ hosted by the hotel which served fresh bread, Guac, hummus and fresh vegetables as starters, followed by some of the best BBQ-ed meats, chicken, fish and eggplant that I've ever had. The ambience in the bush with bonfires and candle light were perfect. The sundowner with a Masai warrior dance performance another night was absolutely well organized too.

I would highly recommend Angama Mara to anyone looking for an absolutely holistic experience in Masai Mara. They are only a year old, but the years of experience they have in their owner and staff reflects in every aspect of their service. I left with a heavy heart.

Thank you so much for one of the loveliest reviews we have had this far. Your enthusiastic and warm account of your recent stay with us totally made our day. And i am thrilled you got the guide with the biggest most infectious smile of all - there is no smile that matches Alice's. When she turns around to tell you something her face is always split into two by the biggest beam ever. How lucky we are to have her on our team. We also loved the fact that you also thanked Joseph and James (who also has a great smile) by name - we love it when our guests do that. There is an oft-repeated saying: "We came to Africa for the wildlife but we will return because of the people" and I think your wonderful review bears testament to that. Please all come back soon - the team at the lodge miss you already!

My daughter and I stayed at Angama Mara on a 3 country trip to Africa. Angama made our trip complete. The staff is second to none. The accommodations are sparkling clean. The food is gourmet. The setting is magical!

We were greeted with a standing ovation from Josephat (manager) and Charity (our butler). Once we arrived we worried about absolutely nothing. We were given a briefing and told that they will work whatever schedule we wanted. The reception/dining areas were first class and looked out over the Mara (which looks like it goes on forever). The tents were huge and provided plenty of space for us. Details included heated blankets on the beds, escorts to and from our tent after sundown, laundry service, stocked fridge, wet bar, etc.

We knew we would enjoy our safari, but it was made unforgettable by Angama Mara!

Dear Brian Thank you both so much for coming to stay with us and for sending through this wonderful review. The team at the lodge takes huge pride in delighting our guests and love the feedback after their stay. Josephat runs a fine ship and never seems to tire and always has a ready smile for everyone. This is Charity's first mention on TripAdvisor (she is assisting us for the busy season) and is mightily chuffed to be mentioned. Heartfelt thanks from us all Nicky
