The outside of the motel needed some work. The rooms were clean but decor is dated. The staff was friendly and helpful. We rented 2 rooms and we had to change one of the rooms because there was a bunch of stuff blocking the door.

On my way to Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump, I was looking for a motel that was safe, comfortable and not too tucked away. The Bluebird Motel checked all the boxes and then some. Thanks to Kathy who checked me in and gave me a bit of the history of this lovely little spot right off Hwy 2! She was most friendly and kind. The room was clean, with a small fridge and microwave, shampoo and conditioner and a large TV. But, the little details are what make this motel memorable. Quaint pics and memorabilia on the walls, quilt on the bed and a grandma commode with sink. I especially loved the Evening in Paris perfume bottle on display. That was a favourite scent for my mother. All in all, I absolutely can recommend this motel, but phone in advance. They are busy and I can see why.

Hard to find anything bad to say about this place. It offers a glimpse back to an earlier era of automobile-based accommodations and does it very well. This place embraces its history and allows you to feel a connection to the past.
The room was clean, well appointed, and offered everything we needed for our two night stay. Having driven by for so many years it was great to finally have a reason to stop and stay here. We were not disappointed and are already thinking of new reasons to come back.

Finally decided to stay over at the Bluebird Motel, have been driving by 50+ years. What an experience. No one man's the desk at all you have to call and have her come to the office. Thought the price was $87 charged us $97 I can live with that. Had a small kitchenette opened the door to see if there was dish soap and the floor under the sink was disgusting totally covered in mouse droppings, when we called she came with a vacuum and vacuumed but did not disinfect the area. Makes one wonder how thoroughly the place us cleaned. The sink in the bathroom had soap scum on the counter likely from previous stay. No offer to move us, I was ready to move in myself! Check out again have to call her down to the office for a printout receipt had to wait for her to do audit ??? Likely closeout from yesterday (whatever) then says she needs to give us a discount, refunds us $19.00 and we drive away. I look at receipts and notice that the credit card number is different so back we go and she snatches the receipt from his hand when he said that wasn't our card said she was glad he came back but no you don't get any refund I was going to just let everything go because it could be a charming little place I'm sure it was at one point but I do believe it really needs an attitude adjustment. And to not know that you had most droppings that much under a sink boggles my mind.

We have relatives in Calgary, but wanted to stay in a motel as we have a new puppy. Bit of a drive, but that was okay. I had stayed here in the past, maybe 2005 an really enjoyed the room. But this trip was totally different. In fact think there were no other guests except couple of rooms looked like they had permanent occupants. The room was clean but definitely needs upgrades. Bathroom wasn't bad. Although the sink was out in the bedroom area. We had two queen size beds that were comfortable. Could use a new fridge and carpet. But then the worst.....we were booked for several nights and they had rules according to "COVID", which has been over for a year now. Which meant they do not enter the room until we have checked out. Thus when we got back to the room the first night, nothing had been touched, no clean towels, bed hadn't been made, nor the garbage emptied. The trees outside shed some sort of seed/leaf and were tracked into the room. We had to skip taking a shower the second morning. Wow! The motel was not as I remembered it, yard wasn't maintained, doors in bad shape, etc. etc. But all in all still not a bad motel for its age, still like the antique touch. Next trip will probably get something closer to Calgary and definitely more updated. But have to admit the price was great for the two of us and the puppy.

spotlessly clean, friendly staff, v comfortable bed. Adorable vintage furniture rooms with original Stampede posters. we have the 2 bedroom suite which has 1950s kitchen including 1950s table and chairs. out of our kitchen window is a horse pasture and a heritage log barn probably over 100 years old. The Bluebird is one of a kind, please never become a Best Western! will definitely return.

The Blue Bird Motel is quirky and charming in a loose way. I wanted to like the motel, but the first room we got was full of bugs. The desk clerk said that they were "carpet beetles" and gave us another room, which was fine, but when my wife tried to take a shower in the evening after dinner, she ran out of hot weather quickly while she was washing her hair. Not fun. Sorry, but for nearly a hundred bucks I expect a little more. that being said, there aren't many choices in this area and if you are only staying a night The Blue Bird is likely to be fine.

Like the above reviewer we were looking for a place to stay whilst visiting the Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump.
The Motel was excellent. The site is right next to the road - which is easy to find but could be noisy - but there seemed to be enough soundproofing to mean that a good night's sleep was no problem. Their stated aim is to "Sell Sleep - Not Parties"!
Each room has a theme - we stayed in the Gene Awtrey (sp?) room. A good twenty minute's entertainment was has reading the little collection of memorabilia about this forties/fifties western singing star - great fun.
The room was very inexpensive (to a Brit at the fantastic exchange rate) at about £40 and was in good condition in every respect.
They don't do food - but the "Casa Roma!" restaurant is a five minute walk away and did us a decent steak and prawns dinner...so you can leave the car at the Inn and enjoy a beer with supper.
If you need motel style accomodation to get a night's sleep whilst travelling in the area you could do a great deal worse than the Bluebird Inn. Recommended.

We stayed in the Bluebird Motel as we were looking for somewhere as a base to visit Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump (excellent site, well worth a visit). The motel room was clean and comfortable, with a large bathroom and small kitchenette. The beds were very welcome after our flight - and an excellent night's sleep was had by all. We'd certainly stay here again if in the area.
