Located on a calm shallow water swimming beach. Great for kids and adults. Trampoline and swings galore for the kids. Nice pool and always plenty of lounge chairs. Store with reasonable prices in the lobby. Many choices for food. Pizza oven, Coco Loco Bar & Grill right on the beach. Indoor and outdoor dining. Live music in the lobby bar each evening with 2 for 1 happy hour and a menu for food. Units are very spacious. The one bedroom we have is remodeled and has a beautiful view of the ocean and beach and a full kitchen & dishwasher. There are no washers and dryers. The staff aims to please and are all super friendly and polite. The housekeepers are efficient. I don’t notice any odor in the halls like the other reviewer stated. Most of the floors are marble and spotless. The beach is walkable in both directions. It takes us 2.5 hours round-trip. The Ultra Mar ferry to Isla Mujeres is about a 15 minute stroll. The sidewalks are very nice and you can walk forever. The bus stop is a 5 minute walk and goes downtown or to the party zone. You can buy drink and buffet tickets at a nice discount and is handy. They will hit you up to go to their timeshare promo upon check in. You check in then they want you to sit in the lobby and someone will bring you your keys and buy you a drink and hit you up to go to the promo. WE don’t play that game - just give me the key. That is nothing unusual for anyplace. Others say the place is dated but what place isn’t that is even a few years old. It is not a bad thing. It is very clean and comfortable and spacious and quiet. They play a few games around the pool but they don’t blast annoying music all day like a lot of places we have been. They put on a fabulous NY Eve party here.

So, I gave this place 5 stars not because of the physical hotel itself. The hotel is one of if not the oldest resort in Cancun and definitely needs some updating, which they are in the process of doing. Our room, which was a one bedroom apartment was outdated but was very clean and had everything we needed including ocean view. It’s not a very big resort but they are adding another pool and hot tub. The beach was great and we spent most of the time there instead of the pool. Need more ambiance, music throughout the resort and nightlife. They had vendors come in every evening with authentic Mexican souvenirs which was nice. What made this place was the staff and the food. Just Being honest. The staff went above and beyond with the service and hospitality. They worked so hard to make us happy. I love how attentive they were to us. Fernando, Alberto, Adalberto, Norberto, Brian to name a few and can’t remember everyone’s name but every single employee was amazing! The food: OH MY GOODNESS!! The food was so amazing and delicious! Unlike many resorts I’ve been to in Mexico and in other countries, Casa Maya’s food was authentic to its country. Breakfast lunch and dinner. They also had the norm like burgers and pasta but we definitely took advantage and ate Mexican cuisine every day. With this resort you have the option of doing all inclusive or pay per meal. We did all inclusive and it did not disappoint.
COVID: we felt safer here than the United States. Temperature checks, sanitizers every where, even your shoes had to be sanitized everywhere you go. Never did i see anyone without a mask, no one person, not even the guests.
The one thing i didn’t like was the timeshare thing. They are very pushy when it comes to that so be aware.

Don't believe any negative reviews you read online. We stayed and had a wonderful time. Tons of beach chairs on a wonderful beach to pick from. Wonderful outdoor pool, water park, breathtaking vista, decent breakfast and food all day long, and the UPGRADED room was updated with a good kitchen, great living area with a murphy bed, clean, modern, and functional. We do not know what the Westernmost tower was like. Perhaps thats the negative area. So dont stay there! The main building has all the amenities one could need from seating areas to a mini convenience store and a bar and a tourist office There is nighttime security, they are CONSTANTLY cleaning the grounds and when we checked out, Julio, Luis and Ana were very gracious, polite and professional and expeditious. If the resort has gone through an upgrade, all the other complaints are null and void. There is food and drink service on the beach, plenty of palapas, plenty of umbrellas, and it's only a 15 minute walk to the ferry to Isla Mujeres. You're away from the noise in the club strip, and there's actually no reason to ever leave the resort. It was extremely affordable, and we finally found a more efficient and quiet, family and couple friendly resort/hotel in the Cancun Hotel Zone. We are very seasoned travelers, and have been to Cancun and spent many many weeks and times here. All the other positive reviews encouraged us to take a shot here and we were not disappointed. We recall being told to find a room above the fourth floor above the palm tree line where the view of the ocean would be unimpeded. We would reinforce that suggestion. Thank you Casa Maya for salvaging a very long trip in the end. We will be back in the future.

We stay here every year. This year we stayed 3 weeks. I recommend a one bedroom to get a good room position in the resort with a good view, etc. Ask for a renovated room. The hotel is older and dated but don’t let that scare you - it is very well maintained. They are always doing maintenance. The windows are washed and the beach is swept with a machine. It’s great for kids to swim and float in the shallow water and there are many kids toys to climb on etc. Fernando does a great job with the food which includes buffets or menu and a wood fired pizza oven. The beach is walkable for exercise. Taxis and buses are in front and the sidewalks are awesome. There aren’t any real close by restaurants to walk to. The lobby store is reasonable and has a good variety and there is a gift shop too. You can purchase packets of 10 coupons to use for drinks which turns out to be less than 4.00 per drink and same with the buffets - you can purchase coupons to pay with and it is a savings and worth it. Also this is one of the few non all inclusive places. There are a couple other hotels on this stretch of beach but the beaches are not as well maintained as the Casa Maya.
It is a short walk to the ferry which goes to Isla Mujeras and worth a trip.

We had an amazing 5 day stay at Hotel Casa Maya. Some of the reviews we read prior to our visit were a little scary, but they are totally unwarranted. We arrived on a Thursday and didn't leave the resort one time until we had to on Monday. The restaurants and bars were all so good we didn't have to leave. The check in process was easy and painless, the service from every person on site was great. Our rooms were cleaned everyday, they even folded our pjs, brought us extra coffee everyday after we asked on the first day. The service on the beach was the absolute best, Esteban was AMAZING. He took care of us even when we weren't in his section. He even came to the front desk to tell us goodbye on the day we checked out. Fernando and Ramses also took very good care of us on the beach as well. We picked this hotel for the low price but will definitely return for the service and the beautiful beach, the sand felt so good between our toes.

I’ve stayed here for years and it cannot be beat. Great established helpful staff, most are bilingual. It is easy to ask questions, gets help or suggestions. Many other places I have tried have staff just filling a role.
Today is the last day of 3 weeks here. It’s more like an awesome condo with a kitchenette or full kitchen. All have large rooms, balconies and ocean views. The beach is one of the best, water is easily swimmable, calm and has a large beach area. There are activities for all ages if interested. The staff and prices for food/beverage service on the beach is very reasonable. I actually stayed last year a week at NYX and they didn’t have enough loungers so people set their alarms to claim chairs at 5 am. I complained to manager but the corporate office hadn’t responded. I’m saying this because here they figure it out so you have a nice vacation. That is so important to have a tranquil vacation.

We stayed here two years ago and my wife said she wouldn’t go back. The room was dingy and not well keep. I talked her in to trying it again because some of the rooms had been remodeled. I’m not sure if we got one of the freshened up ones or not . We had a 2 bedroom unit # 2308 in the same building as last time. The floors are a terracotta type which I like but these were so uneven we actually tripped on them many times while we were there. The second bedroom had a terrible smell to it, I have no idea what it was but it never went away.
This place probably has the worst lighting of anyplace we have ever stayed, especially in the kitchen.
If you are going on vacation with kids I highly recommend it, they even have a small water park.
If you’re going on vacation to relax and have some peace and quiet you should look elsewhere because this place is noisy from 10 am to 10pm . Our room was across the hall from the elevator , every time the elevator stopped you would hear ding-dong,through the walls and not just on our floor, no matter what floor it stopped on you would hear it on our floor.
The hotel staff was helpful and did their jobs very well when we needed something as a matter of fact they replaced a refrigerator within an hour of us calling.
If you only speak English you will be disappointed with the TV I think there were only 3 English channels and they were news channels.

This is a gem of a resort on one of the best strips of beach in all of Cancun. Don't let the age fool you. While it may not be the flashy compound of a resort further south in the hotel zone, this place has all that you really need for an authentic Mexican vacation. The staff is by far some of the friendliest, most attentive, and hardworking you will find on the island. Be nice to them and they return it in spades. The drinks are freshly made to order, delivered while you sit under a palapa enjoying the aqua waters. Do yourself a favor and order the guacamole too. It is enough to feed two and absolutely delicious. Walking distance to a few local restaurants, bus stop, and the embarcadero for a ferry over to Isla Mujeres. Rooms are older but clean and again, this stretch of beach cannot be beat. If you get bored, Juan will make sure you have something to do with his laundry list of daily activities. His smile and enthusiasm for fun make him one of the nicest humans I have ever met. Victoria (housekeeping) made sure our rooms were spotless everyday and we enjoyed meeting each of the beach runners too.

I enjoyed the beach location. There were no restaurants within walking distance. Food onsite was NOT tasty. Inflated taxi rides and every day someone solicited us for a timeshare, super annoying. There were strong winds one day and my margarita got knocked over inside the pool bar and I had to plead with two managers to replace it. Waiters were polite but the managers were difficult with the exception of Omar who was really nice. If I had more time I would have learned to take the bus to Walmart and bought some groceries to supplement the food available. The hotel was also close to the ferry for Isla de Mujeres, you can walk. I enjoyed the Captain Hook show nearby and the 2 hot tubs onsite. They had weird rules about beach towels and they stop selling liquor at 10pm. If the beach is what you seek at an affordable price and you want to do excursions within Cancun you should stay here. This is not an all-inclusive, it puts you in the mind of big chain clean American motel that nickels and dimes for everything.

There is a ticket office inside the lobby. You can stay at the park with or without a meal plan. There is no pressure from the ticket office on what you buy. The bus picks you up at the front of the hotel and drops you off there when done.
