New Lamborghini Temerario: Huracan replacement to use all-new V8 engine

The new Lamborghini Temerario is coming this summer to replace the Huracan, and the brand has confirmed that it’ll use a hybrid V8 engine with three electric motors.

The Lamborghini Huracan has bowed out after more than a decade in production, and its replacement is coming this summer. Codenamed the Lamborghini 634, it’s expected to be called the Temerario when it goes into production, and thenCarwow team has had a crack at predicting the design.
This new Ferrari 296 GTB alternative is going to use an all-new twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with the Revuelto’s tri-motor hybrid system, and it makes 800hp.
New Lamborghini Huracan replacement engine and power
Lamborghini has officially waved goodbye to the 5.2-litre V10 engine it’s been using for decades now, and it’ll be replaced with a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. Despite what you might think, this isn’t the same engine used in the Urus or the Audi RS Q8, it’s an all-new unit designed for this model.
It may be two cylinders down on the Huracan, but this new V8 engine pumps out 800hp. That’s 160hp more than any Huracan ever produced, and that’s before you add in the electrification. This car will use the same tri-motor hybrid system as the Lamborghini Revuelto flagship, so the final power figure is likely to be close to 900hp.
Like the Revuelto, this new model has an electric motor between the engine and the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox for added power, as well as one motor on each of the front wheels to make it all-wheel drive.
Now this wouldn’t be a Lamborghini engine if it didn’t come with a hair-raising soundtrack, and the brand has gone to great lengths to make sure this V8 delivers on this front. It revs to 10,000rpm, a figure usually reserved for racing engines, so it should provide plenty of aural thrills when you plant your right foot.

This replacement for the Lamborghini Huracan has been spotted out and about during development testing a few times now and, despite the heavy camouflage, you can see quite a lot of this new supercar’s design.
So much so the Carwow team has been able to take a stab at peeling that wrap off using some computer wizardry, giving you a first glimpse at what it may look like.
The Temerario is instantly recognisable as a Lamborghini thanks to the iconic wedge shape, and there’s been plenty of inspiration from the larger Revuelto. That said, the front end design is different from any Lambo we’ve seen before.
It might be covered in the usual array of creases and angles, but the super thin headlights are almost akin to the Ferrari SF90’s. Those massive hexagonal daytime running lights in the grille are pretty weird as well, looking almost like rally spot lamps.
The new car looks pretty similar to the Huracan from the side thanks to that aforementioned wedge shape, but the tall air intake behind the door, also seen in the camouflaged spy shots, looks more like the one found on the old Lamborghini Gallardo.
The rear end will be familiar to fans of the Revuelto, because it’s been heavily inspired by that car. That massive central exhaust is mounted in the same place as its larger sibling, just as you can see on the prototype. The thin brake lights and giant rear diffuser are similar to the Revuelto’s as well.

Adding a hybrid system to any car inevitably adds weight, and weight is the enemy of performance and handling. To offset this, the new Lamborghini Huracan replacement could go rear-wheel-drive only.
While this isn’t confirmed, it would offset the added mass of the hybrid battery, while also making sure it doesn’t step on the Revuelto’s toes. Lamborghini also seems to like rear-wheel-drive for its smaller supercars, just look at the Huracan Technica.
This was a sort of ‘greatest hits’ version combining all the best bits of the Huracan into one flashy send off, and it was rear-wheel-drive. Only time will tell if the replacement follows in this car’s footsteps though.
When will the new Lamborghini Huracan replacement go on sale?
The new Lamborghini Huracan replacement is due to make its debut in the summer this year, hot on the heels of the new Urus plug-in hybrid.
As for price, don’t expect any change out of a quarter of a million pounds. That would put it roughly in line with the Ferrari 296 GTB, and it’s almost half the price of a V12 Revuelto.
