This is the new Kia Picanto, and by new we mean heavily revised. This alternative to the Hyundai i10 has been given a new face, as well as some updated technology.
You can order your new Picanto now, and prices start from £15,595 making it one of the least expensive new cars you can buy.
New Kia Picanto price and specs
The new Kia Picanto is on sale now, with deliveries scheduled to start in July. With a starting price of £15,595.
Dinky city cars like this are getting few and far between thanks to the increasing cost of producing them. The Volkswagen Up, Peugeot 108, Suzuki Celerio and Renault Twingo have all bitten the dust in recent years, leaving just the Kia Picanto, Hyundai i10, Toyota Aygo X and the Fiat 500.
The little Kia undercuts the Hyundai i10 by around £500, and it’s a few hundred pounds cheaper than the Aygo X as well. The ageing Fiat 500 is a full £1,000 more expensive. It’s not the cheapest car you can buy though, with that award going to the more spacious Dacia Sandero at £13,795.
That said, the Picanto does come with an impressive amount of equipment as standard. Your £15,595 gets you:
- An 8.0-inch touchscreen
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Rear parking sensors
- Cruise control
- Lane-keeping assist
- Automatic wipers
- 14-inch alloy wheels
New Kia Picanto design
This is just a facelift for the Kia Picanto, but the front end has been heavily revised with inspiration taken from the EV9.
This is most evident up front, where you’ll find new vertical headlights with LED running lights flowing into some silver trim across the bonnet. The lower bumper has also been updated with new air vents.
There’s not much to report down the side apart from some new alloy wheel designs. You get 14-inch rims as standard, rising to 16 inches on range-topping GT Line S models.
Also unique for GT Line and GT Line S cars is the more aggressive styling, lending the Picanto a sporty appearance. The tail lights are also new for 2024, with a full-width light bar across the tailgate giving the car a more premium appearance.
New Kia Picanto interior and infotainment
The interior design of the new Kia Picanto is pretty much the same as the outgoing car’s, however you do get some more technology as standard.
All cars now get an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, something which was previously reserved for mid-spec cars and up. You also have a new digital instrument cluster as well.
New Kia Picanto engines
The current Kia Picanto’s 1.0-litre non-turbocharged engine will be carried over to this new car, and a new 1.2-litre engine will be offered as well. The smaller of the two units has 66hp, while power for the 1.2 hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Both engines will be available with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic, while safety features such as blind spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking are also available.
