A few years on from the Dacia Bigster concept reveal, a production version has been spotted out and about during development testing.

  • All-new Dacia Bigster spotted testing
  • Chunky design details
  • Range of petrol and hybrid engines expected
  • All-wheel drive version also likely
  • Interior could be shared with the Duster
  • Full reveal coming in 2025

This is the new Dacia Bigster, a large SUV which will sit above the Duster when it goes on sale next year.

It’s been a few years since the concept was first unveiled, but now a production version has finally been snapped by Carwow’s spy photographers during development testing.

New Dacia Bigster design

The Dacia Bigster concept was first revealed back in 2021, and the new Duster is heavily inspired by this design. A production version of the Bigster itself has now been caught out and about in Spain by Carwow’s spy photographers.

New Dacia Bigster prototype vs concept front

Even with the heavy camouflage you can see that it stays true to the concept. The front end looks very similar to the Duster’s, with an upright, rugged shape and slim LED headlights. The concept had some LED lights across the grille, although these are likely to just be trim pieces on the production car.

New Dacia Bigster side

The Bigster concept has an equally purposeful look down the side thanks to the chunky clack classing and boxy shape. The production car looks pretty much the same, although the flared wheel arches aren’t quite as pronounced.

New Dacia Bigster prototype vs concept

You can see the Y-shaped tail lights poking out of the wrap, just like the ones you’ll find on the Duster. The spoiler on the production version looks bigger than the concept’s as well.

New Dacia Bigster engines and performance

There’s no word yet on what will be powering the new Dacia Bigster, however it’s likely to share parts with other Renault models. This would suggest a range of petrol mild hybrid units, as well as a full hybrid.

There’s no word on whether the new Bigster will be offered with front or four-wheel drive, however this rugged styling suggests that an all-wheel drive model is likely. This is something which is available on the Duster, so Dacia has the technology to implement it here.

New Dacia Bigster interior

While there are no official images of. the Dacia Bigster’s cabin, you can expect it to take a decent amount of tech from the new Dacia Duster. This car has a much more modern-looking cabin than its predecessor.

Expect a similar interior design to the Duster (pictured here)

This means you’re probably going to get a 10.1-inch touchscreen, as well as a similar squared-off and chunky design befitting of an SUV such as this. A seven-seat version could also be on the cards to provide an alternative to the Skoda Kodiaq.

New Dacia Bigster: when will it go on sale?

New Dacia Bigster rear

The new Dacia Bigster is slated to go on sale in 2025, and it’ll sit above the Duster in the range. This means it’s likely to fetch a higher price than that car, with a figure of around £25,000 to be expected.
