Can businesses boost voter turnout? 🗳 📈 In 2024, 2 billion people will head to the polls worldwide. While the European Parliamentary Elections are approaching, citizen participation is low. 🇪🇺 We believe businesses and organizations can use their voice to engage audiences, clients, users, consumers, and employees to act beyond economic purpose and raise awareness to strengthen and protect our democracies. B Lab Europe, GOPA Com., Earth4All, and Civocracy 📢 have launched a nonpartisan campaign to unite businesses across Europe and increase 2024 election turnout. 150 companies from 15 EU countries have joined. 🌱 A better future for people and planet demands meaningful practices of leadership and collaboration. We believe cities are big levers for change. By 2030 about 60% of the world's population will live in cities. They are the places where global concerns such as climate change, poverty, housing, mobility, integration, and safety all converge and intensify. 🏙 This is why we created the RISE Cities Fellowship for more Resilient, Intelligent, Sustainable, and Equitable cities. The RISE Cities Fellowship brings together urban changemakers to facilitate mutual learning and support the development of local solutions. 📹 Meet the leaders who drive change and learn what motivated them to join our fellowship 👇 Watch the full video and find out more about the projects of the RISE Cities Fellowship 2023/24 👉 https://lnkd.in/eYvue6PK Alisa Jashari, Anki Mölläri, Asceline Groot, Christina Neddens, Christine Ballarin, Donica Buisman, Emmi Lundán, Gerrit Jan van 't Veen, Giorgia Serafini, Gyula Dr.Kerenyi, Katrin Witthaus, Kerem Halbrecht, Minna Säpyskä-Aalto, Morten Stamm Mikkelsen, Peter Weidig, Staas Lucassen, Tamas Locher, Thea Lyng Thomsen, Thorsten Mehnert, Anamaria (Ama) Vrabie, PhD, Paul Moldovan, Stephen Lorimer, Lauren Shevills, Ulrich Dilger, Simon Höher Chloe Pahud, Louise Vogel Kielgast, Raffaela Schmuck, Elisabeth Benz, Dr. Angelika Starbatty, Marie-Luise Nau #RISE #Cities #Fellowship #GlobalChallenges #LocalSolutions #MeetTheTandems #Fellows #Resilient #Intelligent #Sustainable #Equitable

Carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) is a powerful tool for offsetting hard-to-abate and legacy emissions, but it remains poorly understood and underused. Currently, CDR deployment falls short of the climate-relevant scale required to meet the 1.5°C climate target. It’s time to change that! More leaders and organizations have to commit to proactive CDR strategies. We’re here to help them turn intentions into action. Our new report, “From Awareness to Action: The Six Building Blocks for Purchasing Carbon Removal,” is a must-read for decision-makers and sustainability leads. It outlines the six steps to creating a successful CDR initiative, from stakeholder engagement to securing C-level buy-in. Discover how to implement a CDR strategy to meet net-zero commitments and become a sustainability leader in your sector. This report, a collaboration between the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, remove, and the Sustainability in Business Lab (sus.lab | ETH), features insights from insider interviews, the latest research, and practical guidance on CDR in a corporate context. 🌍Dive deeper! 👉 bit.ly/PurchasingCDR #climateaction #responsibleleadership #climateleadership #carbondioxideremoval #NetZero #CorporateResponsibility #EnvironmentalStewardship Julia Bläsius Maya Volwahsen Oliver Akeret Marian Krueger Hans Westerhof Rawan Gebran Gudrun Thorsdottir Aliénor von Roten

Future energy system: where do we go from here? 🤔 After our collaboration with Future Cleantech Architects at #MSC 2024, we were excited to attend their Festival this week in Remscheid, Germany. This event gathered about 150 experts, including researchers, think-tanks, policy stakeholders, and private sector representatives from industries, startups, and investors. Our colleague, Thomas Röhrl, participated in a panel on the best solutions for future energy systems, where they explored new innovative policy tools. Here are our key takeaways: 💡 Complementing Intermittent Energy: Clean and flexible energy sources are vital to support solar and wind energy, ensuring a resilient system without relying on gas turbines or polluting methods. ⚡ Grid Expansion: Critical for clean power generation but hindered by permitting bottlenecks. 🔋 Seasonal Storage Economics: Lasting change is only likely under financial pressures, such as high gas price shocks like in 2022. It was inspiring to engage with such a knowledgeable group dedicated to the future of clean energy. Let’s continue to innovate for a sustainable future. #Cleantech #RenewableEnergy #FutureEnergySystems #Innovation #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #GridExpansion #EnergyPolicy #ResponsibleLeadership Tobias Lechtenfeld Maria Leis Energy Resilience Leadership Group Breakthrough Energy Tech for Net Zero
