Last week was a big week as we co-organised a Berlin delegation with our friends and partners at Climate Tech Hub e.V. to London Tech Week. It was a week full of new connections, learnings and re-connecting with some of our UK partners. Read more about the companies and our activities below 👇 Sophie's personal highlight was Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan opening London Tech Week & our Berlin meets London Salon Evening 🎤 👋 Thanks to everyone who made this delegation possible: CIV:LAB, London & Partners, UCL School of Management, SHIFT , Sustainable Ventures & Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe
What an incredible week with our 🐻 Berlin Climate and Impact Delegation 💚 in London! 🏴 London’s ecosystem is a masterclass in urban innovation. We’re inspired by their collaborative climate and impact systems and are excited to infuse these learnings into Berlin. Organized by Climate Tech Hub e.V. and Urban Impact, alongside our truly outstanding delegation of individuals from Berlin organizations, we delved deep into the city, immersing ourselves in London Tech Week and several fringe events, exploring cutting-edge innovation hubs, and connecting with visionary minds all over London. James Byrne demonstrated at Sustainable Ventures how he established London's Climate Tech Hub, offering crucial support for startups. We learned about the evolution of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park into a dedicated campus for innovators, disruptors, and visionaries. Climate Tech Hub, Urban Impact, and CIV:LAB together hosted an electrifying Salon Evening #Berlin meets #London at UCL School of Management. We had the privilege of enjoying the stunning view while actively engaging with key partners and players in the innovation ecosystem, meeting new faces, and witnessing how bringing together the right people creates a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere. 🏆 We are incredibly proud to have brought the combined innovation power of the following Berlin organizations to London in a stellar delegation. Thank you to each and every one of you. It was a lot of fun and beneficial for all of us. We had a great Tuesday evening hosting our Salon Evening #Berlin meets #London during London Tech Week at UCL School of Management in one of London's most iconic locations - Level 50 of One Canada Square. It was wonderful to see so many amazing people from both impact ecosystems come together to exchange on ideas and projects in climate tech and sustainability. We were so happy to welcome some of our closest UK partners, meet new faces and see how bringing together the right people creates a vibrant and collective atmosphere! Thank you to CIV:LAB and Climate Tech Hub e.V. for co-organising this evening with us, UCL School of Management for hosting us and everyone for coming to our event during one of London's busiest weeks! We had the pleasure of hosting the Disrupting Mobility Salon in collaboration with Verein Berliner Kaufleute und Industrieller (VBKI) last week Wednesday, the evening before the #DisruptingMobilitySummit. This exclusive networking event brought together mobility experts and partners, creating a unique opportunity for international connections. We were particularly excited to feature some of Berlin's leading mobility innovators. It was inspiring to hear from the minds behind the MaaS App #Jelbi (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG)), Radbahn (paper planes e.V.), and ONOMOTION (ONO) as they shared their visions for a sustainable future in mobility for Berlin. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who traveled—near and far—to join us for this memorable evening! Pictures: Bela Lehrnickel

Urban Impact hat dies direkt geteilt
💥 It’s a wrap! So excited to have had the opportunity to co-host the Disrupting Mobility Salon and Summit over the past two days bringing together over 200+ mobility luminaries and researchers from Europe & US in Berlin! Together with our wonderful partners Verein Berliner Kaufleute und Industrieller (VBKI) Kearney Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and Siemens Mobility and many academic partners, we took stock of mobility trends 10 years on after the first conference of this series in 2015 at MIT Media Lab. 💫 My personal highlights: 1️⃣ Debating tipping points for future mobility disruption on the big stage with Dr. Sigrid Evelyn Nikutta (Deutsche Bahn), Anthony Townsend (Cornell Tech), Konrad Otto-Zimmermann and Kent Larson (MIT Media Lab) 2️⃣ Hosting an intimate Salon evening on the eve of the conference with all speakers and connecting them with Berlin’s local ecosystem of mobility movers & shakers including made possible by our partnership with the city of Berlin and our #BerlinFutureHub project. Thanks Jens (Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe) & Rainer (Senatskanzlei Berlin) for being such an open (inter)face for the city! 3️⃣ Building bridges with other #urbaninnovation ecosystems: Warsaw, Barcelona, Munich, Copenhagen, London, NYC, Boston. 4️⃣ Listening to Mitchell Joachim's (Terreform ONE) "gangster rap" of future urban mobility bringing it all home! I hope this epic performance has been recorded somewhere! 5️⃣ 😍 Lastly a bit of nostalgia: celebrating this “mini reunion” with Philipp Rode (my former boss from 12 years ago 😉), Ute Weiland and Florian Lennert, in which we cold bring back to life a small part of the former #UrbanAge community and spirit. The Urban Age conference series by LSE Cities pioneered discussions around the future of megacities and if it weren't for it, there wouldn’t be an Urban Impact today! 🙏 As always, huge shoutout to our fantastic team at Urban Impact: Sophie, Lucas, Pascal, Dominik and Friedrich - every day is a privilege to work alongside you! And thanks Marina for pitching in and helping us out at the Salon as well as Friends of Friends and Orangerie Berlin GmbH for making it again an inspiring experience location and food-wise. Lastly also thanks to Martina and Anica for the wonderful organisation of everything and Helmut and the team at Kearney for making the whole summit possible. #futuremobility2024 #BerlinFutureHub #WirUnternehmenBerlin #smartcityberlin 📸 credits: Bela Lehrnickel, Bernd Brundert and own!

There is a cool new testbed in town! This Thursday (April 25) Radbahn Berlin is opening its 200 meter-long test track, and inviting anyone who loves cycling, nature, or enjoying public spaces to come and celebrate. It takes a village to bring a project like this to life—we are happy to have played a role in its success by creating a transformative coalition that brought together the right funding strategy and political buy-in. This is one of the many initiatives that are putting Berlin on the map and making the German capital a beacon for impact projects. #berlinfuturehub 🗓️ More info on comments
