I am recommending coming over this place.
We just hung around and promise ourself coming back the next day.
It's seem like a good mixture of locals and turists.
Just have a coffee / beer / ice cream / small or big meal.
Just come
This is a neat local marketplace with permanent covered booths as well as storefronts, restaurants, and a beergarden. I wish I'd brought a cooler bag to buy things for dinner. There is the cutest garden store nearby. Locals and tourists are there alike. My teens surprisingly didn't think much of it, but my husband and I loved it.
We had a short layover trip to Munich with teenage girls. They were not thrilled by the market, but I would have loved to spend a lot of time there. Everything looked great. I especially loved all of the plants. I know there were extra because it was Christmas time and they were for decorations, but I got the impression that they're there all the time. Can't bring those home, though. I'm pretty sure customs frowns on importing plants. Next time maybe there won't be impatient teenagers.
If you like to experience local food and drink this is the best place to go. There are small and big stalls that offer variety food and drinks. There are some fruit shop, butcher and flower shop
Try to come early in the morning to avoid the crowd that swarming the place. Especially around the beer garden.
After a day strolling in the Alt Stadt, make sure you include a stop here. Small fresh product market, handmade art and food. Very good local foods and beers to indulge and end a part of your experience. How amazing the locals can find time to rest and enjoy this festive place. Amazed every time I visit.
