Why do we keep visiting the V Heavens? Because this resort has it all! The V Heavens is a great resort for the value, and if you like small, adults only environments, relatively low key, then this is for you. February 2022 was our 7th visit to the resort; it’s like visiting your second family.

Entertainment: The V Heavens has an outstanding entertainment team, and every day will start with them walking the pool and beach areas with a friendly good morning to you. The team is under the direction of Chihuahua, led by Daddy Cool, with Pocohontas, Tiana, Baby, Chocolate, Winnie the Pooh, and Floki. They will go out of their way to make sure you have a great day - every day. Keep in mind that these entertainers work about 18 hours a day for you and always have a smile on their face, despite the early mornings and late nights they put in. Don’t miss the shows in the theatre, especially the ‘80s Retro Show that is top-notch, packed with energy. Pocohontas lip sync of Whitney Houston “I Will Always Love You”, Daddy Cool performing “Daddy Cool”, along with Chihuahua in his performance of “Purple Rain” are outstanding.

Food: There are 4 ala carte restaurants, (Mexican, Fusion, Italian, authentic Dominican) plus a buffet, and none of the restaurants require a reservation, nor are they restrictive in how many times you can go to them during your stay. During the day the Italian is also the beach bar restaurant with nachos, burgers, fries, pizza, as well as some salad offerings. The food here is the best we have had at any resort, and I must mention the food/beverage managers, Cruz and Marino, who are always on site, ensuring everything runs smooth.

The 4 managers at the ala carte restaurants are outstanding! Nelson (The Blend), Bernaldo (Sofrito), Francisco (Rosmarino), Juan Alberto (Pueblo 222) - your teams all deserve a big thank you for fabulous food and service.

Bars: The bartenders at the V Heavens are great. Omar has been a fixture since we have been going to the resort – daytime at the pool bar - and you will know him by his unique whistle you hear throughout the day. Oscabelly, Janet, Mary Janet, Frandy, Joel, Aurelio – thank you for your attentive service and a never empty coffee cup or glass of wine!

Miscellaneous: Our room was cleaned daily, no complaints. Fridge restocked and always fresh towels. No issues with our room, air conditioning or temperature of water/shower, etc. The buildings are kept meticulously clean in the hallways as well. This resort is clean, clean, clean!

I will briefly mention Covid protocols being followed – even after the DR dropped all restrictions, the resort continued with mask wearing, hand sanitizing, and room number collection for contact tracing if needed. Many guests really appreciated that!

Extra: While on vacation, we renewed our wedding vows at the beach on Valentine’s Day. The staff went out of their way for us, and I am still in shock and awe of the wonderful memories that were created that day with our Dominican Family. Anabelia from Guest Services, and Chihuahua, were instrumental in organizing the day from beginning to end to make this happen. Chihuahua was also the officiant, while the entire entertainment team stood with us, all dressed up to make this a perfect day, during a perfect vacation. We are already booked to return in April and November.

We stayed at the V Heavens for 2 weeks over Valentine's Day in Feb 2022. This was our 7th visit to the resort. While the resort has a great location, great beach, great food, and great rooms, it is the staff at the resort that makes this a special place to stay.

The fact that this is a relatively small, adults only resort, is a big plus for us as well. We also love the fact that you can go to the a la carte restaurants as many times as you want, whatever time you want, with no reservations. There is rarely a lineup or wait to get in and there are 2-4 a la cartes open every evening, along with the buffet. No sitting around waiting for your reservation time, or planning your day around a reservation time.

You get to know many of the other guests and feel like part of a large family. Eight other people (4 couples) that we had met during previous trips at the V Heavens planned to came to the resort over the same time, so we had a group to hang out with. A few guests that we had not met before became part of our group as well - that is the kind of resort this is.

The entertainment team, which was always great, just keeps getting better. They all work very hard and long hours to keep guests happy and entertained. The manager of the entertainment team, Chihuahua goes above and beyond to meet the needs of guests. A number of guests asked Chihuahua if the resort planned on broadcasting the Super Bowl on site. Chihuahua advised that there was no plans, but he would see what he could do. The day before, Chihuahua had someone installing a satellite dish on building 4 and running a cable, and the morning of Super Bowl he was working with techs to try to set up a screen and get the necessary connectors. By game time the big screen was up and running (see pics) and many of the guests watched the game and were very appreciative that Chihuahua made it happen.

I am hesitant to mention the names of all of the exceptional employees for fear that I will forget someone, but here goes: Omar the lead bartender at the Pool Bar during the day is the best bartender I have met at any resort. Joel does an excellent job of looking after the evening shift at the Pool Bar, and Gabriel, a new addition at the Beach Bar, is very good to deal with as well.

Cruz and Marino, who I believe are the Food and Beverage Managers, are constantly walking through the resort and restaurants to ensure that standards are maintained and any guest issues are addressed. They asked me a number of times if everything was okay and how I was doing, and I responded "feliz". (happy)

Food quality was excellent - I saw staff taking taking the temperature of food at the buffets on several occasions to ensure that health standards are maintained.

We went to more of the evening shows on this trip and were not disappointed. While most of the shows are put on by the resort entertainment team, and very good, there were some shows that utilized performers from outside the resort as well.

We had several conversations with Daddy Cool, the lead of the entertainment team. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met. We first met Floki at the resort in Nov 2021, shortly after he started. He speaks 4 languages fluently and is great to talk to. I had a great sail with Floki on one of the catamarans on a very windy day. Pocahontas, Baby, Winnie, and Chocolate were all part of the entertainment team and all were great to deal with and helped keep us entertained.

We renewed our wedding vows on the beach on Valentine's Day which was a surreal experience, and one that I would highly recommend. Chihuahua and his team went over the top to make this a very special day for us, and we will cherish the incredible pictures and memories from the day.

This resort is one of approximately 18 in the Playa Dorado complex - a secure area which includes a golf course and tourist mall. The mall is less than a 5 min walk away and that is where we went for our PCR test. Canadians now require a Rapid Test and you can get one at the clinic at the mall for $20 US. If you run short of cash there is a Bank of Nova Scotia bank machine at the mall where you can safely withdraw up to approx $200 US per day in Dominican pesos.

We have travelled to many resorts in the Caribbean, including some in Punta Cana, and across Cuba, and the Viva Wyndham V Heavens best meets our needs and has become our happy place away from home. We are booked to be back at the V Heavens in April 2022, and back with our group in November 2022, and cannot wait to be with our Dominican, and resort, friends again.
