We were a group of three couples that visited Cofresi for 12 days Jan 26-Feb7 We traveled to Puerto Plata with Air Transat from Toronto. Our flight went smoothly with Air Transat there and back. Check in at the hotel was easy and our rooms were assigned efficiently. We booked the standard rooms and were located in building 310. We liked the location a s it was just back of the lobby and an easy walking point to start from each day. The rooms were spacious with a large full bathroom,king bed,dresser with mini fridge and a coffee station. There was also a large closet with another set of drawers and shelves for shoes and space to store a suite case. The safe was also in there.We purchased a lock for it for a cost of $3 per day, Our package included 3 a la cartes per week which we were able to arrange our first morning there. We went to the Dominican Italian Mexican seafood and asian restaurants and enjoyed all of them. The service at this property was outstanding from wait staff bartenders house keeping and entertainment. The Sunday welcome party is like nothing we have seen before with endless food drinks entertainment and fireworks. A must see.Also Air Transat has a bbq night for its guests that we enjoyed twice! The number of pools and space with lounge chairs for everyone goes on forever. There are many areas to spread out in throughout the property. We were not VIP but did not feel this to be a problem for us since the buffets restaurants and bars provided us with all we needed-great food and drink.. My only negative about this resort is that there was no wifi free anywhere for us. It was only available at a cost if you were not VIP and it was costly! The girls in our group visited the spa and got a good deal from Alex. We had a lovely visit with massages and a hot tub soak. After that we lounged by their pool with a fresh fruit smoothie.I highly recommend the spa. what a great couple of hours in peace and tranquility.Thanks Marissa the massage.It was heavenly. My friends have travelled with my husband and I for about thirteen years and were a little worried about our choice of Cofresi Palm with the reviews on trip advisor. We are however happy to report that we had another great vacation south at this resort.thanks to all the wonderful staff that made it a wonderful visit.

Resort is segregated to provide regular clients and VIP clients with a different experience. The up sell to VIP accessed areas is offered however not apparent at time of booking. Service and access to areas differs and this is a down side. While this location provides a beautiful location, the staff will treat you differently if you have not upgraded and the website is deceptive about what regular vacation goers have available to them.

This resort is huge and definitely not for the mobility impaired. Everything is very very clean, I have never seen such clean bathrooms by the beach. I had the regular basic package and I never felt a need to upgrade. Check in was the fastest I have ever experienced. Be forewarned they make you sign documents agreeing to pay for lost bracelets, towels, room cards etc so be reasonable and look after your stuff. I had a room in 310, the room was clean, in good condition and well stocked with water and toilet paper every day. No, I did not get clean towels or sheets every day but why would I? Come on, who changes their towels and sheets every day? I had a ground floor room and as a lone woman travelling with friends I was very happy to see a good solid lock on my patio door. Speaking of locks, some advice regarding the safe locking mechanism, bring Vaseline or something or be prepared for some difficulty there. We had three A la carte reservations wich we were able to obtain very quickly at the customer service desk in the lobby. We tried both the Pearl and Casablanca buffets which had a wide variety and excellent service. The beach beds at the Cofresi beach were very comfy and there always seemed to be plenty of beach chairs to go around. There are several points that you can go to get your beach towels changed and they never ran out. I was never bothered by anyone trying to sell timeshare options, not once. I've travelled to the Caribbean a few times now but this is the first time I was sick, vomiting quite violently for most of the night after having eaten at one of the A la carte restaurant's. Not sure what happened there, it can't be due to alcohol as I only had one glass of wine. If I had one thing to mention for improvement it would be to note all the returned items (ie bracelet, key card, towels etc) during checkout. I have to say the service here was excellent; maids, wait people, shuttle bus drivers, bell hops, bartenders etc Muchos gracias amigos. And yes, even if you're not a VIP.

We went towards the end of COVID so not everything was open but we loved it so much we are going back in 2 months! It is huge so do your research people the nay sayers that complain about the size or walking that's on you for not looking into the details We had hot water...the food was amazing but we are just happy it's not Cuban food lol Pools are great people are great treat them with respect and you'd be amazed! Voice your room concerns they will accomodate you And people please Don't give a bad review because your room wasn't ready at 10am when you arrived It's like any hotel 3pm...if it's sooner tip them! A little goes a long way Or go to a sandals We love cofresi!

This is so far my worst experience. I have booked long time a 7 night all inclusive 2adults and 2 children for a stay 25th dec- January 1st, even if the reviews seems okay and mostly negatives towards the rooms, foods and lack of internet but we pulled the trigger as we are not that picky. We arrived 25th at 15:00 first impression the hotel looks shady and quiet calm for this period, once i announced my name to the receptionist there first reply: you need to pay for the December 31st gala diner!!! I was unsure if she was talking to me but she repeated that: i must pay 80 $usd per adult and 40$ per child before checking, I thought it was a mistake i showed to her the confirmation email and there was no absolute indication for the 31st and to be fair only the December 24th was indicated. She saw the email agreed but repeated that I have to pay. Knowing that I m wasting my time I asked for a manager. 20 minuted later a lady showed up and repeated the same sentences: I have to pay. At this moment i noticed that my kids were half sleeping on the reception floor, I decided to contact travel agency on my expense. The ladies was shocked on the phone she tried to contact directly the hotel and she was informed: pay or no checking. On the same time tried online to simulate multiple booking, not a single indication for the 80$ for the 31december extra even on there own website. After 2hours on the phone decision was made to cancel the booking and get rebooked on a new hotel During all the waiting period almost 3 hours not a single cup of water was presented to me or the kids, personnel were antipathetic on first level. Cofresi palm beach resort and spa.spa.0 If you pay for updates in rooms, you are not guaranteed to get it, and they just refuse to do anything to rectify problems
Food was okay, we ate mostly omelets and pasta everyday
No free wifi. Can buy for $25 for 25 hours Or $60 unlimited for one device We got a sim card from a worker in the gift shop, not from shop itself. He pulled it out of his wallet. Sketchy but worked great. $40 for 5 days. $5 for additional days
No room service available.
Beach very small.
No entertainment at most pools.
Alot of stairs and giant hills to climb, shuttles not frequently available. Sometimes we were just told "no" from shuttle drivers.
Not good variety of alcohol. Wouldn't make blended drinks that they didn't have pre made. Literally just said "no" and pointed to the list of 10 drinks they reccomend.
Only fill mini fridge in room upon arrival, no other days of your stay.
We were covered and swollen from bites but not sure where they came from

We had to call down a few times after maid was in our room, for towels or toilet paper that were not restocked

We had a wonderful stay at Cofresi Palm. The resort was very clean and had a great selection of food and pools! Staff was super friendly and helpful (when they could understand English). Check in took longer than I would like however they served cold refreshments and did their best to get people through. They did give us the wrong room, 1 bed not 2, but rectified it VERY quickly and were super helpful in doing so. We did ask to be moved to a room near or in the same villa as our co-travellers but were told they were “at capacity” and it wasn’t possible, not true. However this has happened at other resorts so not super surprised. Room was nothing crazy special, however it had comfy beds and pillows, a nice balcony with a gorgeous view and a nice cold AC, so really what more do we need! Lots of pools to choose from, both on Cofresi and attached Tropical resort, as well as places to eat. Pools were well kept, cleaned regularly and warm. Lots of places to eat, including a yummy “fast food” place by the beach that we ate lunch at daily. Buffets were stocked with amazing amounts of yummy food, we never walked away hungry for any meal. Bar staff was always fun, attentive, served yummy drinks and super happy to chat and laugh. The activity staff was great. My kids loved Gato, he was super personable and a lot of fun. Beach wasn’t the best I’ve ever seen, however it was still beautiful. Warm water, lots of places to sit and a few little shops along they way! We loved exploring and purchasing a few little gems. There are the usual people who ask about braiding your hair or banana boat rides, if you just say no, they move on, no big deal. This is usual in these countries as it’s their source of income. We met some wonderful people from the other resort attached where people buy into a time share type residence. There were lots of great “regulars”. They were super wonderful to us and our children. Most of the shows were entertaining, the big welcome party was great!! I do wish they started a bit earlier, 9:30 is pretty late with kids and we missed a few for that reason. Let’s be honest 9:30 is late when your out and busy all day even for an adult! This resort is built in the side of a big hill/mountain, for this reason there are tons of stairs/walking. It was never too much, however I wouldn’t want to go if I had mobility issues. It def made the views beautiful!!

This location is amazing. From the start we where greeted by the security and he offered a parking spot if we where allowed earlier check in which we did thankfully. The staff at the reception was amazingly helpful the also tried to upgrade our room for no fee because first time visit and also we where celebrating our honeymoon. Our room had some cracks in the bathroom roof but nothing disturbing may have been the result of a concrete construction. Our room was very spacious and the bed was really comforting. The mini bar had two(2) sodas and a few bottles of water plus a big one to make coffee “yes there was a coffee maker” everything was stoked every morning or afternoon with room cleaning. If you hang the [DO NOT DISTURB] sign they will hand everything on your door. Restaurants are really great and people the staff is constantly asking if we need something else such as a drink or more water. Also all restaurants are open on different days and require reservations that could be accomplished at the lobby of choice “wish I knew that before” that way you can check out which restaurants are open and make a reservation early in the morning for the time they have available. I’m my conclusion my wife and I are coming back some time the following year. Really happy with the experience and the staff. Thanks you for a great vacation.

Keep in mind this is a very large property so it requires a lot of transportation options to keep guests and employees moving. The shuttles run regularly so even if you have limited mobility you should be able to get anywhere you want in no more than 20 minutes. However this produces a lot of noise if your room is near some of the roadways. Not to panic, the noise dies down after midnight (guests are back in their rooms and employees are home) but starts again around seven as employees return. Biggest plus was the unexpected thank you party they throw for guests on Sunday nights. An open air banquet with 2 or 3 hundred tables formally set (table cloths and draped chairs), for about 1,000 people. The buffet was generous and laid out to easily accommodate everyone with few line ups or delays. The party included, live, entertainment, fireworks and dancing and was open to everyone.

We had a group of 17 that travelled in February. While the resort is aging in areas the pics on here I expect are from the upgraded buildings by the ocean. Our waiter was probably the best we have ever experienced Roberto Mendina and his team welcomed us each night in the buffet with table all set and our drinks in hand. We celebrated a birthday in the group and Roberto took care to make it special. Resort wasn’t very crowded at the beginning of our stay so no silliness of getting up at 6:30 to reserve chairs. We did notice it starting to happen on the last couple of days. All in all a good resort and value for the cost.

"They also try to sell you timeshare here as well so do not buy because I make those contracts in America and they are basically trying to hold you hostage in the contract."
