My partner and I had a lovely stay at the Senator. The hotel is clean and beautiful. Also, before I start, please make sure to always tip the workers. We've seen so many people not tipping and it's just rude!! Here's some pros/cons :

Pros:
-The reception staff is extremely welcoming. A few employees have difficulties speaking english/french, but the majority are fluent!!
-I was really impressed with how clean the hotel was. They sweep and mop the floors, trim the lawn, clean the pool, and remove branches and leaves every single day!
-The air conditioning works very well, at least in our room, and I haven't heard any complaints from others. The bed is incredibly comfortable and cozy. Surprisingly, the cleaning staff arrived around 10 am, which I found to be pleasantly early! I loved it though
-We traveled during the last week of August, so it was relatively quiet, as it was considered the off-season.
-The entertainment team is so friendly; they host daily games around the pool/on the beach, and their smiles are contagious.
-The food was amazing. I'm picky when it comes to food, and I enjoyed everything. I highly recommend making a reservation at the Steakhouse; the food there is yummy and the service is 10/10
-There's a small street with a few gift shops, a coffee shop, a pizza parlor, an ice cream store, and a VR room. I particularly loved the pizza and coffee shops, both of which were included in the package!

Cons:
-The ride from the airport takes about 45 minutes to an hour. If you're prone to car sickness like me, make sure to bring Gravol!!
-Even though most of the staff were really friendly, there were a few who weren't very nice unless we tipped them. It seemed like many of them weren't having a good time :(
-The beach isn't the greatest. We did come a week after Hurricane Franklin, so that might be the reason, but if you're looking for crystal clear blue water and white sand, this isn't the spot for you! It's still really pretty, especially the view of the mountain from the beach.
-If you're someone who's super particular about cleanliness, you might want to skip this one. Our bathtub was far from clean. I wasn't really planning on taking a bath, so I didn't let it bother me, but I have to say, room 1011 could definitely use a thorough scrubbing in the tub department! The shower had good water pressure, and the hot water worked like a charm! :)
-There's no AC anywhere except in the rooms. It's consistently quite humid outside, and my partner is a big gym rat. The gym has a stunning view of the sea, but unfortunately, there's no air conditioning! I've seen some people putting in a good workout there, but we weren't able to join in on the action, haha!
-The service can be a bit slow, especially at the indoor buffet. There are times when you have to request things like a fork/knife or salt and pepper
-The Wi-Fi is great in the rooms and some parts of the resort, but it took us a few hours to get connected. It's a free hotel Wi-Fi with no password, and once you're connected, it works really well. However, you should be prepared for the Wi-Fi to disconnect and reconnect frequently depending on where you are in the resort.
-It's a good idea to bring your own sunscreen, oil, and after-sun lotion. They do have two shops that sell these items, but they are quite pricey at around $51 USD.

All of my "cons" are just suggestions for improvement. None of these things personally bothered us. I wouldn't rate it as a 5-star experience (unless you book the newest rooms in the leisure club), but it's certainly a strong 4.5 stars. There's Playa Bachata next to the resort, which is a sister hotel to Senator. It's definitely more budget-friendly, but based on what I've heard here, you get better quality at the Senator. We had a fantastic time at the Senator, and we'd absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone. We're already looking forward to returning in the future!
