Positive: it's 3 minutes off the Ramblas de Catalunya and under 10 minutes from Placa de Catalunya. Given that location it's not very expensive.
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. I found the overall atmosphere pleasant and safe.
Neither good or bad:
I had room 117 which is a single room with an external bathroom down the hall. Bathroom is private and neat, but not attached to the room. Breakfast is sweet pre-packaged cakes and tea/coffee from the machine next to the room.
Negative:
That particular room smells like it's been the territory of heavy smokers for decades and it has no daylight.
My advice: if you need a hotel close to Ramblas/Pl.Catalunya this is an excellent option. The rest of the hotel gave me a much better impression than the room I had. If you're in this single room with exterior bathroom limit your stay to 1 night.

Luckily, I only stayed for one night, but that one night was the worst of my 8 day stay in Spain. Read other reviews carefully, I did before I left and they are right,

The location of the hotel is very sketchy. It's on a very busy street night and day. The noise is awful, there is construction happening across the street, and people are out very late, and it is very loud. As other reviews stated, the walls are paper thin. They are spot on. You can not only hear toilets and showers, but full on conversations. I woke up numerous times during the night to clearly here people talking in the hallway, closes doors, and talking in their room.

Also, be prepared to drag your luggage up multiple levels of stairs. They have a very small service elevator. I honestly wouldn't get in the thing, it looked very unstable. You have no other choice then to carry your luggage up stairs, and the first floor of rooms is 3 floors up. You have a long way up, especially when dragging luggage.

The room was clean, but that was the only thing is had going for it. We had a 2 bed room, and it was very small. There was an AC unit above the door, but it didn't work, and none of the staff spoke English, and they couldn't get it either. The window was broken, and looked out to other apartments.

Even for the cheap price, I would never stay here again. It is central, but "too central". Sketchy street, very busy, loud- I knew I wouldn't be a bit surprised to come back and have something stolen from the room. Honestly, if you like taking chances and being in the action, more power to you. But for me, even spending just a few hours there, I'd never stay agin.

Barcelona is an interesting place to visit, with much history, but also very touristy. Prices are hyped up due to this, but with enough searching good deals can be found. Hotel Aneto is in a good location just off of Las Ramblas and within walking distance of pretty much everything.

i have just returned from a 4 night stay at the hotel aneto...i must say for a 1 star hotel it was exceptionally good standard..the only problem i would have is that the hotel is very noisy could hear every1 clearly going in and out of their rooms as doors were like paper..rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels and bedlinen...down fall was there was no hairdryers in the rooms this was annoying they had just 1 at the reception..also there wasnt iron in any part of the hotel...the location of the hotel couldnt have been any more central to everything in barcelona...so yes i would deff recommend this hotel but ladies bring your hairdriers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great location. Clean with great staff who assisted in local travel. Little noisy during the mornings due to the thinness of the walls. You can ride a very small elevator to your room but easy to walk up a flight. The room keys is given to reception every time you leave which was a little different from most places.

I am currently staying here at Hotel Aneto while travelling around the east coast of Spain for my summer holiday. I am a solo traveller, 25 years old.

If you are a solo traveller or perhaps a couple looking for somewhere basic to stay whilst in Barcelona then I recommend this hotel.

Location - Hotel Aneto is set within the Gothic Quarter and very close to La Rambla one of the main strips. It is, in my opinion very central to most of the places you may want to visit. I give Hotel Aneto 5 stars for location.

The Hotel - It is a basic hotel with everything you pretty much need. The reception is manned 24 hours and the staff are very helpful, kind and polite. My room was not quite ready when I arrived (i was early) but the kind man let me leave my suitcase there safely whilst i went for a wonder. At night they do lock the front door. But reception is just there so they see you and let you in, so the hotel is safe and secure. There is a lift to the second floor where the hotel rooms are. And there are stairs. The corridor for the rooms is very nicely decorated and feels contemporary despite the fact it is a budget hotel/ hostel. This is a nice touch. I cannot comment more on how clean the hotel is. Hotel Aneto do very well to keep everything clean and tidy and I really appreciate this.
Personally this does not bother me, however the corridor and the walls are quite thin so you can hear everything going on, especially is nearby rooms. You may be woken by people coming and going. This doesn't bother me much but it may for some others. I give the hotel 3 stars.

The room - I had a single room with an external private bathroom. This was perfect for me. My room has a TV, comfortable single bed, a very large wardrobe with lots of drawers and coat hangers. Very good air conditioning system with control remote. Kettle with tea, coffee etc. The hotel staff do come into the room daily to clean, make the bed and top up the drinks. The room does have everything you would need as a solo traveller and more! The only downside, which I am very sad to say knocks a mark down is that there is not safe in the room. The other tiny comment I would make is that the electric socket is in a panel along with the light switches directly above your head/pillow above the bed. Slightly awkward positioning and if you knock the plug you often switch the light on too. Can be a shock at 2am. For these reasons and the good, I give the room 3 stars.

Bathroom - the external bathroom again has everything you would need, and once again is exceptionally clean. There is a bath, sink, toilet, foot wash basin and a shower over the bath. The shower is powerful and is very good. Plenty of hot water. Again - very clean! There is a hair dryer provided as well as toiletries. I cannot fault the bathroom so must give 5 stars.

I did not select the breakfast option so cannot comment here but they do offer breakfast at the bar next door from 6am.

Overall I am giving hotel aneto 4 stars! They run a very good operation, fantastic value for money. Clean, comfortable stay.

I recommend Hotel Aneto perhaps for more the traveller types, couples and solo people. Not sure what experience a family would have but at least it would be clean and comfortable.

I don't understand why people put down low mark for this hotel. This hotel is classed as 1 star and is cheap (compared to Barcelona hotels in area) so you get what you pay for.
Yes it's small, basic but it's got a great location, full of bars and restaurants near by. It was very clean and rooms got cleaned everyday. When we opened our window it was just looking out to a wall. But like I said u don't go to a 1 star hotel and pay that price and get staying right in the centre if u think your getting luxury.
It did what it said on the tin. And the reception staff where helpful and friendly, most of the time.... there was one guy who looked like we were interrupting him if we dared speak... but all in all pleasant.

I just left the place. I mean exactly 41 minutes ago. What can I say? Very welcomming staff, always attendive; always willing to help.
A bit disturbed by the others noise due to the thin walls and the AC was there only as decoration, but I didn't mind, considering it is February.
CLEAN!! CLEAN!! VERY CLEAN!! Some guys were painting some rooms few days ago.
I'm definetly looking forward to come back!!
Thank you, Reception team for being so cool. Keep rollin'!! :D

My friends and I stayed in this hotel for a long weekend. It cost £317.00 for three for 4 nights.
The hotel is just off La Rambla and is easy to find. The room was
fantastic (102). Beds were so comfortable and the sheets and towels were changed daily. Shower was hot with a good jet of water. Wifi was free.
You are given a breakfast voucher for next door but we skipped it after day one as the staff were rather surly.
Would definitely visit again

Small hotel with perfect location for reasonable price.
Rooms are small and so is the private bathroom but it is very clean.
You even get a boiler for your morning coffee..
Close to any commodity and the Rambla just 100m away...
