Sleep in a NOISY closet

Review of Hotel Aneto
Reviewed Jan 14, 2017
I would avoid this property at all cost. It was an EXTREMELY noisy hotel, we stayed for 3 nights and were kept up until 3 am every night. We asked the front desk to assist us, no solution was offered. The room is the size of a closet & the bathroom was private, but down the hallway (seriously!), not very convenient in the middle of the night.

I walked to this hotel after taking the express bus from the airport to Placa de Catalunya, maybe a 10 minute walk. Check in was quick and friendly with a 24 hour front desk.

My single room was clean and quiet for sleeping. There was a television, large closet, kettle with coffee and tea, desk and chair. I had a private bathroom located across the hall. I was given a separate key to use for the bathroom. The bathroom was quite large and very clean. Water pressure in the shower/tub combo was very good.

Free Wifi was excellent.

This hotel was very clean and the staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Since you are just off La Rambla, there are many restaurants and markets. I would stay here again.

The avenue where the hotel is placed is very near to the mean avenue of Barcellona, so, the location is perfect to make a trip.
It's very cleanliness, and the workers are very available and courteous.
I suggest this hotel.

Our room was tiny. The bathroom was only 1.8m by 80cm. Could barely move in it and couldn't even sit on the toilet straight as barely a hands' width from the wall. Had to step over toilet to get in and out of shower. I am a reasonably small female and my brother or husband (both over 6ft tall) would never have have been able to fit in this bathroom. They did however have tea and coffee facilities, an air con, and a TV. Breakfast was next door in a little bakery which would have been fine except the ladies working there are quite unpleasant. They didn't speak very much English and barked at us in Spanish and appeared annoyed when we didn't understand and just repeated themselves even louder. Breakfast was also very small - choice between tea or coffee, and 2 pieces or toast with jam or 2 croissants with no jam (had to pay extra for jam with croissants). On our checkout day I became unwell and needed a later checkout, all that was offered to us was an extra half hour which was not enough. Overall our experience was average.

Stayed for 3 nights on the way back from previous locations down the coast to fly back to Britain.
exceeded expectations.
on arrival there is a check-in desk in a small lobby that seems to be manned 24/7. the receptionist/concierge was pleasant enough and spoke excellent english, we arrived mid afternoon on a saturday and there were lots of cases in the lobby, (assuming guests that had checked out but was not moving on til later), whilst checking in an english guest came down to enquire about a fridge, there seemed to be a small communal fridge under the cases in the lobby.
we got our key and went in search of our room, it was at the top of the building, we took the small lift and trough a door into the hotel as some of the other doors off the stairwell seemed either commercial or residential as some signs stated "this is not a hotel". when we did find our correct hallway we were pleasantly surprised, seemed very clean, bright, modern (not contemporary). we located our room and was surprised further, a fairly large room with 3 ample single beds 2 slightly bigger than 1 which fitted our party well (2 adults, 1 child). it had everything needed ie air-con, tv, hot drink making facilities, en-suit bathroom with towels/toiletries, etc... at the end of the room was a window with a traditional sun/storm slatted shade that opened up on to a small balcony, it was only then, you get the sense of height and a great view over the street and beyond. there was/is a feel of colonial granger to the building/street/location.
Location was perfect, 2 minutes off La Ramblas and loads of decent bars/restaurants etc...
on leaving for the evening you have to hand your key in at the desk, make sure you remember your room number.
Negatives: probably was once a large apartment building in 1800's with large rooms, but now have been partitioned up leaving some odd shaped rooms and thin walls, but it is not a 5 star suite you would lounge around in all day.
definately would stay again and would recommend, I am aware there are lots of better places and probably worse, but it suited our needs perfectly.

Room tip: we enjoyed looking over the street/square
