We stayed there as a couple. The receptionist, the concierge, the housekeeping manager as well as all the staff that took care of us were professional and smiling. The spanish cottages were warm & inviting.

The woodpecker restaurants was beyong expectation & food there is to die for….The Breakfast , lunch & Dinner which was part of the package was well worth the every penny spend.

All in all an extremely enjoyable experience under aegis of mr mohan

Best was fountain show

1) First Setback:

We checked into the Aamby Valley hotel on Sunday. Upon check in, one of the staff sat with us and explained all the activites , timings, restaurants etc. After checking in, we started calling up the various activity centres to get more details on pricing / reservation, but to our surprise we realised that 40-50% of the activities were not even functional due to some reason or the other. We then requested the hotel for an earlier check out than scheduled, basically next day check out. To our shock, the hotel refused the same & said they cannot refund the one nights stay even if we check out early

2) Overall Situation:

After paying through the nose, a price of 21,000 Rs per room per night, one expects a minimum standard of amenities & service. Unfortunately there were various issues that we faced:

- Sub standard breakfast spread. In fact the last day of our stay there was no buffet laid as there were probably only 2-3 families staying in the property
- Air conditioning in the restaurants were switched off on 2 occassions, when we landed up at 4pm at their coffee shop
- The restaurant chairs were dirty, seemed not maintained
- TV in our room was not working properly
- LIght bulbs outside our room in the verandah were non functional. We had to call maintenance who then fixed it
- Fruits were not even kept in the room though there was an empty fruit bowl/dish. It took three reminders for them to fill it up
- The reception informed us that we had to carry our own towels to the pool area as pool towels were not being given. Upon reaching the pool it turned out wrong.. there were towels being given there by the 1 or 2 staff
- Swimming Pool had a bar but was not functional
- No life guard at the Swimming Pool which is a very basic thing provided at all star hotels. It was surprising to see the poor safety standards
- The Jacuzzi in the swimming pool could only be used on a chargeable basis . A whopping Rs 2,800

3) ATV Experience:

One of the activities was an ATV ride. We were excited to try this out and checked at the reception whether we would be required to book, to which they responded it was on a first come first serve basis. So we left the room in the Aamby Valley transport to reach the ATV location which was a 5min driver outside the city limits. Upon reaching there, the ATV reception asked us for our room no and allowed us to enter. When we reached the main area of action, we were made to wait for 15min and not a single person came to check on us / our interest / request. When we spoke to them a bit sternly on their service level, they asked us to go back to the reception to fill a form. We refused to go back and told them that they needed to be systematic in telling us all the things we need to do but they cannot ask us to keep shuttling at their convenience. They then brought the forms which we filled out , signed and then chose the 4 seater ATV ride which costed us Rs 7,500 for 30 min !! Anyways, we went for the ride wherein 2 of us were to drive for 15min each. After my turn completion, when it was my daughters turn, we realised that the helmet they gave was so large that it kept falling down on her face thereby not allowing her to see anything in the front, which can be extremely risky on such a ride. We tried swapping helmets and while doing so, realised that one of the helmets actually had a cockroach on it !!! It was extremely dirty and filthy. We decided to stick to only me being the driver.

Post the ride, when we were ready to sign the bill to our room, they suddenly informed us that they accept only cash. We then had to speak to the guest relations manager to sort it out. No information from the hotel on their dos & donts !

4) Golf Driving Range:

This was a good experience . The people were very nice & helpful at the driving range. We had a good time during the 1 hr that was spent here.

5) Last but not the Least :

On the last day during check out, we went for breakfast while the baggages were taken by the concierge. After bfast, when we packed the luggage into the boot of our car, we realised that a packet was missing. My daughter rushed with the concierge guy (who said he was sure nothing was left) to the room , and after some searching the packet was found lying outside the room !! Added to our woes, all the 5 apples that we had kept for our journey were flicked by someone !!! We lodged a complaint upon noticing this (much later) with the Guest Relations Manager - Julie Singh. We are yet to hear on her finding, based on our complaint
