The Westin Grand München appears to offer a blend of contemporary charm and nostalgic touches, with its updated, bright common areas and '80s/'90s style rooms. Guests have called out the hotel's cleanliness and praised the spotless conditions, though opinions on room size and modernity vary.
While some travelers find the service exemplary, others have had less favorable interactions with the staff. The hotel's location is popular for its proximity to Munich's attractions and public transport, and amenities like the gym and spa are appreciated, despite some remarks about outdated decor.

We stayed in the Westin Grand Munich during Oktoberfest and it did a great job of providing a quiet place to sleep. Beyond that, however, this hotel left quite a bit to be desired. First, the hotel is a bit outside the city center, so you’ll be spending a bit of time commuting back and forth on the metro system if you’re really hoping to visit the city. Second, as a result of the distance, there aren’t many bars or restaurants nearby the hotel that allow for dining. The breakfast at the hotel is quite expensive (29 euros per person), so I ended up going to the nearby grocery store to buy yogurt and fruit. Third, there were two days where the service didn’t seem to clean our room. It looked like the bed had been quickly made, but the garbage hadn’t been removed (including the empty yogurts or fruit trays), so the room started to smell. All in all, I think this hotel would be perfectly fine for business travelers who are looking for a one-night stay, quick access to corporate offices and a modest expense account.

Dear 588douglasp, I would like to express my sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations, especially as you were not happy with the service provided and with the condition of the room. I have addressed the issues raised with the relevant departments in order to avoid a future occurrence and I would like to thank you once again for these valuable comments. With regards to the location of the hotel, there are excellent connections on public transportation to the hotel and an underground station is located within 300 meters from the Hotel in Arabella Park from where a train takes only a few minutes to the city centre. We do hope to having the opportunity of welcoming you back to The Westin Grand Munich in the near future. With Kind regards, Juana Moll-Hoog Assistant Guest Relations Manager

I stayed here recently on a business trip to Munich. The hotel looks nice from the inside but lacks the warmth and friendliness one would expect from a Marriott property. Being a Gold/Platinum guest, I was given a room quite early in the morning and that was appreciated but the overall feel of the hotel appears to be quite unfriendly.
The location is way off from the city center and if you're looking to be close to the action and having everything close to you, this is not the place to be. I'd give a 5/10 on location (the closest U bahn station is like 5-7 minutes walk away).
If you find a good deal (under $100) and don't mind the location being off and can deal with unfriendly folks, go for it for a few days.

This hotel is set out from the city centre but a quick 3 minute walk to the Arabellapark U bahn station followed by a 15 minute train ride takes you into the old town centre. The hotel is clean, well maintained and the staff very helpful. The room had everything I wanted and expected and was spotless. The gym was well equipped and the pool and saunas were again clean and all I expected from this class of hotel. I will definitely stay here again.

First be aware that you are in a suburb, not in or even particularly near the city center. If you are there on business you will take a taxi and not care. If not, the subway stop to the U4 is a three minute walk and that line takes you directly to Stachus, the old city tourism and the modern shopping center, as well as to the main train station. About a 15 minute ride but if you are catching a train be aware that Arabellapark is the final stop so there can be an 8 minute wait until the subway departs again for the city. The ticket you need is for 1 Zone and costs 3.30. Sorry if this is too much information but I am a big fan of public transport in Europe Now regarding the hotel. It is a very big sort of 70's style building with enormous useless lobby space. Try to get a room that faces the city and if you can pull it off, a corner room that faces both the city and the mountains. Stunning views at all times of the day and in any weather! If not, be sure to at least catch that view from a higher floor hallway window towards the mountains. The rooms are OK, other reviewers have noted that they could use an update: curtains drab, carpet dirty and stained. The buffet breakfast is very nice with fresh fruit, omelet station, different breads etc. Biggest disappointment: it was a cold February and the sauna beckoned. However, they only have a co-ed sauna which is quite surprising for an international hotel. Most big hotels have separate saunas or at least separate times of use.

Top hotel, as always! Stayed with my Family; my wife and I automatically upgraded to corner suite and the kids upgraded to a room on the executive level (Floor 20) as well as Platinum member. Every area was top, to include the breakfast restaurant, spa/pool, reception, top floor lounge, and parking garage. The hotel manager even provided a hand signed 'welcome back' letter with a piece of chocolate in our suite. Regarding COVID-19 measures, it was easy to simply provide proof of full vaccination with the CovPass App for myself, my wife, and my two teenagers. We'll definitely be coming back to this property! Thank you!

The staff here are all helpful and the location to the trams and shops is super convenient. Eating lunch and having beer downstairs was fantastic and our server was the best and gave us some great tips of places that locals frequent. The hotel itself is huge with a lot of amenities, food and drink options, nice pool, etc. The rooms however, eeesh. We had a renovated room and there is this horrible piece of woodwork that is supposed to be a fancy headboard, it makes it darn near impossible and painful to sit up and read your book before bed as it cuts into your neck and shoulders. The Westin always advertises the 'heavenly bed'...this bed was lumpy, slanted and we both woke up with severe lower back pain.

I would like to say that the Westin Arabella Munich would be a definite recommendation, but the housekeeping team has let them down often. One of the best buffet breakfast I've had around the world. The variety is amazing, along with the sparkling Prosecco. Unfortunately, have stayed at the Westin in several occasions and often found cleanliness flaws. Either, left over hair in the bath tub, soiled towels, or rooms left unclean. Can't say that I have found those everyone, but nevertheless, shouldn't be. The garden wing curtains always have huge gaps in them, bringing in bright light when one tries to sleep. The staff are more than willing to assist but reception gets extremely busy. I love Munich and hence keep coming back, less for the hotel though.

Dear Mr. kareless02, Firstly I would like to apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced during your last stay. I was, of course, most concerned to learn about your disappointment with the Housekeeping service and I am very sorry that the condition of your room did not meet your expectations. Please note that we have an ongoing maintenance program in place to make sure our rooms are regularly looked after and I am sorry this was not the case on this occasion and therefore I have asked our Executive Housekeeper to discuss your feedback with the teams in order to avoid a future occurrence. Once again please accept my sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations and we are hoping to having the opportunity of welcoming you back to a problem free stay. With Kind regards, Juana Moll-Hoog Assistant Guest Relations Manager

Those wacky Germans are such jokers. A lovely big hotel with lovely friendly staff in quiet office/apartment Arabellapark in Bogenhausen convenient to trolley and subway lines to town. Perfect for kids who love to ride trolleys and scamper through the huge inviting lobby.
And the bathrooms alone are worth the price of admission. Double sinks, separate tub and shower, (see pix) but be careful that the shower wand is pointed to the side or you get a faceful ice water when you turn on the shower. Best of all is the (ahem) throne. Where else can you admire yourself while solving all the world's problems? (See tasteful pix.) I told you these folks have a sense of humor.
As a Marriott elite I got upgraded but turned it down to get a room next to my family. The Lounge, however is very worthwhile with stunning views of the city, lots of drinks, good German-style breakfast, and light supper. Your room key gets you elevator and lounge access, but the keypad takes its sweet time deciding to acknowledge you. I got frustrated and a German businessman on the car with me said I had to be patient while the elevator made up its mind.
Underground parking belongs to the city but can be billed to the room. 30€ per day is cheaper than New Orleans, and the front desk gives you a ticket to exit whenever you want to come and go, but you're riding the trolley or rental bikes anyway, right?

The location of the hotel is pretty fine. It is good accessible via the highway tram and metro and located in a little bit outside the city centre in Munich. The surrounding is mostly. characterized by office buildings and a little park next to it. The hotel itself reminds me of the charming ladies for you is large, modern and beautiful. When you take the elevator up to the rooms, the floors are still spreading the charming 80s and 90s style and the rooms are similar. To set that there is everywhere carpet, and the furniture in the rooms have the wooden style of this period of time the air conditioning was working with a nice clattering sound. The hotel bar is nice and modern and has an open concept and the adjacent Biergarten at the lower floor as the typical rustic environment. The prices are typical for hotels. Little bit has a higher than usual but you have in walking distance, different possibilities to dine and wine or even do some grocery shopping.

Dear 323MarcK, It was a delight having you as our guest. I am glad to hear that your overall experience was positive, other than the fact that the hotel is in need of renovation. You might be interested in knowing that the plan is already in motion and I certainly hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back once this charming lady gets "the new outfit". What a luxurious place to stay. The breakfasts are amazing - such a fabulous buffet, perfect omelettes, great cappuccinos and large selection of fresh fruit. But the best thing is the Club Lounge Access - really worth the extra as it includes dinner as well as snacks and drinks all day. Last night for dinner we had a fabulous salad and cold cuts for starter, then Salmon with Thai vegetables and rice, finishing with a huge selection of desserts snd cheese, washed down with as much wine as we could drink. This was all included in Club Lounge Access. Liliana, the Club host, was lovely and attentive. We were a family staying for a few days and found the location great for the English Garden and for the tram, bus and underground links into the city centre. We would have stayed longer if that had been possible - all of us loved the hotel that much. Oh and if you are driving, we found it fine to park on the street rather than the expensive hotel car park. Enjoy!
