Spent a weekend in Aamby Valley and realized how unique it is. Everything out there is world class. The Pine villas are comparable to Scotland. The music fountain is comparable only to Dubai. Name any adventure sports, you have it. ATV, Rock climbing, zip lining, zorbing, paint ball, water sports, natural and man made water falls. Really out of the world experience. Best food as well. Staff are very courteous

Located at the perfect spot, away from the hustleof Mumbai, this property deserves accolades for excellent location, great views and amazing hospitality. We stayed at one of the spanish cottages and it was one of the best getaways I ever had.Romantic, secluded and quiet, the canopy overlooked the greenmountains and was spacious with lots of natural light
There are lots of walking trails around the property, with lots of trees and birds. It's a bird lover's paradise. The fountain show is pretty cool too and there is a lovely morning hike to a nearby fort and evening nature walk for those interested in more than just unwinding.
The restaurant are amazing here with cuisines all around the globe available
The staff are attentive, without being obtrusive and pay minute attention to smallest of details for the ultimate customer delight.
Perfect,Perfect,Perfect.

So we went to Aamby Valley with another couple. It was an expensive getaway but I said what the hell! We booked a Spanish cottage for a night. We got a good deal of 19000/- In that we breakfast and lunch complimentary. We also got tickets to the Broadway Show Cirque De Glace worth 2500/- each complimentary. We both believe in spending where required and this was my cost analysis for doing such an expensive trip.
So considering 2 pax dinner would be 2*1000 =2000 and 2 pax breakfst =2*1000 =2000 and tickets to the show 3 *2500=7500; we got nearly 11500/- bucks worth freebies. the room cost would have worked upto only 7500/- Which was reasonable or so we thought....
This is a huge place (city)carved out within the mountains. There are living quarters, cottages and villas spread across this place along with different spots or zones for rereation. You travel to and fro from your room to a vantage point by Mercedes(free - obviously thats why the room rates) and from there on golf carts take you through the narrow bylanes to the reception or your specific destination. Thats where the oomph factor lies!

The entry into Aamby Valley came as a pleasant surprise to me. We were greeted by Dholaks and Shehnais. This was a first and makes you feel majestic. One up for Aamby valley.
The Spanish cottage was a horror. It was a tastless little cottage with cloth covering the walls. Hot and stuffy. They suggested that we upgrade into an Ozzie Villa hingy by paying 6000/- extra. I argued that this was a nice way to make money. Give the guests something horrible and they would be forced to upgrade. After a two hour long fight the irritating duty manager(Jeetendra) took us to the recently renovated Spanish cottages. This we liked and we settled. The room was good, 4 star quality, but nothing I havent seen before. The exception being an Ipod docking station. So one down for Aamby valley.

Food:
we were given a choice to have our meals at the Woodpecker or veg. restaurant Manuhar. Woodepecker served good food. The variety was good. The chicken sausages were to die for. I wish there was a chicken tandoori dish. I never undersatnd why restaurants dont keep it in their 10 course menu - a fried chicken dish! Anyway, botht the meals dinner and breakfast there was lovely. The veg. rstaurant Manuhar was a disappointment. The food was overtly sweet even for a gujrati. The dishes were strictly okay nd the variety typical. Manuhar was located at the 'Summit -business centre. In that building there was a kiddie play room which was in terrible condition. most of the toys were broken and the trampoline was torn. These are the only two restaurants we visited.

The mini club: Was alright. Swimsuits are compulsory. We couldnt get into the water. There was a beachwear shop, we did not enter we were too tired.
Leisure Lounge: A must visit. A cozy siesta room coupled with a library and a super awesome play room for kids! This has go to be a kids dream play room. There is a snooker table, and baths and a huge gymnasium that I doubt guests use too much. The entry is free and you can stay as long as you like. Only the snooker is paid for.
Lagoon: 700/- per pax for the wave pool for 40 mins, plus swimsuits compulsory even for kids. It was worked out to 3000/- and more for 40 mins which we thought was a waste of money considering the afternoon sun was up. This place would have been ideal if we had visited it in the late morning 11 ish.
Stable; The horses were well tamed and beauifully bread. Half an hour on a horse for a kid is 400/- I felt it wasnt too bad and worth it.
Rod and reel(Angling) We did not try this though we visited this area.
Decibel(disco): We had kids. where would we leave them?
Aqua sports: Huge disappointment. All the jet skis were down. Kids were not allowed on the banana boat ride. And we did not want to take just a boat ride. we do that plenty here in Mumbai. they should mention that on the pamphlete somewhere.
The Legends(Golf course): I felt this was one of the best parts. The golf course is nice, however not better than the one at Khargar. We got 55 balls for 300/- and coaching was free. This felt good and worth trying. My hubby has started taking golf lessons after his trial here. He loved it.
19 Latitude: This was way outside, hence we did it the last. This is an in house adventure zone. It has rock climbing, rappelling. they were offering rock climbing and rappelling together as a compulsory duo citing reasons that the rappelling equipment was not working.(isnt that the same equipment err? Zip line - closes at 6:00 pm, we reached a little late - we were not allowed to do it. Zorbing was fun for people who dont get sick and are not claustrophobic. The people doing remote car racing seemed to be enjoying themselves. Overall worth it.
The broadway show- cirque de Glace: It was a modern take on a broadway showfeaturing pollution and global warming as its main theme. I liked it in the first 30 mins. after that it gets a little tiresome.
Dancing fountains: This was worth a watch and complimentary for all guests. I LOVEDDDDDD this show. It was only 20 mins but really nice. It still cannot hold a candle to the Amer Fort Light and Sound show or the fountains at Vrindavan. But still worth a watch!
It did feel like people with more inclination towards sports would enjoy more at Aamby Valley. Because the massages and spas are expensive without any extras thrown in. I felt that in some places like the water sports, rapelling and rooms a little bit of attention could have yielded better results. After all it is very expensive. Overall the best part is the sheer feeling of luxury you get when you travel every other place to and fro by a Mercedes and a golf cart. Wear a dress and a sun hat and you will feel like a billionaress roaming her vast beautiful estate. Once you check out, you can leave your bags at the reception and still use the Merc facility to visit the various zones. The room service is strictly average and so are the managers and the reception. But to maintain a place like this with staff and all is no joke. It also has great photo ops like the Bharat mata statue and the big swings and other landmarks. Even the concept of such a place is brilliant. It is absolutely kid-friendly. So if you are only an adventure freak, just buy a " DAY TICKET" leave the kids at home and return in the evening after enjoying the outdoor sports. You will save a lot of money that way. But to stay here is an experience that I would recommend for a good family time. It may mean fewwer sports but still a well rounded fun time. And to breathe in that pollution free air is an energising experience.
