This is one of my favourite places for a weekend specially during monsoons. I visit this place every year and never get bored. Excellent location to enjoy the beauty and nature of our city.
The best part of the monsoons is the little corner that sells jalebis and samosas at 5pm daily only during monsoon season.
I love the Aussie chalets and live with my family there each time. One weekend is not enough to experience the entire place. every visit, I get to explore a new part of this place. Must visit the Golf club area..

Hi all,

Hope this review helps you in regards to travel.. we visited Ambay Valley on 22nd nov wanted to visit either Ambay valley or Hilton since the latter was booked we decided to visit the former as wanted to be close to the nature & did not want to be around the market area.. before booking we went through the site & saw appealing pictures of the rooms and went in for their superior category of rooms..

As we entered the property our details were taken at the gate like How many people , Car number and Aadhar card of any one member of the family after this we were let in ... now let in did not mean straight to lobby before lobby check in we had another check in for bags where bags were screened and also our liquor bottles were taken all this process took half an hour so anyone carrying outside liquor needs to be careful .. as the property promotes liquor from their restaurants only you cant get yours inside the property .. after check one can go to the reception where it takes another half an hour or more in formalities like ids etc.. staff at the reception is not very welcoming or pleasant till this point there is no luxury or holiday feel as till this pint it seems very commercial here I think even 2 star hotels would make you feel better 🤨

firstly you are delayed the staff is slow and inexperienced and lot of time is wasted here after you are put through this you have to reach the cottage car park and then a buggy will be called to take you to your room/ cottage which will take another half an hour🙄so if you are checking in at 2:30 consider room given to you at 4:00 in our case we got it at 5:30 read below 👇🏻

Now is the main cheat part please do not go for the base category of room thinking you are paying 10k or more so the rooms or stay would be at par or trusting the image of the room on the site .. the room shown to us was no less than a lodge we were 3 families who checked in almost the same time & were given same cottage category rooms while waiting for the buggy we saw families who went to check in come out in the same buggy that escorted them in they were coming out one by one back to the parking ..

Wondering what would have happened meanwhile our buggy arrived we saw the cottage at first and we’re slightly suspicious until we saw the rooms the rooms were no less than a lodge with yellow paints, printed bad curtains bad odour washrooms, leaked walls etc.. it was a nightmare a hut from outside and a mess from inside this after paying over 10 k for one room 😡now all families included us headed for the reception at the reception after a heated argument all the families were given an upgraded room called as Spanish cottage better than the first but still worst the rooms have good view but the overall stay in these rooms still remains unimpressive old and unclean the beds were sunken it had peat control odour, the washroom had black dirt in between tiles the room looked outdated with polish coming out laminates pealing, bugs in the bed don't know where to stop .. the only grace was the view which yet again could be visible only from some cottages.. disappointment toally🙄

Coming to the restaurants there are 5-6 restaurants Like Woodpecker , lake side restaurant , Lebanese restaurant , some tea stall type nukads.. global restaurant serving multi cisine ans bihari restaurant food I found below average in every restaurant nothing worth mentioning..the food was not worth the amount mostly rates start above 900 for both veg and non veg only the tea stalls inside amey valley selling vada pav tea samoasas and other nick nacks have all items at 120 the food served at each restaurants was pricy & not worth at all😒horrible taste

The customer service is below average if you call in room service or buggy or any thing else it takes a while be sure you carry sheets as I am unsure if the room is well sanitised or cleaned daily ..

I Would not recommend the base category rooms at all one can try the Spanish cottage category if you can ignore points mentioned above and if it suits your budget. The view is different from each cottage only be sure you check 2-3 rooms if available before you select one..

I would recommend the room which is named as and its not handled by Ambay Valley but another group these rooms are better and only one room I am told has the best view which I have put up for you to check this room has amazing breath taking view lovely room with jacuzzi at the deck actually all rooms in this category have jacuzzi in the deck area above this category there are more different & higher category rooms and one can definitely check them out if it suits your budget..😊

Amey valley in short is definitely a must visit it has golf course , play area , lake grounds, temple, restaurants all the amenities of urban living.. the scenery is very good with spectacular views both natural ans man made you will love the place if you are a nature lover.. there are boat rides and lots to explore once you are in..

If you are ready to ignore some of the glitches of rooms cleanliness and service for the sake of scenic view and fresh air then this is your type of place only be sure of the rooms .. hard on pocket but a must one time visit

So we went to Aamby Valley with another couple. It was an expensive getaway but I said what the hell! We booked a Spanish cottage for a night. We got a good deal of 19000/- In that we breakfast and lunch complimentary. We also got tickets to the Broadway Show Cirque De Glace worth 2500/- each complimentary. We both believe in spending where required and this was my cost analysis for doing such an expensive trip.
So considering 2 pax dinner would be 2*1000 =2000 and 2 pax breakfst =2*1000 =2000 and tickets to the show 3 *2500=7500; we got nearly 11500/- bucks worth freebies. the room cost would have worked upto only 7500/- Which was reasonable or so we thought....
This is a huge place (city)carved out within the mountains. There are living quarters, cottages and villas spread across this place along with different spots or zones for rereation. You travel to and fro from your room to a vantage point by Mercedes(free - obviously thats why the room rates) and from there on golf carts take you through the narrow bylanes to the reception or your specific destination. Thats where the oomph factor lies!

The entry into Aamby Valley came as a pleasant surprise to me. We were greeted by Dholaks and Shehnais. This was a first and makes you feel majestic. One up for Aamby valley.
The Spanish cottage was a horror. It was a tastless little cottage with cloth covering the walls. Hot and stuffy. They suggested that we upgrade into an Ozzie Villa hingy by paying 6000/- extra. I argued that this was a nice way to make money. Give the guests something horrible and they would be forced to upgrade. After a two hour long fight the irritating duty manager(Jeetendra) took us to the recently renovated Spanish cottages. This we liked and we settled. The room was good, 4 star quality, but nothing I havent seen before. The exception being an Ipod docking station. So one down for Aamby valley.

Food:
we were given a choice to have our meals at the Woodpecker or veg. restaurant Manuhar. Woodepecker served good food. The variety was good. The chicken sausages were to die for. I wish there was a chicken tandoori dish. I never undersatnd why restaurants dont keep it in their 10 course menu - a fried chicken dish! Anyway, botht the meals dinner and breakfast there was lovely. The veg. rstaurant Manuhar was a disappointment. The food was overtly sweet even for a gujrati. The dishes were strictly okay nd the variety typical. Manuhar was located at the 'Summit -business centre. In that building there was a kiddie play room which was in terrible condition. most of the toys were broken and the trampoline was torn. These are the only two restaurants we visited.

The mini club: Was alright. Swimsuits are compulsory. We couldnt get into the water. There was a beachwear shop, we did not enter we were too tired.
Leisure Lounge: A must visit. A cozy siesta room coupled with a library and a super awesome play room for kids! This has go to be a kids dream play room. There is a snooker table, and baths and a huge gymnasium that I doubt guests use too much. The entry is free and you can stay as long as you like. Only the snooker is paid for.
Lagoon: 700/- per pax for the wave pool for 40 mins, plus swimsuits compulsory even for kids. It was worked out to 3000/- and more for 40 mins which we thought was a waste of money considering the afternoon sun was up. This place would have been ideal if we had visited it in the late morning 11 ish.
Stable; The horses were well tamed and beauifully bread. Half an hour on a horse for a kid is 400/- I felt it wasnt too bad and worth it.
Rod and reel(Angling) We did not try this though we visited this area.
Decibel(disco): We had kids. where would we leave them?
Aqua sports: Huge disappointment. All the jet skis were down. Kids were not allowed on the banana boat ride. And we did not want to take just a boat ride. we do that plenty here in Mumbai. they should mention that on the pamphlete somewhere.
The Legends(Golf course): I felt this was one of the best parts. The golf course is nice, however not better than the one at Khargar. We got 55 balls for 300/- and coaching was free. This felt good and worth trying. My hubby has started taking golf lessons after his trial here. He loved it.
19 Latitude: This was way outside, hence we did it the last. This is an in house adventure zone. It has rock climbing, rappelling. they were offering rock climbing and rappelling together as a compulsory duo citing reasons that the rappelling equipment was not working.(isnt that the same equipment err? Zip line - closes at 6:00 pm, we reached a little late - we were not allowed to do it. Zorbing was fun for people who dont get sick and are not claustrophobic. The people doing remote car racing seemed to be enjoying themselves. Overall worth it.
The broadway show- cirque de Glace: It was a modern take on a broadway showfeaturing pollution and global warming as its main theme. I liked it in the first 30 mins. after that it gets a little tiresome.
Dancing fountains: This was worth a watch and complimentary for all guests. I LOVEDDDDDD this show. It was only 20 mins but really nice. It still cannot hold a candle to the Amer Fort Light and Sound show or the fountains at Vrindavan. But still worth a watch!
It did feel like people with more inclination towards sports would enjoy more at Aamby Valley. Because the massages and spas are expensive without any extras thrown in. I felt that in some places like the water sports, rapelling and rooms a little bit of attention could have yielded better results. After all it is very expensive. Overall the best part is the sheer feeling of luxury you get when you travel every other place to and fro by a Mercedes and a golf cart. Wear a dress and a sun hat and you will feel like a billionaress roaming her vast beautiful estate. Once you check out, you can leave your bags at the reception and still use the Merc facility to visit the various zones. The room service is strictly average and so are the managers and the reception. But to maintain a place like this with staff and all is no joke. It also has great photo ops like the Bharat mata statue and the big swings and other landmarks. Even the concept of such a place is brilliant. It is absolutely kid-friendly. So if you are only an adventure freak, just buy a " DAY TICKET" leave the kids at home and return in the evening after enjoying the outdoor sports. You will save a lot of money that way. But to stay here is an experience that I would recommend for a good family time. It may mean fewwer sports but still a well rounded fun time. And to breathe in that pollution free air is an energising experience.

The month of April took us to that gated fairly land called Aamby Valley city to attend what could only be called a Big Fat Indian Wedding on Steroids.

The Aamby Valley was effectively taken over by the wedding party - nearly 800 people in multitudes of chalets, hotel units, cottages.

A few of the photographs that I have attached are the venue on the Benares Ghat where the main wedding ceremony took place. And a few landscapes that you see are the view from the room.

It will be fitting to speak of the Aamby Valley which is a tightly controlled gated resort and entry is rather restricted, you go only as a member or a members guest. Of course they also allow the visitors to stay in this wonderful complex with pre bookings, if accommodation is available, which can be a trifle difficult to get since the place is quite popular for corporate events and weddings.

The Chalets created in truly Swiss style are pure wooden wonders. All wooden construction with most modern facilities. You can't ask for more.

The best part of the Aamby Valley is the musical fountain that plays every evening between 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The mist screen on which the Laser projection of Mother India and a message from Mr Subrat Roy Sahara starts the show. The musical and dancing fountain is a piece de resistance. The brightly lit, babes in white lights, the shooting jets of water a delight to behold. And I must say, they are actually superior to the much touted Dubai Fountain at the base of Buj Khalifa. The fountain movements set to Azeem us Shan Shanshah - song from Jodha Akbar - is absolutely breathtaking. The fire balls, the water jets, the booming music is absolutely amazing.

I will not take away the bang of the place by speaking of the water sports, the jet skis, the 360 degree turning boats, the banana rides, the wave pool, the beach ball, the golf course, the cricketing field. And that wonderful peaceful Kaali Maata temple built in alabaster white pure marble where the bells gives such soothing sound amidst those hills. And lest I forget, the mega sized Auditorium that can house nearly 2000 people.

The many restaurants - Mabruk / Woodpecker where we dined besides the open venues where wedding dinners were arranged. And food is in keeping with the overall ambience of the place - no reason to complain.

I find it amazing how such a wonderful resort can be created and maintained to world class standards. And to learn that resort spread over a few thousand hectares wants to maintain 95 percent natural greenery / forest cover. It's truly an oasis of calm and comfort so close to chaos of Mumbai.
