The month of April took us to that gated fairly land called Aamby Valley city to attend what could only be called a Big Fat Indian Wedding on Steroids.
The Aamby Valley was effectively taken over by the wedding party - nearly 800 people in multitudes of chalets, hotel units, cottages.
A few of the photographs that I have attached are the venue on the Benares Ghat where the main wedding ceremony took place. And a few landscapes that you see are the view from the room.
It will be fitting to speak of the Aamby Valley which is a tightly controlled gated resort and entry is rather restricted, you go only as a member or a members guest. Of course they also allow the visitors to stay in this wonderful complex with pre bookings, if accommodation is available, which can be a trifle difficult to get since the place is quite popular for corporate events and weddings.
The Chalets created in truly Swiss style are pure wooden wonders. All wooden construction with most modern facilities. You can't ask for more.
The best part of the Aamby Valley is the musical fountain that plays every evening between 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The mist screen on which the Laser projection of Mother India and a message from Mr Subrat Roy Sahara starts the show. The musical and dancing fountain is a piece de resistance. The brightly lit, babes in white lights, the shooting jets of water a delight to behold. And I must say, they are actually superior to the much touted Dubai Fountain at the base of Buj Khalifa. The fountain movements set to Azeem us Shan Shanshah - song from Jodha Akbar - is absolutely breathtaking. The fire balls, the water jets, the booming music is absolutely amazing.
I will not take away the bang of the place by speaking of the water sports, the jet skis, the 360 degree turning boats, the banana rides, the wave pool, the beach ball, the golf course, the cricketing field. And that wonderful peaceful Kaali Maata temple built in alabaster white pure marble where the bells gives such soothing sound amidst those hills. And lest I forget, the mega sized Auditorium that can house nearly 2000 people.
The many restaurants - Mabruk / Woodpecker where we dined besides the open venues where wedding dinners were arranged. And food is in keeping with the overall ambience of the place - no reason to complain.
I find it amazing how such a wonderful resort can be created and maintained to world class standards. And to learn that resort spread over a few thousand hectares wants to maintain 95 percent natural greenery / forest cover. It's truly an oasis of calm and comfort so close to chaos of Mumbai.
