1. Resort (and villa) were very clean.
2. Our room/condo was decent. There was some wear and tear and some aging design elements, but nothing that you would be concerned with. It was clean and seemed somewhat recently renovated.
3. The second (non-master bedroom) was tiny (not much larger than the bed). Didn't really make a difference to me, I'm not too picky with room size; just an observation.
4. The pool area(s) are very nice. However, if you didn't get to the pool by 10am and "reserve" your chair(s) with a towel, you weren't getting a space until around 3/4pm when the pool seemed to empty out each day. Lots of guests will put towels on chairs in the morning and come back later.
5. The main pool area doesn't have a lot of shade; actually, very little. So bring lots of sunscreen and sun protection as it gets very hot in the direct sun.
6. The hot tub is VERY hot.
7. Resort location is in the eye of the beholder, and always depends on your needs and wants. You can see Animal Kingdom from your balcony if you are facing that direction, so Disney is right there. 192 is also right there so there are a ton of chain restaurants and retail stuff within minutes if you have a rental car. Yes, you need a car if you stay at SLR. There is a Wal-Mart with food and liquor 5 minutes away and an ABC liquor store 2 minutes away.
Overall, a fine stay with no real complaints other than more shade in the pool area(s). Is it the nicest resort that I have ever been to? No. But I was very happy there, it was clean and I would certainly stay at SLR again.
As a travel advisors my tea and I attempted to review this resort for an upcoming Woman's large group trip. My team of 3 adults reserved a 1 bed room standard with sleeper sofa, pool view for a one night stay (Sat-Sun).
On arrival the property looks extremely old. Once we arrived to our building it did not smell sanitized, and there was dust and cob webs in the corner of the lobby. When we arrived to our floor after transitioning from the covered outdoor elevator to the indoor hallway, we were very disappointed to find it very dark and stuffy, and smelled of mold and mildew.
After traveling all of the way to the very end of the hall next to the fire exit, we arrived to our room. Upon arrival to our room our kitchen and sitting area appeared reasonable, and the best thing about the property. We discovered that the room was only equipped with 1 queen bed, and a queen size pull out couch. We called to the front desk to inquire about room options as we thought the "resort" had the option for 2 queen or 2 full beds in the bedroom. When we called the front desk the manager stated that this property only offers 1 queen bed in standard rooms. We asked if there were any upgrades or room options available and the manager stated that " It was above her." No other mangers were available to address this concern until Monday (after our check out). We thanked her and ended the call.
My team and I agreed to make the best of the trip and went to go onto our patio to make our 1st team video for the resort only to find that our rooms view was of the back of the building next to us, and a swamp (despite requesting a pool view). We called back to the front desk stating that we requested a pool view and requested if any other rooms on property with a pool room was available. The same manger again stated there was nothing that she could do, and there were no other standard rooms available. She went on to explain that although pool view was what we requested, and noted in our reservation that a pool view was not an option for standard rooms. The manager stated that there was nothing else she could do.
Bottom line, there are plenty of other true resorts in this same price range that offer a multitude of options, and managers always try to ensure their customers satisfaction.
I'm giving a lower rating because the toilet in the master bedroom is so tiny that I continually rubbed my elbow on the toilet paper roll. As big as this place is, they could have put more space there!!! Larger persons will NOT FIT!! Also, the Master Bedroom has no door between it and the bathroom/tub/shower. I would prefer more privacy! When you turn on the light in the toilet "room" the fan goes on which is really loud and wakes up the person sleeping in the adjoining bedroom.
The kitchen is huge and spacious. The second bedroom has two full beds. My daughter did have a few flying bugs in there, but got over it. The PILLOWS are like ROCKS. Can we have some Softer options??? The Dining area is very spacious and seats 6 people. There is an attached screened-in sunporch as well, which was very nice.
We had some trouble finding the place as there are no signs at the bottom of each set of stairs and we went up two flights of stairs twice trying to find our room, which was not located next to the logical numbered room.
The tennis court and pools (2) are very nice. No deep end as far as I could tell. We had some nice drinks at the pool. There is also a movie theater, which we enjoyed seeing "Game Night" at. (The top of the screen needs fixing though).
Overall, very nice place.
