Silver Lake Resort offers spacious rooms that some guests find nicely decorated, although many have called out the old furniture and outdated atmosphere. Its location earns praise for its quiet yet convenient proximity to Disney parks, dining, and shopping. However, some reviewers warn of maintenance and cleanliness issues, noting a lack of supplies and the need for better upkeep. While the array of amenities is appreciated, concerns over additional charges and the pressure of timeshare presentations have marred the perceived value and guest service experience.

First time staying at SLR and traveled with a group who used timeshare points to book a two bedroom condo/villa. In the end, it was a great stay and I had no real complaints. Some random thoughts and comments:

1. Resort (and villa) were very clean.

2. Our room/condo was decent. There was some wear and tear and some aging design elements, but nothing that you would be concerned with. It was clean and seemed somewhat recently renovated.

3. The second (non-master bedroom) was tiny (not much larger than the bed). Didn't really make a difference to me, I'm not too picky with room size; just an observation.

4. The pool area(s) are very nice. However, if you didn't get to the pool by 10am and "reserve" your chair(s) with a towel, you weren't getting a space until around 3/4pm when the pool seemed to empty out each day. Lots of guests will put towels on chairs in the morning and come back later.

5. The main pool area doesn't have a lot of shade; actually, very little. So bring lots of sunscreen and sun protection as it gets very hot in the direct sun.

6. The hot tub is VERY hot.

7. Resort location is in the eye of the beholder, and always depends on your needs and wants. You can see Animal Kingdom from your balcony if you are facing that direction, so Disney is right there. 192 is also right there so there are a ton of chain restaurants and retail stuff within minutes if you have a rental car. Yes, you need a car if you stay at SLR. There is a Wal-Mart with food and liquor 5 minutes away and an ABC liquor store 2 minutes away.

Overall, a fine stay with no real complaints other than more shade in the pool area(s). Is it the nicest resort that I have ever been to? No. But I was very happy there, it was clean and I would certainly stay at SLR again.

This was our first time at Silver Lake Resort. We stayed in a King Hotel room in early March 2020, which was great for our needs. It was equipped with a partial kitchen that included a sink, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and dishes/flatware (plates, bowls, drinking glasses, coffee mugs, forks, knives, spoons). The partial kitchen allowed us to eat breakfast and lunch on the screened in patio (since we didn't have a dining area). Our room had a connecting door to the room/condo next door, which we kept closed. However, we could hear everything from the room next door (talking, putting dishes away, etc.). The walls were paper thin, which was really disappointing. This was our number one complaint. The resort campus is nice. We spent time at the fitness center. movie theater and large pool area. There's not a ton going on at this resort for activities. It is much smaller than other resorts we have stayed at in the area through RCI. All staff was friendly and helpful.

We've been owners for 15 years but I'm noticing a lot less attention to detail and professionalism. We also have fewer perks than we used to. It's been disappointing. Pullout bed was so uncomfortable for my boys that we had to stack with cushions underneath the mattress. Smaller pool outside our room was filthy so we stuck with the bigger pool.

Response from JoannabSLR, Manager at Silver Lake Resort
Responded Feb 12, 2020
We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed. There have been quite a few upgrades made at the resort and there are several more that are in process or will be in process in the near future. Resurfacing of the interior roads and parking lots have just been completed. One of the pools is being resurfaced and the other two are scheduled for resurfacing in the near future. Unfortunately, sleeper sofas are just not as comfortable as a regular bed. We have looked into getting thicker mattresses for them, but they won't fold back into the couch.

SilverLake Resort is very clean, staff outstanding, huge units, close to Animal World, Margaritaville, wide world of sports, old town, celebration and golf. Property very well maintained pools were large and had a bar/restaurant next to them with reasonable prices. Golf simulator is terrific but was closed due to COVID 19

This is our families' favorite resort. We have been here twice now, both for Disney trips. We have a loud family so we have always requested to be housed in the back of the resort - never a problem (thank you!). We went over Memorial Day weekend 2021 and expected the worst with rumors of COVID in the area but were pleasantly surprised with the sanitization efforts and cleanliness of the property. They went above and beyond with making us feel safe and protected. We spent most of our time in the parks but we used the pool several nights and couldn't have been more pleased. Clean, water temp was perfect, always plenty of towels available. My favorite is always the abundance of lizards. Location to the resorts is perfect along with proximity to grocery/shopping stores. We chose a 3 bedroom option which consisted of a 2 bedroom unit and an adjoining studio unit (total of 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms). Great supply of bath towels and toiletries. Each unit had a full kitchen, dining area, and living room. The kitchen was stocked with all necessary cooking utensils and supplies. Even had wine glasses! (perfect for enjoying a glass of wine on our screened in porch overlooking the fountain). Check-in & Check-out were quick and simple. Never had a problem getting into the resort when guards were away from the entrance. One night we were on our way back to the resort from Universal (after 10pm) and forgot which restaurants accepted the discounts. We called the front desk and they helped us find one that was open and connected us with them. Exceptional service! We will continue to use Silver Lake Resorts for each trip in the future. Thank you for making us feel like we are family and always treating us great!

This resort is not as pictured. Furniture is not comfortable. Management was less than accommodating.

As a travel advisors my tea and I attempted to review this resort for an upcoming Woman's large group trip. My team of 3 adults reserved a 1 bed room standard with sleeper sofa, pool view for a one night stay (Sat-Sun).

On arrival the property looks extremely old. Once we arrived to our building it did not smell sanitized, and there was dust and cob webs in the corner of the lobby. When we arrived to our floor after transitioning from the covered outdoor elevator to the indoor hallway, we were very disappointed to find it very dark and stuffy, and smelled of mold and mildew.

After traveling all of the way to the very end of the hall next to the fire exit, we arrived to our room. Upon arrival to our room our kitchen and sitting area appeared reasonable, and the best thing about the property. We discovered that the room was only equipped with 1 queen bed, and a queen size pull out couch. We called to the front desk to inquire about room options as we thought the "resort" had the option for 2 queen or 2 full beds in the bedroom. When we called the front desk the manager stated that this property only offers 1 queen bed in standard rooms. We asked if there were any upgrades or room options available and the manager stated that " It was above her." No other mangers were available to address this concern until Monday (after our check out). We thanked her and ended the call.

My team and I agreed to make the best of the trip and went to go onto our patio to make our 1st team video for the resort only to find that our rooms view was of the back of the building next to us, and a swamp (despite requesting a pool view). We called back to the front desk stating that we requested a pool view and requested if any other rooms on property with a pool room was available. The same manger again stated there was nothing that she could do, and there were no other standard rooms available. She went on to explain that although pool view was what we requested, and noted in our reservation that a pool view was not an option for standard rooms. The manager stated that there was nothing else she could do.

Bottom line, there are plenty of other true resorts in this same price range that offer a multitude of options, and managers always try to ensure their customers satisfaction.

Excellent Stay Feb 21-28. Reviewed Silver Lake about four years ago and it was 4 stars. Well congratulations to management and staff. They have refurbished rooms resurfaced parking lots and made this a five star resort to visit. Great Location to Visit Disney off property. Pools were heated to a temperature that was completely comfortable in Feb weather. EVERY staff member we encountered was friendly and proffesional . Thanks Silver Lake for a wonderful stay we will definitely be back .Highly recommend this propery. We were a couple in a one bedroom. It was the most quiet room we have hadin 30 years of traveling. Not sure if anyone was exactly next door. In my experience it just depends on what kind of neighbor you happen to get. Thanks again Silver Lake

The customer service is lacking. Called 3 times first night I checked in for sheets (10:30 pm through 12:00 am) and they never came. Cheyenne - customer service person would just reply "Security is on their way". No conversation and no interest to apologize or seem apologetic. The next day when I complained they told me that housekeeping starts at 8:30 in the morning. They told me that the only 2 bedrooms are in the older building although their website says that there are 2 bedrooms in the new building. Everyday they call for the RCI presentation even when I told them I would not be going anytime during the week. People vaping in the arcades and more than half of machines were broken.

When you get off the highway where all the stores, traffic and tourist attractions are, this is a nice tranquil escape. The suite we had was HUGE!!

I'm giving a lower rating because the toilet in the master bedroom is so tiny that I continually rubbed my elbow on the toilet paper roll. As big as this place is, they could have put more space there!!! Larger persons will NOT FIT!! Also, the Master Bedroom has no door between it and the bathroom/tub/shower. I would prefer more privacy! When you turn on the light in the toilet "room" the fan goes on which is really loud and wakes up the person sleeping in the adjoining bedroom.

The kitchen is huge and spacious. The second bedroom has two full beds. My daughter did have a few flying bugs in there, but got over it. The PILLOWS are like ROCKS. Can we have some Softer options??? The Dining area is very spacious and seats 6 people. There is an attached screened-in sunporch as well, which was very nice.

We had some trouble finding the place as there are no signs at the bottom of each set of stairs and we went up two flights of stairs twice trying to find our room, which was not located next to the logical numbered room.

The tennis court and pools (2) are very nice. No deep end as far as I could tell. We had some nice drinks at the pool. There is also a movie theater, which we enjoyed seeing "Game Night" at. (The top of the screen needs fixing though).

Overall, very nice place.

Since this resort seems to be always available for exchange, I was rather skeptical about its quality. However, staying at Disney onsite resort was not an option for my family, I booked Silver Lake for its distance to Walt Disney World. It takes about 18min to Magic Kingdom, 15min to Epcot and Hollywood Studio and 5 or 6 min to Animal Kingdom. Upon arrival, all my concerns about resort quality was erased. Front desk staff were extremely friendly and courteous. We were very pleased with their amenities - large swimming pools, gym, game room, basketball and tennis courts plus little play ground. Also they offer movies at their theater room on certain nights. Lots of restaurants and gift shops in the area reminds me a little of mini Vegas..? The only negative thing was not enough lighting in the unit but unless you stay up all night and party in the unit, who needs that extra lighting. Most of the day we were out at Disney park or Disney Springs or took a little field trip to Kennedy Space Center. If you are not planning to spend every single day whole day at Disney Parks, but take some time off from park hopping, this is a great resort for you to relax and spend a day or half day.
