We travelled for a wedding (36 people) from January 29-February 5, 2023 with Air Canada Vacations. We have extensive all inclusive travel experience having visited San Andreas (x1), Mexico (x3), Jamaica (x2), Dominican Republic (x7), The Bahamas (x1) and Cuba (x2).

Cancun Airport
Simply put, it's a madhouse. Have lots of patience and advocate for yourself to get your hotel transfer. The squeaky wheel gets the grease as they say. Leaving was equally crazy but it is, what it is.

Check In
We were greeted with cold towels and welcome drinks. The check in process was super smooth and seamless. Jose at the front desk was professional and efficient.

Room
We upgraded to a swim out room in Building Two with absolutely no regrets for having done so. This also upgraded us to the Preferred Club. It was a great treat for our party (my husband, me, my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew). If you are travelling with small children who love to swim, this allows you to extend their swimming day. Some of greatest moments were "night swimming" with my niece and nephew.

We had a king bed and it was super comfy. The room had a a couch, table and two chairs as well. The shower is large and we never had a problem with hot water. The safe worked well and the mini fridge was stocked daily.

Housekeeping was super efficient. Never waited for towels and it was always done around the same time each day. Room service was an added treat.

We had an issue with a leaky air conditioner and it is the fastest I have ever seen someone dispatched to fix a problem with a room at an all inclusive resort.

Food
It was wonderful. If you didn't find something to eat at this resort it was because you didn't want to eat. The main buffet always had a ton of options.

The restaurants were fantastic and you didn't need to pre-book. It was first come, first serve. There was only one night when there was a wait. They give you a beeper and let you know when your table is ready, giving you lots of time to grab a drink and relax. We loved Portofino. The French restaurant was also very good. Please note, Bordeaux requires a collared shirt for the gents.

The Barefoot Grill right next to the main pool always had hot and quick lunch/snack options available.

Coco Cafe was a great place to grab a speciality coffee and the donuts were a hit with the kids (and adults) in our group.

Bars
Excellent service, lots of selection. What more can you say!

Pool
The main pool was a little cold but so refreshing once you were in. The days were hot so it offered relief in the heat. There were always lots of pool towels unlike other resorts I've visited. There is an adults only pool for preferred club members. We didn't visit as we preferred to stay with our family and larger group. It is peaceful and secluded if that is your preference.

Preferred club members be sure to check with the Pool Concierge for a comfy cabana. I had a couple of amazing siestas in the heat of the afternoon there. The Bali Beds/Cabanas (with straw roof) cost extra. The pool concierge also looks after these.

Beach
I am not a beach person so I'm not the best person to offer feedback in this area. There was an abundance of seaweed that I thought they could have cleaned up better.

Service
Hands down the BEST service I have ever received at an all inclusive resort. The staff at Dreams Sapphire were amazing. Congratulations to the entire team!

Resort Stores
Very expensive! Bring everything you need with you or it will cost you an absolute fortune on site. My husband, sister and brother-in-law took a cab to the Puerto Morelos and visited a local supermarket where the prices were much, much better. This is where we bought snacks, tequila and vanilla to bring home with us. They said they felt very safe with no concerns. The cab driver stayed with them and drove them home when they were ready.

Cleanliness
Very, very clean. I had no issues in this area at all and this is where I am fussy when travelling.

Spa
We visited the spa on a couple of occasions. Once for facials with the bride (fantastic) and once with my husband for stress release body wraps (absolutely divine). If you can't afford a full spa treatment, I highly recommend booking a hydrotherapy session for $30 USD pp. It was an hour and you experience sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy spa, hot tub and cold plunge. You end the session with cucumber on your eyes, cosy in a rob, relaxing on a lounger with an attentive spa attendant at the ready.

Crococun Zoo
It is located at the main entrance of the resort. I highly recommend. My nephew loved it. It's clean and well maintained. The animals look well cared for. We saw crocodiles, four types of exotic birds, spider monkeys, six types of snakes, deer, wild cat, hairless Mexican dogs,

Overall, an amazing vacation. The only challenging parts involved Cancun airport and that was out of the control of Dreams Sapphire. Patience will go a long way.

I would rate this resort a 5/5. It exceeded our expectations on nearly every front.
I cannot stress this enough...the staff were out of this world.

I hope this is helpful to future travellers.
Cheers and bon voyage.

We just returned from our 8 day stay in the Now Sapphire on 7/18/17 - how sad we are to be home! My now husband and I planned our destination wedding at the resort, so there was a group of 21 staying at the resort. We had an extraordinary experience at this wonderful resort and I would recommend it to couples, families, and singles.

PROS:
The resort itself: beautiful, open air, modern and traditional accents everywhere you look, WATER everywhere (fountains, little ponds, etc.) and immaculately clean. The main lobby (which is HUGE), pool, and restaurants are set up on the north end of the resort, and the rooms on the south end. The layout of the resort was perfect and very easy to get to everything. It was big, but not too big. Just a few minute walk to anywhere in the resort. (I once stayed at a resort where we had to take a shuttle to the other side of the resort – that’s too big for me!)

The pools:
-The main pool is big and beautiful, with views of ocean everywhere. There are a LOT of palm roof umbrellas (palapas) over the chairs, which was wonderful.
-The adults only pool was nice, but we did not use, as we were with a large group. It did not have a beach/ocean view either.
-There was a cool kids/teens pool with basketball hoops and where they put on movies on an inflatable screen - pretty cool!

Beach: Somewhat narrow but beautiful and clean. Lots of chairs/umbrellas. There is indeed a lot of seaweed, but that’s how everywhere is on the coast now. It’s not the resort’s fault! And I should mention that they had men out there ALL DAY LONG raking up the seaweed. It’s really not a big deal – once you’re in the water, it’s not bothersome at all.

Bars: There is a beach bar, a pool bar (both water and land access), a lobby bar, a small bar next to one of the restaurants, and a bar at the adults only pool. Service was very good at all of the bars, but they do indeed provide better service for a tip...

Restaurants: there are several restaurants with full table service, plus a buffet open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The service at the sit-down restaurants was pretty slow, so we opted more for the Market Cafe (buffet). The service at the buffet was WONDERFUL, and there was such variety every day. The food was fresh and delicious. What we liked best was that you could get the "base" of your meal (salads, rice, pasta, etc.) and they also had two large grills with fresh meats and seafoods that they would cook up for you right there on the grill. I had a little bit of a stomach ache one day, and it was great because I just got some white rice and was able to ask for grilled chicken with no seasoning. They had huge prawns, mussels, calamari, beef, pork, different fish options, etc. It was wonderful!
We ate at Fresco (Mexican cuisine), Cibu (Mediterranean/Italian), and Bluewater Grill (meat and seafood), and all three had really good food, but again, the wait (for FOOD, not for service, really) was extremely long.
Rooms: I would describe the area where all the rooms are as little villas. There are 14 total buildings (3 floors on each, not sure how many total rooms per building, maybe 24?) and they form a U. Building 1 is right next to the pool and on the beach, and buildings 1-6 are all closest to the beach, not all necessarily facing the beach (I believe all are PREFERRED rooms). Buildings 7-13 loop around and end around the lobby area, towards the back of the resort. Building 14 is right in the middle (not sure if there’s something different about it). We were in building 5, had an oceanfront and it was beautiful. We were literally RIGHT on the beach (no walk at all) – we opened the balcony door and heard the waves. It was amazing. The room itself was very clean and spacious. The furniture was somewhat dated but décor more modern. The cleaning staff comes twice a day – one to clean your room, and again later in the day for turn-down service. Beyond the normal, there was a mini-fridge, a safe, a shower with glass door (no tub), bide, and a jacuzzi on the balcony (which we never used – it was too hot and neighbors were too close! Ha). There was also a small “living room” with a couch, coffee table, and small round table to eat or do work on the computer.

Service – my oh my. What a WONDERFUL staff. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and always willing to help. Even if you just pass them around the resort, they will say hello. A special shoutout to:
- Luci (short for Lucero) – poolside waitress. She was SO friendly, always smiling, always making sure that we had enough drinks/water/anything. She took time to get to know us, and remembered everyone’s name! We love you Luci!
- Adriana A.B. (buffet hostess) – one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met! She was so personable and ALWAYS had a smile on her face. ALWAYS. As busy as she was, she always made time to talk to us. She seemed genuinely sad when we left – and we had only known her for a week! What a gem.
- Angel (buffet waiter) – same as Adriana. Really took time to get to know who we were, where we came from, and was always extremely accommodating, whether there were 2 of us or 10 eating together for dinner.
- Lumi (lobby bartender) – amazing service, always popped in just at the right moment to refill our glasses  And always remembered what drinks we all had, even if there were 8 different ones!
Entertainment: splendid. Good poolside music and activities. Not too “in your face”, but enough activities (volleyball, games and competitions, Spanish lessons, dance lessons, etc.) We only saw one show but they offered them every night.

Spa/salon: I got my make-up and hair done for my wedding by sweet Perla. I told her how I wanted it, and showed her pictures, and she did EXACTLY what I wanted. I was so happy with my hair and make-up. She made me look like a million bucks! And, she knew how nervous/anxious I was on my wedding day and really calmed me down with a warm neck pillow, a little massage with some oils, and some chlorophyll water.
My husband and I also got a couple’s Swedish massage, which started with an hour in the hydrotherapy room (sauna, steam room, water-pressure pool, foot massage pool, warm pool to open pores, cold pool to close). The hydrotherapy was great, as was the 50-minute Swedish couple’s massage. Extremely relaxing.

WEDDING SERVICES: I want to write a separate review on the wedding, but it was PHENOMENAL! Huge thanks to Juan Carlos, our coordinator, Ana, our photographer, and DJ Frank! Our wedding was everything we wished for and more! It was the best day of my life, and all of the guests said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to!

CONS:
- Pool chairs – there seem to be A LOT, but in comparison to the number of guests, I don’t think there are enough. You have to get to the pool very early (7am) to get a chair, and possibly earlier if you want chairs for a group of people and under an umbrella.
- Restaurant wait times – we only went to restaurants 3 times (as opposed to the buffet) because the wait time for the FOOD was so slow. There were times when we were waiting for 30+ minutes for our main course, and that was after we finished appetizers/first course. It was odd because the restaurants were not full by any means!
- VIP service representatives. I’m sorry – I know that it’s their job, but they were VERY annoying. Every time I passed by, to go to the bathroom, to check something at the front desk, they’d try to chat up a conversation and sell me something else. Very annoying when I’m just there to relax. We had already paid however many thousands to stay at the resort plus our wedding – the last thing I wanted on my vacation was to be given a sales pitch every day.

I would HIGHLY recommend this resort, especially if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation AT a resort. If you’re looking to go site-seeing and to Cancun or Playa del Carmen, you’re not especially close so you may prefer something closer to one of those cities. But we barely left the resort, and quite frankly, didn’t feel the need to! There’s enough to do, see, and enjoy right at the resort. We can’t wait to go back for our anniversary!

My husband and I just returned to London yesterday from staying here for 12 nights for our honeymoon. I could not recommend a better resort, it is absolutely beautiful.

It took around 40 mins to get to the resort from the airport (including a stop off at another hotel). We were greeted with cocktails and our luggage was taken to our room by the helpful concierges. The room had a great air con system, after being out all day it was such a relief to go into the cool rooms, which were cleaned beautifully by the lovely maids-our maid Manuela was so friendly and helpful despite the mess we always made in an effort to rush out to enjoy the resort everyday! The rooms also had mini bars which were also topped up daily with soft drinks and Corona daily. The beds were literally the most comfortable things we have ever slept in. The room service was great, free, 24 hours and they NEVER turned up late. We had to order breakfast to at 6am once as we were going on an early excursion and the waiter arrived at 5.55 with a huge smile on his face. It was so lovely and they have lots of options too.

The location of the resort is perfect as it is only around 20-35 minutes away from Cancun and theme parks such Xel-ha, Xplor, Xoximilco and other amazing landmarks. (3 hours away from Chichen Itza though, but still a great location). There is also an interactive zoo called CrocoCun nearby (5 min drive away) which was great fun. The resort is a smaller one than most so it never got overcrowded, and even though there were children about it was never overwhelming as they have their own areas to swim and play in.

The Entertainment team-(especially Miguel and Dilan) were absolutely incredible, they really made our holiday even more fun, actually took the time to get to know the visitors, remembered our names and where we were from, encouraged everyone to get involved with the beach volleyball, pool volleyball and other games, always reminded us of events going on in the evening such as the fire show (which was really good) and were always at 110% energy! They made our trip even better.

All the staff members including maids, waiters, waitresses and the spa staff were all so friendly and extremely helpful. If anyone saw you waiting in the lobby or by the pool they'd ask if we needed any drinks or anything, and when we thanked them they would always say 'it's a pleasure to serve you'. They literally make you feel like royalty, and always have a smile on their faces.

The taxi service from the resort was very organised and the concierges were very helpful in finding out where you needed to go and how much it would cost to get there etc. We felt very safe going in the taxi's from the resort as they take down a note of when we are leaving and where we are going.

The Spa was beautiful. Quiet and had some really relaxing treatments available. We had two complementary Swedish couples massages as part of our honeymoon package and they were so relaxing that we fell asleep. We also used the hydrotherapy area which had a cold and hot fresh water pool, and a whirlpool/jacuzzi pool which was very refreshing. There was also a sauna and steam room and lots of treatment options, but we found the spa treatments to be quite expensive for our budget.

The only downside to staying at this resort was the beach. I was so upset to find that we couldn't actually swim in the water as the beach was so clogged up with seaweed. That being said, the pool made up for it and we were still able to do some of the free water non motorised water activities such as kayaking in the sea.

Overall we would give this resort 15 of 10 if we could. It exceeded our expectations and we would love to come back again. Would DEFINITELY recommend.

Thank you!!!

I just spent 4 wonderful days at the Now Sapphire resort. I did not want to leave! A group of family and friends went for my niece's wedding. The wedding was beautiful and the resort was beautiful. The bed and pillow were the most comfortable I ever slept on while on vacation, even better than the Ritz-Carlton.

The staff was very friendly and kept the place very clean. You always see someone sweeping the floors and workers raking the beach. The wait staff was exceptional at the French restaurant Paramour and the Mexican restaurant Fresco, and at the buffet Alberto and Natividad were lots of fun. I found the drinks at the bars a little weak, but that was ok since we pretty much drank all day without getting wasted, and it kept us from getting dehydrated, while keeping a little buzz.

The weather was hot, but we had a great breeze on the beach that made sitting under the umbrellas so relaxing and comfortable. Everyone ranging in age from 7 - 80 enjoyed the main pool with the swim up bar and the activities. We enjoyed the hydrotherapy at the spa which was an hour and you need to make reservations. It included a sauna, steam room, warm pool, hot pool, and cold pool.

The resort has plenty to keep you busy, between pools, beach, bars, entertainment, restaurants, and kid's activities, and if you want to go on excursions, there are many offerings available. Our group enjoyed a catamaran trip with snorkeling, swimming, lunch, and drinks.

It was a lovely trip, and we will definitely go back to the same resort again! And it was a perfect place for a destination wedding.

(I'm sorry in advance for the lengthy review. I want to give the full credit that’s due…)

Vacationed: March 26 thru April 2, 2017
Family of 5
Weather: 85 degrees and sunny all 7 days. No rain!

I need to say that we were a bit apprehensive vacationing over spring break as we typically head down to the Cancun/Rivera Maya area in November to avoid the "chaos". Well, we were pleasantly surprised! No chaos!!! From earlier reviewers, it sounds like there were a couple of rowdy groups of kids earlier in the month but they all must have left prior to us arriving as our week was all that we hoped it would be. Relaxing!!!

Upon first arriving at the resort, we were welcomed and while it took a bit longer to receive our "welcome beverage" than expected, it still arrived which is always welcomed after traveling for hours. Traveling with a family of 5 (Wife plus 3 kids: 12, 13 and 16), we had to book 2 rooms as Now Sapphire can only have up to 4 people per room. Upon check in, we upgraded from "tropical JR suite" to "beachfront preferred club" which was well worth the cost! The resort is what I’d consider perfect size and laid out beautifully as no building is far from the action but I wanted a beachfront experience as long as it was available. The beach/ocean view rooms all have hot-tubs on the deck/balcony and is just a few short steps away from the ocean! The rooms on the back-side of ocean view buildings do not have a hot-tub and I believe the decks were a bit smaller but are equally beautiful otherwise... We had rooms in building #1 (room numbers 120+124) and were great! I feel it was the best location on property for us as we were close to the pool/bars/lobby and yet had the beauty of the ocean to look at. (BTW: Our kids were in room #124 which was on the back side of the building facing the Explorer's Club. This had its own perks as well such as privacy and stayed dark in the morning for the sleepy teenagers).

Each room offered a real bathroom! Beautiful tub/shower combo, toilet, bidet (for the ladies ), sink AND a door that closed! Other resorts we've stayed at had a frosted glass, swinging door that offered about 80% privacy so this was a huge improvement! The beds were comfy and ALWAYS smelled fresh! There are all the standard features you’d expect at these resorts such as: TV, mini-fridge (stocked daily), safe, hair-drier, closet, dresser/shelves for storage. Oh yeah, if you’ve ever stayed somewhere tropical where you can’t ever seem to get stuff to dry, each room has a ceiling fan which was awesome!!!! While our A/C units worked well, we also had the fans running by day which really kept the place comfortable!

The beach is sugary-white sand that is so soft compared to other locations we’ve stayed at. The seaweed does continually wash up as others have mentioned but I need to give the Now and Dreams resort brands credit, THEY DO THE BEST at hauling it off constantly as it was never an issue for us. The ocean floor in front of the resort is all sand and easy to get in and out but if you are going there expecting to snorkel from this beach, you won’t see much as it seemed to be stirred up all 7 days we were there. That said, Santos found us on the beach and hooked us up for a 60-minute snorkel trip that picked us up by boat on our beach and ran us 10 minutes out to the reef which was awesome! We tend to like ½ day excursions so this was great as we were only off the resort property for about 2 hours and saw all the fish/coral we needed to satisfy the “snorkel urge”. The guides were great! Santos even noticed that our kids got a bit too much sun the day before and even sold us really cool swim shirts for $15USD each which we feel was a great deal! Thank you Santos! If you feel like walking, you can take the beach to Puerto Morelos. It’s a hike but can be done. Their beaches offered crystal clear water so carry your mask and snorkel if you’d like. One thing to know before leaving, if you head south towards Puerto Morelos, you will eventually walk past Desire Pearl, a “clothing optional” resort so just be prepared. That was a surprise when my 13-yr old son and I came upon it and saw more than either of us expected. (A lot more…Really… A LOT MORE). You are free to walk the beach to town but again, just plan on explaining to your kids what those naked people are doing on the balcony, swings or cabanas, etc.

The pool at Now Sapphire is beautiful! Lots of space to roam and with concrete lounge chairs in the shallow areas, we found our hangout by day! It would have been nice to have a hot-tub like one of their sister properties as it’s a great place to hang out by late afternoon but not a deal breaker. We loved the music pool-side and there was always staff walking around looking to refill anyone’s drink when needed (thanks Angel!). One tip though, while there seems to be many lounge chairs around the pool area, they get taken quickly. We would go out and reserve 2 chairs by 6:50am if we wanted a spot to hang by the day. We did this on the days we wanted to be by the ocean as well. That said, we often saw families reserve chairs for their entire group by the pool and then go to the ocean and reserve them there as well. Kind of rude when you realize that you are holding chairs that for most of the day, you probably aren’t in them at all. Shame on those who do that.

Walking around the resort, there are trails everywhere. Large trails that go around the outer perimeter as well as narrow, more natural trails that cut between buildings and can act as shortcuts to where you are trying to go. Both are equally beautiful and offer lots to see. If you are lucky, you’ll see a family of “Coatimundis” (looks like a lemur). We found staff feeding them peanut M+M’s at the back corner of the resort which they loved! Fun creatures to watch and definitely something that we don’t see in northern IL, USA.

The Entertainment Team Members were great! Our family likes to watch rather than participate in these games and their crew respected that. That said, Edgar and Dillan did a great job at keeping guests engaged and having fun no matter what game was going on. All activities seemed to be pool-side other than the daily bike tour which leaves the resort at 9am to go into downtown Puerto Morelos which is well worth the ride. Tip: get to the bike location about 20 minutes early to ensure a spot on the tour as they have limited number of bikes.

The restaurants were nice but after staying at 5 all-inclusive resorts over the past 5 years, they all tend to be about the same to me other than the atmosphere. The kids loved Lemongrass (Asian) while my wife and simply enjoyed going to the Market Café. No matter where we went, the food was good. I simply like being able to go to the buffet (Market Café) where you can get a variety of food without the wait and head back out to the pools/entertainment that was happening each evening. I will say that we do have our favorite servers at the Market Café, Moises and Louis. These guys rock! Have Moises serve you and your kids a glass of “marijuana juice” with your morning breakfast. It’s only green juice but the kids will get a kick out of it and drink it expecting something magical to happen while downing something that’s good for them! Thanks Moises!!!

We took advantage of the hydro-therapy spa treatment a few of the days that were included in the Preferred Club package which was a good way to relax and start off the day right! Nothing like going from a sauna to a steam room to a jetted pool to a leg bath to a hot-tub and finish off in a cold-water tub. Well, some of us ended it at the hot tub…

Each night, the resort has different events to offer. Magicians, live bands, circus shows, etc. Most were good. Not fantastic but worth the 45 minutes of sitting in their theater. Our favorite was the comedian. (When we were told by our lunch server what the show was going to be, all I heard was “Chlamydia” which got my attention. He was pronouncing it like “Com-e-dia”. I’m glad it was just me not understanding rather than a show showcasing an STD. Ha-ha! The comedian was kind of uncomfortable to watch at first but he did a great job by reeling you into his act and ends with a skit that had tears rolling down our faces from laughter! Great times! There was a “street-market” on 2 evenings which is always fun. “Cheaper than Wal-Mart” and “almost free” are 2 common phrases heard. Don’t feel bad haggling as 30-35% off seems to be the average discount you can end up walking away with your prized purchase.

The resort grounds were well maintained and manicured. The grounds crew were always keeping everything trimmed and picked up and never hesitated to smile and say “Ola” in passing. Actually, the entire staff from housekeeping to servers to groundskeepers at NOW seemed to enjoy their jobs and were eager to engage in conversation that seemed the most genuine of all the resorts we’ve stayed at. Whenever we looked lost, someone jumped in to see what they could do to help. If we needed something, the staff was more than willing to step up to the plate and help. For that, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! You all made our trip one of our most memorable and favorite trips as a family ever!

For those who are adventuresome, take a trip to Playa del Carmen for an evening. You’ll need a cab or take the hotel bus and is about 30 minutes away. Tons of shopping, people watching, food to eat. Very friendly and safe! At the recommendation of our driver from the airport (Sergio), we ate dinner at Alux which is located underground in a natural cave! Can’t say you do that every day. Food was good but the ambiance was awesome!

In the end, this was truly a great trip and I’d definitely recommend this resort for anyone who is looking for family as well as a couple’s getaway!
