I want everyone that gave this resort a bad review to do me a HUGE favor....take your referred hand and take the silver spoon out of your mouth! I don't get it!!!! My husband and I just came back from a week long vacation at NOW Sapphire (our first kidless vacation) and we experienced not ONE problem. I have no idea what people expect these days. A bunch of primadonna's and buttholes....get over yourselves! Just be grateful your able to afford to take a vacation and get away! This is by far the best resort I've stayed at and I've been to several places in the carribbean. I was terrified and didn't know what to expect after reading all the horrible reviews. So glad I stuck it out and didn't change my resort location! We loved NOW Sapphire and will be recommending it to friends and family. No language barrier issues, the staff was friendly, service was GREAT as was the food (it was NOT greasy and there was plenty of variety), the seaweed is removed from the beach nearly every hour by a tractor and the entertainment was perfect. If you want crazy entertainment all hours of the night, stay in the hotel zone in Cancun. The Riviera Maya is for Rest and Relexation! There were children there but I hardly noticed them and the parents did a good job making sure they behaved and were quiet. Again, this was our first kidless vacation and we weren't worried about this resort being family friendly. There are places to go if that's an issue. We enjoyed our short trip into the town of Puerto Morelos. Not one time did I ever feel unsafe! Just use your common sense and you'll be fine. I feel more uncomfortable in the parking lot at my local Walmart! Thanks for a great vacation!

I got married at Now Sapphire on July 12th, but stayed at the resort for a total of 6 nights. It was perfect.

I first saw the property in 2014 and the moment we arrived for our tour, I told my hubs that I want to get married here. It was a great decision.

First the resort:
The grounds are stunning. Yes, there was a lot of seaweed but staff is constantly cleaning it up. The beach is totally fine for lounging. We thought the food was good, especially for an all inclusive but as always, some restaurants were better than others. LOVED the French place. The japanese hibatchi was also very good but you need to make reservations for that - do so as soon as you check in. We were in preferred club so we could go to Cibu for breakfast (preferred club only) or the main buffet. Cibu was nice because there were less people but the food wasn't any better than the main restaurant. Burgers at the pool bar are delicious. I can't figure out what they put in them but they're very different and really tasty. We also did a romantic beach dinner that was delicious.

We were upgraded to a preferred club oceanview. The room had a jacuzzi on the balcony which was really nice. The room was a nice size and kept up very well. We were in building 6 which I liked - far enough away from the main pool but not too far that it takes forever to get back. That said, my tip is to request that you not be in buildings 10,11 or 12. They butt up against the parking lot of the next resort and the hotel didn't do the greatest job separating it.

The main pool is huge, but there's so many places to go that unless you're right at the bar it never felt crowded. The preferred pool was really nice and relaxing. We only went once though.

The spa is great too. I had two massages there. I also did a hair trial for my wedding, then actual hair and makeup the day of. My makeup was great. My hair was nice. I had shown the girl a picture of how I wanted it and she didn't get it exactly right. But it wasn't a huge deal.

Now my wedding..... AMAZING!!! We had the ceremony and reception at the tequila terrace. Juan Carlos is an incredible wedding coordinator. I exchanged emails with him 91 times over the course of the year and he was always very helpful and nice. We met with him for about 2 hours the day after arrival and did a walk through of everything - we brought a ton of stuff. Everything he did was absolutely perfect. He even thought to put a card box out (we didn't buy one b/c we didn't expect gifts) and when our placecard holders didn't work out, he came up with something different that was still great. Everything ran smoothly. If there was a mistake, I certainly didn't notice it. He surprised us that night when we came home to a rose petal turndown with champagne and chocolate. He's a really great guy who knows his stuff.

That said, all of the staff are terrific. They do everything 'with a pleasure.' You can't help but smile.

You'll have a great experience here. And if you're a bride, try your best not to worry. You're in excellent hands.

The resort was very nice but it bothered us that they ran out of towels at 10:00 am and did not have any more for several hours. They basically do not have enough pool towels nor pool and beach chairs. So if you want this you must go and snatch one at 8:00 am. This puts pressure on us when we are supposed to be relaxing. For an expensive resort Hyatt should purchase 1000- 2000 more towels. They can afford it. We found the activities to be a bit boring. The pool is beautiful and the beach average - compared to those further down the coast. The staff were super friendly and the food was delicious - especially in buffet. Also free parking for our rental car. All and all we had a nice stay.

I have been fortunate enough to stay several times in the Rivera Maya area. We usually stay at a different resort each time we return to lovely Mexico, this time we decided to stay at Now Sapphire. We were pleasantly surprised. It had everything that we we looking for. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a warm smile and a nice welcome drink. The resort is very open and has a zen feel. There are two pools, the main pool is a family pool quite large, there is also an adult pool which we did not go since we had our son with us. There are plenty of lounge chairs, swim up bar and plenty of places for shade. The room was quite nice with a tropical view, some resorts say tropical view and your view is a parking lot or another hotel in construction. There are several small buildings with greenery surrounding them. There were several restaurant options with no reservations required, at peak times you would get a pager and had a small wait , this would give us time for a pre- drink in the lobby bar. There was usually live music at the bar and usually another event in the disco. The food options were excellent with plenty of variety. The service was excellent at the restaurant , lobby bar, swim up bar and the room had a nice turndown service. It also had a small gym and yoga given by a professional yoga instructor. The beach was quite large and nice waves. We had an excellent time and would highly recommend this hotel for couples or families.

My husband and I traveled to the NOW Sapphire from 10/27-11/3. What a beautiful resort! We realized it was a little older property and was going through some renovation but the overall effect was stunning! The landscaping is beautiful and all established so it gives the tropical feeling that we travel to that area of Mexico for! The lobby is gorgeous-I love the thatched roof and open air. If we wanted to see glass and shiny and be enclosed we would go to somewhere in a big city. There are some tiny little cosmetic issues still to be addressed but I understand they are next on the list after the room renovations are done. We have been to the Cancun/Riviera Maya area 6 other times-we have always stayed in an at least 5 apple. star. dot whatever rating a particular travel company rates them -The resort was definitely one of our favorites! Each resort has it's strong and weak points it just comes down to what is important to you. On this trip we were assigned a ground floor room that had a garden view which was basically thick vegetation. A room view wasn't important to us on this trip- we have had room with views before and we spend so little time in the room. I am an early riser and we were in building one so the beach was literally steps from our door. I just walked out-turned left and had a beautiful walk on the beach every morning as the sun rose! Upon arrival our room was a little musty but they don't run the air in the rooms when they aren't occupied so after a little while of the air conditioning running we didn't notice an odor for the rest of the week. We did have one of the renovated rooms with a king bed that was very comfortable. This is an older resort so it did not have the giant walk-in shower that some of the newer ones do-it is a normal tub/shower combo so if having a shower big enough for two is important to you-be advised. Our maid service was good and the mini bar and frig were restocked daily--We are diet coke drinkers so we just left a note and they removed the regular soda and just left diet coke for us daily.
The pools are absolutely beautiful- the pool bar was staffed by some fun bartenders. We were more relaxed on this trip but people seemed to have fun with the entertainment staff. There weren't a lot of people at the hotel being it was off season so it seemed like some of the activities didn't take place because of a lack of participants. From what I understand, this is a fairly new entertainment staff as well as new management- as time goes on I sure they will have things running smoothly. The shows at night were a fun and were on par with shows we have seen at other resorts.
There is a gym- that is one area that is definitely in need of renovation but it worked.
The spa is beautiful and open air. We had a wonderful massage for two-fabulous!
Most of the negativity I have seen from other reviews stems from food and service. As far as service goes-we thought it was excellent! There were a couple times at restaurants that we had to wait longer than usual and the usual wait time is longer than we are used to in the states. Again they are still in transition so are trying to learn the requirements of the new company. We have found this to be true at other resorts also. We always try to remember we are on vacation in practically paradise and where do we have to hurry to? We don''t have to get back to the babysitter or we don't have to beat the parking meter or we don't have to go to work early. Relax and enjoy the process of having a nice meal. Have another drink, they're included! Remember the cultures in different parts of the world aren't as uptight as North Americans. We went to Rome last year- if you want an experience of spending hours in a restaurant go there.
The food- again I felt it was on par with the other resorts. It always makes me smile when people complain about the Mexican restaurant. The mexican food at this resort was our favorite- we went to two Mexican buffets and and to the Mexican restaurant twice. I also ate guacamole and pico de gallo (salsa) for every lunch. People! You don't get authentic Mexican food at American chain tex/mex restaurants!!!! If that is what you are expecting Mexican food to be in Mexico you are going to be disappointed! I can't report on the Mediterranean or Asian restaurants because we didn't eat there. The French and the Grill were ok, again on par with other resorts. If you are looking for perfect gourmet food don't go to an all inclusive- go to a resort that has separate restaurants or where you have to go off property to pay for 5 star meals. A 5 star resort rating doesn't necessarily tell you the food will be five star comparable say to a downtown big city restaurant in the states. You have to take into consideration the price you usually pay for one of these vacations includes your flight, hotel per night, drinks and food. Subtract your flight price then average what you have left by the number of nights you stay. Subtract from each days price what you would pay for say a holiday inn say $100( you would definitely pay more than that for a room of this caliber at home), then count and subtract the number of drinks you drink a day . Would you be able to eat at a five star restaurant for two with what you have left? When you look at it that way I'd say the food is pretty good!!!!
The one negative thing we were surprised by was a timeshare type pitch as we checked in. We were definitely not interested and a strong no thank you ended it. We were not approached again but apparently other people were- again I think a firm no and not being intimidated would stop it.
We would return to this resort again in a heart beat! Educate yourself about whatever resort you choose (since you are on this site you have a start on your education)-take into consideration the motivation behind any bad reviews you read and RELAX and enjoy yourself- your vacation is what you make it!
P.S. Use the forums on trip advisor to ask questions there are a lot of knowledgeable people out there!
