We booked the Spa Suite for our mini wedding ceremony on June 20th and we were thrilled with the room, atmosphere and hospitality by Nick and Lise. The night before our wedding we enjoyed the hot tub and sauna for a little pre-wedding relaxation and on the day the upper and lower deck provided us with enough space to host our celebration. The view is spectacular! The bed is very comfortable and linens were fresh and smelt great! The suite has everything you could need and we will definitely be returning!

My husband and I spent two nights at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. Nick and Lise are friendly hosts, and Nick's breakfasts are fabulous (had Eggs Benny on my birthday). The suite is bright and comfortable, with a super luxurious bed. It's great to relax in the private hot tub in the evening, and to sit and enjoy the view from the deck during the day. We look forward to returning to At the Beach Retreat again.

This is our third time staying at The Beach Retreat. The views from the hot tub and deck are beautiful. The meals are excellent and Nick and Lise are just wonderful hosts. Will definitely be coming back again.

My girlfriend and I have been going here for seven years in a row. We come to celebrate life. We first planned on going to a different place every year, but after the first year we knew there wasn't a better place for us. My girlfriend loves the walks she gets in and I love the private sauna and the outside hot tub with a beautiful view looking at the water. I don't sleep well and I am in it at all times of the night and I still can't get over how peaceful it is. If I turn of the jets, you can't hear a thing and that is rare. The sunsets are stunning and the food, well I can't say enough about the food. Breakfast is handled with love and you can taste the love that went into making it!
The bed is so comfy and when you wake up, what a view you have. Our hosts Nick and Lise are in tune with you and your needs. We like privacy and we don't see them until they deliver breakfast, unless they are having an event and they are sure to bring us some of the food to sample! Last time we stayed there where a couple of weddings going on and what a beautiful place for a weding and what care goes into everything. I can't say enough about this place and can't wait until next year.

We were visiting a daughter and her family in Port Moody for a month and this local B&B fitted the bill. We couldn't have chosen a more perfect place - from the wonderful warm hospitality of our hosts Nick and Lise to the breath taking views of the Burrard Inlet through the picture window of our Imperial Suite and also from our private deck . We had the use of a wonderfully large living room and dining area. Attention to detail with all conveniences included plush dressing gowns and slippers, binoculars, telescope, a small fridge and the most comfortable king size bed ever. It did take us nearly an hour to visit another son in downtown Vancouver but it was a straightforward drive. Wildlife sightings included a bear crossing the road and a seal basking on the dock. We certainly hope to return to this little gem of a B&B.

We've stayed in the Spa Suite in many many occasions even though we live just 15mins away. The view is spectacular, the hosts are friendly and wonderful, the breakfast is ALWAYS good and the hot tub is always hot!! A spectacular B&B in a scenic location!!

Positives
Service fantastic. Much better than a hotel. Very private if you get the downstairs unit.
Views to die for across Port Moody. There is always something happening. A new ship loading, barges, boats etc
If you are observant there are seals and otters (daily) in the water. 2nd time we stayed there.
Negatives
Ceiling a bit low. No windows to open except in toilet. Limited kitchenette but much better than a hotel.

Response from Host_at_Beach, Owner at At The Beach Retreat
Responded Jul 26, 2016
So glad we could be of service. As an original seaside cottage the basement Spa suite does have limited ceiling height, and yes only the bathroom window opens with a screen but our two French Doors do open wide to the sea breeze and the other two picture windows offer great views. Unfortunately our mini kitchen is not allowed to have a stove, but we have tried to provide everything needed for short stays and small meal preparation. Thanks for the review, it is much appreciated.

We have stayed at The Beach Retreat several times over the past two year. This cottage style place feel so comfortable and homey that you immediately feel at ease. The waterfront location is fantastic. The upstairs Imperial suite give you a full view and the downstairs Spa Suite full privacy and access to sauna and hot tub. Either way, it is the owners that make your stay special. The scrumptious breakfast and the personal touch to make sure you are comfortable is what make it a holiday to remember. Nick and Lise make you feel welcome and share their home with you in a way no hotel could ever manage. We are so happy we had the chance to get to know them and we hope to spend many more mini holidays in Port Moody.

Stayed for nine days during the Winter Olympics. Our hosts, Nick and Lise, made the whole experience unforgettable with invaluable advice for getting around Vancouver and tailoring our breakfast schedule so that we could leave at the times convenient to us to get to the events. The breakfasts were plentiful with eggs, bacon, ham, yogurt, homemade muffins and turnovers, and fresh fruit daily. When we had an early departure, a bag of food "for the bus" would be awaiting us at the front door as we left. The bedroom was spacious, leaving us with plenty of room to spread out in spite of the largest king size bed that we've slept in. It was delightful to wake up to a view of Burrard Inlet out our picture window. The bathroom was large as well. We've had some hotel rooms in New York City just as large. While we didn't use public transportation, commuter rail is available just a few minutes drive away. Downtown Vancouver is about a 30 minute drive away. We would highly recommend this B & B for anyone wanting to stay in the Vancouver area.
