The rooms is very comfortable but not too big, for solo traveler in a superior room the stay is quite good , but if you are a couple I would suggest a bigger option.
The staff at the reception was really attentive and the service was excellent.
Very clean and nice hotel, great location close to anywhere. however, the "fitness center" is not exactly fit to the description due to the small space , if at all , there is 3 cardio Bicycle and no free weights, no space for yoga mat as well.
If you are looking only a place for a nice sleep and take a shower or a bath its indeed the hotel for you- many restaurants and coffeeshops all around , supermarkets 24/7 and a public transportation to everywhere in the city is walking accessible.
Its important to double check when booking if the city tax is included , because when checking out the hotel may charge you for each day separately.

I was in Barcellona for a lesson at EADA and I really suggest to book this hotel as it is really close.
The room was really nice and you can find small chocolate on you bed every day, plus a welcome with some cocoa powder sweets.

The Balmes hotel can be a good value, but you have to insist upon a quiet room. The staff is friendly, and the rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. The first time I stayed there I had a room at the end of the hallway facing the interior courtyard, and I had a nice stay. This trip I was assigned a room in the middle of the hallway facing the interior courtyard, and there were "party people" coming in between 2am and 3am every night, and I was awakened by their loud talking in the hallway every night. The has led me to rate the hotel as average. I would otherwise rate it as very good.
The breakfast in the hotel is good, but at 18 euros it is a bit expensive. There are several cafes/bakeries nearby where you can have excellent coffee and pastries for about 5 euros.
The hotel location is good and close ot public transit. The Hola Barcelona public transit card is a good idea if you're going to move about the city. Overall I can recommend that hotel with the caveat of insisting upon a quiet room if you are easily bothered by noise.

We arrived on Thursday evening about 10pm and we’re greeted by two members of staff who were very kind and helpful so it set the trip off to a good start. The room was stunning, very clean, modern, spacious and had a bath which was unexpected but an added bonus! The pool area looked really nice also but it wasn’t the weather for outdoor swimming unfortunately. The decor around the hotel was beautifully done and it had a really nice feel to it. We called down to reception a couple of times and on both occasions the response time was very quick and they helped with our requests. The only down fall was the rooms around us brought back guests one night who weren’t staying in the hotel and they were drinking and playing music in the corridor early hours of the morning and the guests didn’t get asked to leave so it disturbed our sleep. Fantastic location close to public transport, restaurants and shops but far enough from the tourist hotspots if you look for a quieter place. The rooms are really nice and I loved the bathroom amenities from The White Company. My room had a rain shower over the bathtub which I really enjoyed. Also, considering I had a street view, it was great that with the windows closed you couldn’t hear a thing. The swimming pool is a great feature if you’re travelling in summer. Staff are super friendly and always happy to help. The downside of my stay was the less than satisfactory WiFi and coming back at 4 pm and finding out that my room hadn’t been cleaned yet.

What a GORGEOUS little boutique hotel!
My room was crazy cheap; £52 & I felt like I was having the experience of a £400 per night room.
If you want to impress a new partner for a wkd break, or treat Mum to a lil'deserved jaunt, but don't want to break the bank: choose Balmes.
Staff super friendly, especially manager Jorge, & Julio who went out his way (free coffee etc) to ensure i was looked after when the steam room failed to work.
I was a bit of an a-hole about an error i made/hotels.com double bkg debacle but they still treated me with respect & assisted with refund.
Only sad the 2 men on mon 10/11th at midnight didnt try & help me more with my quest to watch Oscars live: it's my Wimbledon,& i was desperate to watch Joaquin win. I told them i wld pay whatever, & cld they at least help me get Spanish pay for view on my phone, but they were reluctant to even try to help, despite my explaining how much it meant to me. This was dissappointing after the concierge standard set earlier by their colleague Julio.
Follow not_quite_adult: travel/mental health vlog.

The hotel is much beter in real life than what you get to see on the pictures! An ideal location, 20 min from the airport, walking distance to the old center and even the sea if you like to walk, classy shopping around the corner, in the middle of a vibrant area with amazing restaurants (not the loud/touristic area!). I loved the style of the hotel, nice lobby, nice smell and interesting art pieces. The room was ideal, good size, light&bright, big window, space to leave my luggage open 'cause I didn't want to unpack for such a short stay, big comfy bed and a great shower in a good sized bathroom.

Everything looks great here but some fundamental issues need addressing before I would stay again. Walls are thin and floors are not carpeted so any noise travels from adjacent rooms, rooms above and also from reception (we were on floor 1). Guests coming and going didn’t make for a decent nights sleep due to this.
The hotel provide various items, slippers, robes, showers caps etc but no tea / coffee making facilities in the room, which I think to most would be more useful.
The only mirror in the room was in the bathroom, which was impractical to use once it was steamed up by the shower and the taps were in the way of the shower do not a comfortable experience either.
We booked with love holidays and there were lots of incorrect info on their website about the hotel facilities, not the Balmes fault necessarily but still made for disappointment when we found out there was no indoor pool, the jacuzzi could only be used by one room, and check in was an hour later than stated.
Positives are it’s great central location to access all the city has to offer if you can sleep through anything!

Stayed at Hotel Balmes for six nights, it is a comfortable hotel, convenient for many popular destinations in Barcelona. There is a pool which I tried to use it each day of my stay but it was fully occupied, as were the chairs and sun-beds. The reception staff are charming and helpful, Mercedes was particularly agreeable and helped us with directions, information and restaurant recommendations.
The 'superior rooms' are small but comfortable, the showers adequate, can be a little noisy at the front of the hotel but at least one can see the sky and watch the world go by, our's had a balcony which was an added bonus.
The only big problem is the internet, just not good enough. Good wi-fi and a high speed connection is no longer an extra but as essential as electricity and a water supply in a modern hotel.
If the internet connectivity were to improve, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will certainly consider revisiting in future.

- no daylight in superior double room rate approx £150 / night: room on 1st floor, facing the wall and can’t even see the sky from the window. This is not acceptable from a 4* hotel
- loud: we got woken up number of times each night by noise from guests in the other rooms
We complained about lack of daylight after the first night & they did offer to move us to a different room however the new room was not ready and we would need to pack up and leave our bags to take this option. We decided not to waste our short trip on this. They did not offer any other options.
The hotel should make it very clear that the room has no daylight and offer a discount when such room is provided. I spoke to a friend living in Barcelona and they validated that rooms facing a wall are not uncommon however a lower price is typically offered.

I'm not certain. I suggest that you email the hotel directly. I hope you choose to stay at Hotel Balmes, it really is a nice hotel.
We arrived late at night so we got a taxi, but there is a good metro service if you prefer.
