The best new Volkswagen models coming by 2025: all you need to know

Car changing is a big deal
Volkswagen has a strong focus on its electric ID cars at the moment, and over the next few years you can expect to see more of these models debut. Here’s a look ahead at what you can expect to see from VW between now and 2025.

New Volkswagen California
Fans of a VW camper will be pleased to see the return of the California. It’s based on the Volkswagen Multivan, and it’ll get plenty of new technology to make your camping trips that bit more comfortable.
There is a removable touchscreen in the back to control the climate and other functions around the van, and an all-electric version based on the Volkswagen ID Buzz is also on the cards.
For now though, you’ll have to make do with the 1.4-litre plug-in hybrid engine you’ll find in the standard Multivan, meaning you should be able to do around 30 miles on electric power alone. Order books will open in June this year.
New Volkswagen ID Buzz GTX
If you’re after an EV to haul the family around, but are still seeking hot hatch thrills, the new Volkswagen ID Buzz GTX may scratch that itch. It’s packing a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive and 340hp.
As a result this big bus will do 0-60mph in just 6.5 seconds, which is only slightly slower than the Golf GTI. You also get some sporty styling touches, including larger wheels and new bumpers.
Not only does the GTX get added performance, it marks the launch of the long-wheelbase ID Buzz. This is the first time the car has been offered with either six or seven seats, meaning you can show off your speedy MPV to more people.
New Volkswagen ID7 GTX
Sitting on the same 340hp dual-motor setup as the ID Buzz GTX is the new Volkswagen ID7 Tourer GTX. This fast wagon provides an alternative to the BMW i5 Touring, although VW hasn’t confirmed a 0-60mph time for this car just yet.
To help make this sporty model stand out, you have some larger alloy wheels than the standard car and more aggressive-looking front and rear bumpers. The cabin is also slightly tweaked with some body-hugging sports seats.
Order books for the new ID7 GTX Tourer are expected to open by the end of this year, however you can expect to pay a healthy premium over the £52,000 standard car.
New Volkswagen ID3 GTX
The facelifted Volkswagen ID3 has been joined by a sporty GTX model as well, and it looks like a pretty exciting proposition. You get a 326hp electric motor powering the rear wheels, so this electric hatchback may be capable of some tail-out action through the corners.
To make this electric hot hatch more fun to drive than the standard ID3, the suspension has been lowered by 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear, and you can get a performance pack which includes a sport mode to stiffen up the suspension.
You get the usual array of sporty styling upgrades over the standard ID3, including new alloy wheels and a more aggressive-looking bodykit. Step inside and you’ll notice the sports seats, as well as a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
New Volkswagen Golf R
The ever-popular Volkswagen Golf has been given a facelift, and the flagship R model is set to get similar treatment by the end of the year. It’s been spotted testing on the Nurburgring a few times now during development testing, and you can make out a few of the changes.
These spy shots show a car which is wearing next-to-no camouflage, so you can tell that the exterior design will stay mostly the same. The eagle-eyed may spot the slightly slimmer headlights and updated bumper, but it seems like that’s your lot.
Interior-wise expect a similarly subtle makeover. The standard Golf is now available with up to a 12.9-inch touchscreen, so expect to see the same system in the R. Expect to see some new interior trim options as well.

New Volkswagen Tayron
There won’t be a seven-seater AllSpace version of the new Volkswagen Tiguan, it’s instead being replaced with an all-new model called the Tayron. This new Kia Sorento alternative has been spotted testing, and it looks as though it’ll share a lot of the Tiguan’s styling.
Volkswagen has used some clever camouflage to make this car look like the old Tiguan, however it pulled the same trick when testing the new Tiguan so expect to see similar styling under that wrap. The main difference is the added length to accommodate that extra row of seats.
You can also expect to see a very similar interior to the new Tiguan, however you’ll have to wait until early 2025 for a full reveal of this SUV.
New Volkswagen T-Roc
The Volkswagen T-Roc is almost as popular as the iconic Golf in terms of sales, and the small UV will enter its second generation in 2025. This Hyundai Kona alternative has been spotted testing by Carwow’s spy photographers, and it looks like it’s getting an all-new design.
Not much is known about the new T-Roc in terms of specs, however you can expect to see similar interior technology to the new VW Golf, along with the same range of engines as that car.
New Volkswagen ID. 2all
This is the Volkswagen ID. 2all concept, and it’s a new electric concept which will cost less than £22,000 when it goes on sale in 2025.
It’s around the same size as a Golf and has up to 280 miles of range, as well as a 226hp electric motor powering the front wheels which can send it from 0-60mph in under 7.0-seconds. Inside there is an all-new infotainment system, as well as a massive boot which is around 90 litres bigger than the one in the Golf.
Design-wise you have slim LED headlights up front with a light bar across the bonnet, 20-inch alloy wheels and a pretty large roof spoiler at the back.
New Volkswagen ID. GTI
In addition to the ID. 2all, Volkswagen has revealed a sporty GTI version. The ID. GTI has a pretty similar design to the standard car, however it has a more sporty-looking bodykit with snazzy new alloy wheels.
While unconfirmed, this electric hot hatch could have around 320hp. This would put it in line with today’s Golf R, which should make for some rapid performance.
You can expect this car to make a debut in 2025, just after the ID.2 all. Price-wise a tag of around £25,000 seems likely.
