The Audi RS6 e-tron has been spotted out and about during development testing, and it has the potential to offer impressive performance.

  • New Audi RS6 e-tron spotted
  • Hot electric saloon car
  • Could have around 800hp
  • Interior design could be inspired by the Q6 e-tron
  • Full reveal expected next year

The new Audi A6 e-tron is just around the corner, but the hot RS6 is a little bit further away right now. That said, it’s just been spotted testing wearing a reasonably thin disguise.

This is your best look at the RS6 e-tron since Carwow’s exclusive renders from last year. It’ll share parts under the skin with the Porsche Macan EV, however it could have a lot more power than that car.

New Audi RS6 e-tron design

Audi RS6 e-tron exclusive render

The Carwow team had a go at rendering the new Audi RS6 e-tron last year – albeit in estate form – based on the A6 e-tron concept. These exclusive images give you a pretty good idea of what the car will look like, but now the real thing has been spotted out and about during development testing.

New Audi RS6 e-tron front

Starting up front you can see a more aggressive-looking lower bumper poking out of the wrap. It has much larger lower air intake than the standard car, and there are some sporty-looking fins off to the side.

New Audi RS6 e-tron side

There’s not much to see down the side of the car other than the new alloy wheels. The all-black look they’re sporting now is likely to be just for development purposes, expect to see a diamond-cut finish on the final car. This prototype also has the same camera door mirrors as the Q8 e-tron.

New Audi RS6 e-tron rear

That full-width light bar at the rear has a slightly more complex shape compared to our original renders, with an arrow shape at each end which mimics the e-tron GT. You can also see the massive diffuser in the lower bumper.

New Audi RS6 e-tron motors and performance

The new Audi RS6 e-tron will share parts with the Porsche Macan EV, although it could have even more power than that car. The Macan Turbo has 639hp when it’s in launch mode, which is only 9hp more than the current RS6 Avant.

New Audi RS6 e-tron front

The added weight of EV batteries means the new RS6 e-tron will need a lot more power than this to make it quicker than the old car, and Audi has confirmed in the past that this collection of parts is capable of producing as much power as the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

New Audi RS6 e-tron rear lights

It confirmed this a year or so ago, before the new Taycan Turbo S was revealed. The old car had 761hp. This isn’t as much as the bonkers Audi RS e-tron GT Performance, that car has a whopping 925hp, but with 800hp 0-60mph should be easily achievable in under 3.0 seconds.

New Audi RS6 e-tron interior

There are no pictures of the Audi RS6 or the A6 e-tron’s interior, however you can turn to the new Q6 e-tron SUV for an idea of what the cabin will look like.

Expect a similar interior design to the Q6 e-tron

This means you can expect to see a 14.5-inch infotainment screen and an 11.9-inch digital driver’s display behind one curved sheet of glass, as well as an optional passenger display. The RS6 e-tron will almost certainly get some sporty bucket seats as well.

When can I buy the new Audi RS6 e-tron?

The standard Audi A6 e-tron is coming very soon, with a reveal expected in the coming weeks. The hot RS6 isn’t expected until next year though, when you can bet it’ll fetch close to a six-figure price tag.
