Founder and CEO, Coldr, an award-winning PR and marketing consultancy | PR Week Powerbook 2024 | Trustee, RNIB | Founder, UK Black Comms Network | Campaign Entrepreneur of the Year 2024

Introducing Dr. Lake👩🏾🎓 Yesterday was just WOW! It was an honor to be recognised as the first Honorary Fellow of PR and communications at University of the Arts London To think, I almost quit in year 2 due to feeling like an outsider and not understanding PR, to now celebrating 20 years in the field. And whilst the merits of a degree in creative arts, marketing and PR are continually debated, I believe my degree pimped my steps into a long lasting career. The theory, the practice (work experience was vital), but crucially my degree forced me to understand the world beyond my experience and grounded my understanding of popular culture, which is absolutely vital in my line of work. When I addressed the graduates during my speech, I shared four principles that keep me consistent: 👉🏾 Having a healthy curiosity for how people live, love work and play 👉🏾 Embracing continuous learning, I’ll forever be a student of life 👉🏾 Understanding that surprises, both challenging and delightful, are inevitable 👉🏾 Knowing that creativity is the spice of life and the world would be a rather dull place without it I’m a perpetual student of marketing and PR, but I’m happy to have graduated from the feeling of not belonging - creativity needs us all ❤️ Thank you to London College of Communication, University of the Arts London London College of Communication, University of the Arts London and University of the Arts London for this incredible honor. I’m truly honoured to be honoured ❤️ #PR #Marketing #Creativity #UniversityOfTheArtsLondon #UALgrads2024
