Director of Services Strategy & HubSpot Certified Trainer at SmartBug Media | Building the Roadmap for HubSpot's #1 Partner Agency
We've all been there at industry events—stuck in small talk loops that never lead to meaningful connections. A little background info on who you are talking to gives context but if your time is limited, cut to the chase quicker. Here's my approach for diving into substantive conversations immediately. 🎯 My Three Go-To Questions to Kickstart Genuine Interactions: 1️⃣ "What's the most interesting project you're currently working on?" 2️⃣ "What's the biggest challenge facing your team right now?" 3️⃣ "What trends in our industry do you find most exciting or concerning?" By diving into these substantive questions, you'll able to maximize the time and quality of networking at events. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀?

Networking events are like Global village! When i was progressing to my professional phase of life, from my academic phase, I always thought these events were just events for all those Flashy corporations who had all the fancy clientele aka Big guns! However, once I began visiting these events, I realised they were gold mines ready to be explored!!! In my opinion, apart from all the business agendas, partnerships and meet-ups these events offer, here are a few other aspects that I have learned. - You get to meet people from different nationalities. - You gain knowledge of different technologies and sectors. - You gain confidence by talking to other people around you. - You get a load of Souvenirs! (this one’s my favorite!) 😜 P.S. For the last one, don’t forget to visit a food expo! ;) Comment below if you know of any such events happening ⬇️ #networking #exhibition2024 #businessowners #productowners

Happy International Networking Week! (Feb. 4th - 10th) Take some time this week to reflect on the ways in which you develop your valuable network. How do you cultivate meaningful connections, foster collaboration, and unlock opportunities for long-term success? Don’t forget to maintain the vital connections within your network who have been essential to your current success (i.e. mentors and colleagues from your past). Reassessing your networking methods could carry some impactful benefits, including business growth, referral opportunities, enhanced visibility and credibility, brand promotion, and the creation of a supportive community. What better week to spend time on this than during International Networking Week! ➡ How do YOU plan to celebrate? Tell us in the comments!

I always kick off my networking workshops with this question… “How do you want people to feel when they interact with you?” Fired back at me are words such as; Inspired, comfortable, motivated, informed, empowered… All positive, powerful words that evoke a certain level of emotion and expression. When networking we want to leave a lasting impression - be memorable for the right reasons so that people; 1. Want to interact with us again. 2. Will recommend us to others. 3. Trust us enough to help them. 3 reasons why we love a good networking event: 1️⃣ It opens your eyes, ears and ideas to other industries that you may not know much about. 2️⃣ You learn about others' roles, challenges and successes. 3️⃣ You create professional connections that sometimes turn into unlikely friendships! We had such a great time celebrating our Deep Dive participants last month up on the Gold Coast and we can't wait to see what other event opportunities we can muster up in 2024 🙌 If you're looking for a sign to network more, make the new year your year! #businessnetworking #networkingevent #marketingnetwork #goldcoastbusiness
