Understanding mobile rates

A mobile rate is a special discounted rate that’s only visible when travellers use our app or access our website via a mobile browser. You can use mobile rates to increase your bookings from mobile devices by up to 30%.

The majority of reservations on our platform are made using mobile devices, so offering a mobile rate helps you tap into this potential. 

When you offer a mobile rate, a special badge appears next to your property in the search results, on your property page and during the booking process. You also get a strikethrough on your prices, which we've found helps to improve your conversion with mobile device users. Mobile rates are active throughout the year, and you can choose to block unlimited dates where they don't apply.

Mobile rates apply to all your rooms and rate plans by default, but you can also choose to limit it to certain rate plans strategically.

A mobile rate discount stacks with any Genius discounts you offer as well as basic deals, last-minute deals and early booker deals. However, mobile rates can’t be stacked with country rates, Getaway Deals, Early 2024 Deals, Late Escape Deals, Black Friday Deals and limited-time deals.


Setting your mobile rates

You can choose to offer a discount of at least 10% but for the best results, we recommend 15%. We’ll only offer this discount on our app, or both on our app and on our website.

By activating mobile rates on both our app and mobile website, you can reach 30% more potential guests compared to on the app alone. Targeting mobile users is more important than ever, since increasing numbers of travellers use mobile devices when both thinking ahead to future trips and booking spontaneously.


Activating mobile rates

If you don’t already have a mobile rate set up, you can quickly create one from the Opportunity Centre in the extranet, using our recommended settings. Or you can follow these steps to set up a custom mobile rate using your own choice of settings:

  1. Sign in to the extranet.
  2. Click on Promotions.
  3. Click on Choose new promotion.
  4. Click on Add promotion next to mobile rate.
  5. Choose which platform you want your mobile rate to appear on by selecting either App and mobile web or App only.
  6. Enter the percentage discount you want to offer.
  7. Choose any check-in dates for which you don’t want your mobile rate to apply.
  8. Click on Review and then if everything looks right, click on Activate.

Please note that you can customise your mobile rate by restricting it to certain rate plans, length of stay and booking window. You can also block unlimited dates where you don't want your mobile rate to apply.


Editing or deactivating mobile rates

You can always update the settings of your mobile rates or deactivate them so that potential guests no longer see them. Here’s how to pause or edit your mobile rates:

  1. Sign in to the extranet.
  2. Click on Promotions.
  3. Click on the arrow next to the mobile rate you want to edit or deactivate.
  4. Click on Edit or Deactivate.
  5. If you clicked on Edit, update your choice of platform, percentage discount and any dates when you don’t want your mobile rate to apply, and then click on Review and then on Activate.
  6. If you clicked on Deactivate, click on Deactivate again to confirm.
